Mia Arcenas was Binibini 28 during Bb. Pilipinas 2012
Remember Mia Arcenas? She is the Cebuana who took part in Bb. Pilipinas 2012 as Binibini 28. She may not have won or placed in that edition, but given a busy professional schedule in her home city, there really is no other option but to move on. And successfully, I must add. A few weeks back, she launched the Spring/Summer 2014 Collection of her own brand – MIARCENAS – at the Oakridge Pavilion to an appreciative audience composed of some of Cebu’s high-society personalities and fashion followers. This is on top of her resort wear and fashion accessories line. She is indeed going places.
More power, Mia! 😉

I’m just in a playful mood today. I was reviewing all these images taken by OPMB Worldwide from the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Fashion Show at the New Ali Mall, and decided to post about the same – getting a bit of inspiration from the question “How do you like your Bb. Pilipinas?”
Do you like your Binibini tall and ramp-savvy like Elaine Moll?
Do you like your Binibini exotic and with exquisite skin like Patricia Lae Ejercitado?
Do you like your Binibini fashion-conscious and well-networked like Mia Arcenas?
Do you like your Binibini ultra-shapely and ultra-competitive like Mary Jean Lastimosa?
Do you like your Binibini latina-ish and always-photo-ready like Nicole Schmitz?
Do you want your Binibini ballet-bodied and sharply-posing like Janine Tugonon?
Do you like your Binibini girl-next-door-ish and down-to-earth like Jillean Camille Orbina?
Do you like your Binibini sweet and statuesque like Gina Joy Howell?
Do you like your Binibini very young and relatively raw like Nicole Marable?
Do you like your Binibini unconventional and professionally-credentialed like Dr. Golda Mae Soller?
Ask me, and I will tell you that I like my Binibini tall, sexy, gorgeous and bright.
In short, combine the height of Elaine Kay Moll, the body of Mary Jean Lastimosa, the pretty faces of Karen Gallman & Annalie Forbes plus the flirty vibe of Nicole Schmitz and the quick-thinking mind of Janine Tugonon and we just might win a 3rd Miss Universe crown for the country.
Remember, this is just a playful – albeit wishful – subject matter. 😉

Ace Photographer Raymond Saldana’s headshots of the Thirty (30) Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Official Candidates have already come out, and I must say that the true competitive beauties are starting to unravel steadily and surely.
From the pictures above (starting from #1 Karen Gallman on top going to the right to #3 Nicole Marable, and following that order in the next 9 rows until reaching the last with #28 Mia Arcenas going to #30 Sherlyn Gonzales), I would have to say that the three particular standouts for me are #7 Patricia Lae Ejercitado, #13 Katrina Dimaranan and #1 Karen Gallman. This trio is followed by #19 Roxane Joy Jesalva and #29 Annalie Forbes just to come up with five.
I know that we all have different eyes for beauty, so why not share your choices, based solely on their close-ups? This should be fun. 😉
Here are the official number assignments of the 30 Bb. Pilipinas 2012 candidates:
#1 Karen Gallman
#2 Roxane De Castro
#3 Nicole Marable
#4 Jaine Hidalgo
#5 Rose Ann Aguilar
#6 Maria Alicia Elena Ariosa
#7 Patricia Lae Ejercitado
#8 Nicole Schmitz
#9 Mary Jean Lastimosa
#10 Jillean Camille Orbina
#11 Marie Virginia Cecile Peter
#12 Mika Maxine Medina
#13 Katrina Jayne Dimaranan
#14 Gina Joy Howell
#15 Elaine Kay Moll
#16 Liezl Alcantara
#17 Anna Czarina Buenviaje
#18 Janine Tugonon
#19 Roxane Joy Jesalva
#20 Roxanne Tadique
#21 Giselle Angelica Munoz
#22 Meiji Cruz
#23 Goldy Baroa
#24 Fer Mary Baliquig
#25 Chloe Zanardi
#26 Angelee Delos Reyes
#27 Golda Soller
#28 Marie Irisha Arcenas
#29 Annalie Forbes
#30 Sherlyn Gonzales
Now what do these numbers tell us? Simple. The one occupying #15 (Elaine Moll) is the tallest and from either direction counting up or down, the girls decrease in height. It also means that #1-3 and #28-30 are the shortest in the batch, give or take a fraction of an inch here and there. 🙂

After long hours of deliberation, not to mention the callbacks and oft-rescheduled final screening, the 30 Official Candidates for Bb. From this list of beautiful Filipinas, three will be crowned winners and represent the country in this year’s Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Tourism Queen International.
Who will shine bright and claim victory on April 15? Let’s wait and see as the ladies will be instantly immersed into a world of glitz, glamour and fame, with a dash of intrigue and controversy in the mix.

Suffice it to say that the next two months will be crucial for all the contenders. I won’t be surprised if a disqualification or two – not to mention a couple of backing-outs – can still take place before the coronation night draws very near. It has happened many times before and this year should be no exception.
Regardless, let’s all wish the ladies the best of luck!
How about you, dear readers? Happy with the selection? 😉
Cebu has always been a good source of beautiful ladies for many national pageants in the country. In fact, no batch is complete without a candidate or two from the Queen City of the South. Take for example Bb. Pilipinas 2012 which is being eyed by Mia Arcenas as the possible fulfillment of a childhood dream to become a beauty queen. This 21 year-old doesn’t really need the pressure of going through the pageant rigors. After all, she comes from a rich and prominent clan in Cebu where she has chosen to be the CEO of the successful family business (Ferimar) following the completion of a fashion and merchandising degree in Los Angeles,CA and a Summa cum Laude at that. But the girl is up to the added challenge. She knows what she wants and is willing to start from square one en route to hopefully nailing a crown that will give her the right to represent the Philippines internationally. Given her exotic charm, gift of gab, 5’7″ height and 23-inch waistline, I’m confident that she will impress the panelists in the upcoming screenings for the pageant. What fortune awaits her? Abangan! 🙂
