Earlier today at the El Corazon Fil-Hispano Restaurant in Uptown Mall BGC, I had an intimate lunch with Manhunt International 2020 Paul Luzineau, his National Director Ryan Sheikrojan and selected members of the pageant media. It is always a pleasure spending quality time with this Dutch titleholder who was one of the last two individuals who won their international pageant assignments shortly before the worldwide pandemic left everything at a standstill.
Now that things are slowly returning to normal, Paul was able to travel to the Philippines almost three months ago to claim a part of his prize, i.e. a six-month modeling management contract with Empireph/Mercator. He will be staying in the country up until early October, by which time he has already relinquished his title to a successor who will come from the roster of Official Candidates for Manhunt International 2022 who will vie for the title come October 1. The said male competition will be hosted in the country from September 24-October 2.
Back to Paul, he has already acclimatized himself to the hot and humid weather of the country, but has yet to fully immerse himself into our local cuisines. As a self-taught cook, he prepares his own meals most of the time even if his skills are limited to standard European meals and the like. During the past two months, he has been given different projects and modeling assignments that further polished his skills in front of the camera and on the runway.
Asked about what ideal qualities his successor for Manhunt International should possess, this was his reply.
Between now and the end of September, Paul will be busy with his agency stints as well as being the big brother of this year’s candidates for the international competition.
As of this writing, Manhunt Philippines has already been appointed. Your blogger will write about him once everything is in place within the coming weeks.
Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach for Huawei
Queen P for Uniqlo Philippines
Pia at Uniqlo SM CDO Downtown
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s reign may be over, but her brand endorsements are still going great guns. At the moment, she is the face of Huawei mobile phones and Uniqlo Philippines, on top of being the lead for Magnolia Chicken Station’s “Pambansang Manok” campaign along with fellow Miss Universe titleholders Gloria Diaz and Margarita Moran. Of course, her deal with BDO is still going strong (she uploaded the photo below for BDO Deals App
). I like it how her post-MU career is being handled by Mercator.

And it won’t stop there. Before the year ends, you will get to watch Queen P starring in a Star Cinema movie titled “The Revengers” where she will play the female lead alongside big showbiz names Vice Ganda and Daniel Padilla for the Metro Manila Film Festival.
Kudos to you, Miss U!

While the quick news segment of Mario Dumaual on TV Patrol showed a sprinkling of ladies who are set to screen for Bb. Pilipinas 2014, what we actually saw is just a small dose of confirmed and possible contenders
If you will notice, the only Jonas Gaffud ward (now BPCI-managed talent) shown was the long-established re-joiner Pia Wurtzbach and Mercator celebrity starlet Wynn-Wynn Marquez (who is not even confirmed to be part of Aces & Queens’ Sixteen to Shine for Batch 2014). Meanwhile, Rodgil Flores did not show his best bets as well. The ones in the video are just his Team B aspirants, imo.
So there really is much to still be excited about. 😉
Young, talented and good-looking, that's Benjo Leoncio.
If you have been following Artista Academy – the reality-based artista search of TV5 – one guy stands out amidst the group of predominantly mixed-race hopefuls vying for the two top spots. I have nothing against “50/50s” or contenders who trace half of their lineage to foreign nationalities. They actually make pure Pinoy Benjo Leoncio shine even more. This Cebuano has the makings of a matinee idol, what with his clean-cut good looks, well-mannered demeanor and humble disposition. Sure, the shyness may still take over from time to time, but he has gradually stepped out of his shell to face the endless trainings, workshops and constantly trailing ‘camera-in-your-face’ demands of the show.
Below is a quick video profile of Benjo (together with fellow ‘classmate’ Aki):

Let’s give Benjo Leoncio a chance. This guy has more to offer in the weeks to come. And with the additional support from Mercator, I would say that he can only get better in time.

Good looks and a brainy mind…that’s Benjamin Alves for you! (Photo credit: Gabby Cantero)

Seldom do we encounter showbiz personalities who pursue a career in film and television, yet managed to finish their university education (no home schooling or correspondence classes whatsoever) with flying colors. Benjamin Alves is one fine example. This exclusive contract artist of GMA-7 opted to complete all his academic requirements first before plunging into his commitments with the network. It takes a lot of discipline and perseverance to do just that. What makes it even more special is the fact that he is all set to graduate Summa cum Laude
from the University of Guam with a degree in English Literature. I love it when someone has the good combination of killer looks and a beautiful mind. Co-manager Jonas Gaffud of Mercator must be grinning ear-to-ear that his ward has achieved the same.
Benjamin will take part in his graduation march come May 27. After that, it’s all systems go for his grooming as the next big Kapuso leading man. 🙂
I’m very pleased with the recent development in the careers of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 & Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner-Up Venus Raj and ‘Zombadings’ discovery Kerbie Zamora. Both talents are now the latest to be signed up as Regal Babies.
In their contract signing held earlier today at the Imperial Palace Suites, Venus & Kerbie were accompanied by Mercator Head Jonas Gaffud. Regal Films matriarch ‘Mother’ Lily Monteverde and daughter Roselle Monteverde were present for the same.
Good luck with your showbiz careers in film, Venus and Kerbie! 😉
