Coming soon: Miss Kaogma 2018 – the biggest beauty pageant in the Province of Camarines Sur which offers a hefty cash prize of P300,000.00 to the top winner. Julia Gonowon, the reigning Miss Kaogma, is also the reigning Miss Millenial Philippines. And CamSur Governor Migz Villafuerte – along with Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters – are leaving no stones unturned to make this year’s edition the biggest and grandest yet.
In line with this, your blogger has been invited to judge on May 25, with the likes of Bb. Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel de Leon and Bb. Pilipinas 2018 Finalist Sandra Lemonon also in the panel.
The lineup of candidates this year is made even brighter with the presence of two (2) Binibinis – Sigrid Grace Flores and Angelie Aubrey Asuncion. This could be a fight to the finish for both including the likes of Candy Vollinger and Jian Cayla Salazar.
Now since we just finished another Election Day nationwide, have you exercised your right to vote today? Both Migz and Rachel show proof that they did.

I was mulling over the inspiration I will use for my last blog entry for Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters. And then I suddenly thought of checking the popular quotes lifted from the different works of Brazilian poet and writer Paulo Coelho. And everything seemed to fit.
Rachel is really dead-set on bringing the Miss Universe crown back to the Philippines. She wants to win more than anything else. And if it is written in her fate to do so, then she will take on the responsibility with open arms and a heart full of humility.

Everyone already knows how much strong and enviable the relationship that Rachel with Gov. Migz Villafuerte of Camsur. And they truly adore each other.
For Rachel, Migz is her rock. And for Migz, Rachel is the only woman he will go coconuts for. The love they share is what keeps them strong, wiser and emotionally stable.

The Miss Universe 2017 Finals will be full of defining moments for that one candidate who will have her destiny written in the stars as this year’s winner. And Rachel sincerely hopes that her bright moments will come flooding in and push her up to the highest tier of the night. There is no other time in her life where she has been more ready to accept the fate that lies ahead. And if that means being the successor of Iris Mittenaere, then she will wear the crown with immense pride.
After all, she is “Philippines” and wearing the sash empowers her to continue the winning tradition of the country in global pageantry.

This is Rachel at her most relaxed, and the very relaxed get-up is just appropriate for a surfing destination such as where they usually stay in.

From this point onwards, Bake by Hideout will be a permanent fixture in the surfing paradise. So when you fancy a visit to Siargao or are planning to have a vacation there soon, don’t forget to drop by. Who knows, Rachel might be the barista in duty and prepare orders herself. 😉

If you happen to be in Siargao and chance upon a tall, beautiful lady who looks just like Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters, consider yourself lucky because that would be one of the rare occasions that she got a brief respite from beauty queen duties at BPCI.
You see, prior to winning the national crown, Rachel was already busy with the planned opening of her bar/coffee shop in surfing paradise Siargao. This is a hideout of sorts from the stress of urban jungle living which she has delightfully called “Bake”. And since I have known fully well how much she loves surfing, dogs and the beach, this is pretty much the comfort zone of a business that she has been involved in with boyfriend Migz Villafuerte.
Schedules have definitely moved after winning Bb. Pilipinas. But Rachel will find the time to attend to “Bake”, even if it means just stealing brief moments (read: a day or two) from the hectic schedule in Manila.
So if you plan to surf in Siargao in a next vacation, make sure you time it during or around the opening of “Bake” so you will see Rachel in action as a barista (she trained in Australia before) or serving yummy pastries with a cup of cappucino or latte’.
When I was formally invited to sit as one of the judges during last night’s finals of Miss Ilocos Norte 2017, I took it as a welcome opportunity to spend quality time with the Chairman of the Board – Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters. While the schedule from Manila-to-Pagudpud-to Manila-to-Sariaya-to-Manila-to-Laoag was such a whirlwind travel from May 12-17, I didn’t mind the hectic pace at all.
Rachel and I were on the same PAL flight from Manila to Laoag. And right from the get-go, we started talking to each other, asking questions about anything pageant or non-pageant related. And before both of us knew it, we started getting more relaxed and less formal.
You all know that Rachel’s advocacy is to celebrate the individuality of everyone, and winning the Miss Universe Philippines crown made it more meaningful. She now has a platform by which she can further her cause and where her voice can be heard by many. She does not have plans of making any kind of earthshaking moves just yet. But now that the responsibility of being the Bb. Pilipinas 2017 top winner has beautifully sunk in, she is planning her reign with such enthusiasm.
But do you know that there is a more personal reason why the crown is such a meaningful achievement for Rachel? She feels so much happiness that her entire family and that of boyfriend Migz Villafuerte are extremely proud of her victory. The support she got from both groups became a constant source of strength from the time she trained for the nationals to the day she was named a Binibini to the night she was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2017 and up to now.
I can now safely say that I have experienced a side of Rachel Peters not many individuals get the chance to see. She is such a thoughtful soul who cares for her friends like family. And she mixes it up with everyone very easily. I can remember the time late last night when she returned to the van after the finish of Miss Ilocos Norte. Fans swarmed around the vehicle but couldn’t get the chance to have a photo opportunity. She immediately stepped out and joined the crowds. And that made everyone happy.
I may have spent just 37 hours with Rachel but that length of time was enough to give me a better assessment of the beauty queen behind the camera flashes and klieg lights. I may not be able to share with you every single personal detail I have learned about her, but you will appreciate her even more as she prepares to train for the 66th Miss Universe. Yes, even if there is still no clarity on when and where it will happen next. 🙂
Despite living apart, Rachel still puts her family on top of everything
During a TV interview of Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters, she stressed the importance of family, that’s why her victory during the finals last Sunday night was made even more special by the presence and moral support of her father Nigel, mother Annie and younger brother Daniel. We all know by now that her parents are residing in Thailand so they don’t get to see each other often. Being together as one must have really strengthened and motivated her to go all out for the big crown.

Next to family, we also know that Rachel takes a lot of inspiration from boyfriend Migz Villafuerte who is currently Governor of Camarines Sur. The couple is going strong with their relationship, and the latter always makes sure that he is around whenever his presence is required.
