The status update that elicited raised eyebrows on FB.

The message is not cryptic at all. It doesn’t take a lot to understand what she really means. If the particular status update of Mary Anne Ross Misa is to be analyzed, so many wild interpretations can be yielded. But at the risk of ruffling feathers without anything solid to back me up, I wouldn’t dare give my own take anymore.
I leave it to you, dear readers, to draw your own conclusions. I know this girl to be a very sensible one. And she will only give her piece of mind once and move on without so much as dwelling on the matter longer than necessary.
Be that as it may, things are a crazy mess from where she stands. Good thing she has accepted the bite of reality that dug deep into her skin.
Chin up, Ross!
The two tallest earth warriors in MPE2014
Who doesn’t love a statuesque beauty contestant, moreso if they stand 5’11”?
Kim Covert of Dumaguete City and Mary Anne Ross Misa of Makati City are the two glamazons of Miss Philippines Earth 2014. They possess such enviable height measurements, that dwarfing shorter co-candidates is inevitable.
The good thing is that, more than being tall, they have other qualities that could convince the organizers of their qualifications for the title. Watch their eco-videos below.

So what say you, dear readers? Do Kim and Ross have what it takes to be the next MPE? 🙂
Is your blogger being sandwiched by two future Miss Philippines Earth possibilities? Will Diana Arevalo join next year after Ross Misa in the current edition?
We all know that Mary Anne Ross Misa is currently in the thick of the fight and hoping to become Miss Philippines Earth 2014 before mid-May. As of now, she has become one of the favorites to nail the crown during the finals at SM MOA Arena.
But how about Diana Arevalo? I hear that after disappointment over the results of Bb. Pilipinas 2014, she is now more open to spreading her wings furthermore before it becomes so dangerously late (age-wise, that is). Will she take the more environmental route and hook up with Miss Philippines Earth 2015?
Just thinking out loud while gracefully trying to outpose these beautiful ladies. 😉
MPE2014 is shaping up to be a battle between Ross and Bianca.
If beauty pageants had the corresponding equivalents of alpha males, then the likes of Mary Anne Ross Misa and Ma. Paula Bianca Paz will probably get categorized as such. Aside from having stamped their class – albeit with only near-successes so far – in an equal number of national competitions, they always stand head and shoulders above their fellow candidates whenever presentation skills are required. This goes just as literally for Ross who can give quite a towering presence at a little over 5’11” in height.
In the ongoing Miss Philippines Earth 2014, the two ladies are at it again. And at the rate the pre-pageant events are being conducted, things are looking more and more like a Misa VS Paz show with their commanding dispositions at every turn of events. Of course, the other side of the coin could also spoil the anticipated results for both stunners if the organizers are more leaned on the gentler and milder auras of the other contestants who fit the regular template more closely.
You see, Ross and Bianca are two of a kind. And if Carousel is keen on showing off a more definitive Miss Earth wannabe who can be either scene-stealers or performance beauty queens, then crowning one of them would be a wise move. Of course, I’m not touching on camp affiliations yet. If we go by that parameter, then KF is likely to have an edge after having invested their talents a lot longer in MPE than A&Q.
This is one battle royale worth watching, I tell you. 😉
These eight (8) ladies took part in Bb. Pilipinas before crossing over to Miss Philippines Earth.
What is the common denominator among the eight (8) ladies above? Simple. They all joined Bb. Pilipinas before crossing over to Miss Philippines Earth 2014. Actually, two (2) of them did it via Miss World Philippines in between (Ross Misa and Bianca Paz):
Mary Anne Ross Misa – Bb. Pilipinas 2010
Ma. Paula Bianca Paz – Bb. Pilipinas 2011 (disqualified)
Mary Rose Pujanes – Bb. Pilipinas 2013
Bencelle Bianzon – Bb. Pilipinas 2013
Anna Carmela Aquino – Bb. Pilipinas 2013
Monique Manuel – Bb. Pilipinas 2011
Anna Czarina Buenviaje – Bb. Pilipinas 2012
Patrixia Sherly Santos – Bb. Pilipinas 2010
If we are to use their previous experiences in big pageants, I would say that any of the beauties above can strongly take the competition, but none moreso than Mary Anne Ross Misa and Bianca Paz. They are the most senior in the batch and the ones who can handle all the nitty gritty of the pre-pageant even with their eyes closed.
I wish them all the best! 🙂
Yesterday afternoon, the Press Presentation of Miss Philippines Earth 2014 took place at SM Megamall at right about the same time that the Presscon for the winners of Bb. Pilipinas 2014 was underway.
With fifty (50) lovely earth warriors, the organizers matched the number of Official Candidates during Bb. Pilipinas 2013, with a number of interesting delegates in the roster. But first, let us meet the ladies grouped according to the area in the country they represent:
Now here are the notable candidates that we have short-listed for reasons of being crossovers from Bb. Pilipinas or other national pageants, plain natural beauties or those who screened but did not get in during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 (All images below are courtesy of Emerson Cebanico for OPMB Worldwide):
See if you can recognize them
The winner of Miss Philippines Earth 2014 will represent the country in Miss Earth 2014 which, I was told, will be finally hosted by another country for the second time. Although still unconfirmed and being carefully negotiated, South Korea is on top of the bidders’ list at the moment.
MPE2014 Finals night is set on May 11 at the SM MOA Arena to be telecast over ABS-CBN.
These ladies have already passed the screenings for Miss Philippines Earth 2014.
Patrixia from 2010 is also joining MPE2014
Miss Philippines Earth 2014 is looking more and more like a battle of crossovers.
This early, five (5) alumni of Bb. Pilipinas have already enlisted and passed the initial screenings for the competition.
There is Mary Anne Ross Misa – the ‘every-other-year’ joiner – who is making the jump from Bb. Pilipinas 2010 to MPE2014 via Miss World Philippines 2012. She could be Makati City’s bet.
In the same 2010 batch is Patrixia Sherly Santos who is being tagged to represent Albay in MPE2014.
Monique Manuel of Dinalupihan, Bataan is next. She took part in Bb. Pilipinas 2011, kept low profile for more than a few years and has now resurfaced for MPE2014.
And then two of last year’s Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas Gold are also in. Team JDV’s Rose Pujanes of Batangas and Kagandahang Flores’ Ana Carmela Aquino of Taytay are already in place to join MPE2014.

Which familiar names and faces will be taking the leap next? 😉
How would you like to see Mary Anne Ross Misa (left) and Anthea Murfet in Miss World Philippines 2014? (Photo credit: Paul Frederick Chiongson)
Ross (right) and Anthea during their recent Boracay photoshoot
Two tall ladies. 5’10” Mary Anne Ross Misa and 5’9″ Anthea Theresa Murfet.
One is a Miss World Philippines 2012 1st Princess. The other a Miss Resorts World Manila 2nd Runner-Up.
Vivacious Vixens. Are they bound for Miss World Philippines 2014?
Or do you prefer someone else with a more noble-sounding resume?
For Ross, it could be a big risk. But then again, she backed out in what could’ve been her final attempt at Bb. Pilipinas 2014. And having already made inroads with the MWP competition in the past, she could be at a better advantage.
As for Anthea, she hasn’t really taken part in any of the big-league national pageants. MWP could be a first.

This post is very belated. My apologies because your blogger is bogged down by so many other personal stuff this weekend.
Just to let you know that it won’t be the end of the road for Mary Anne Ross Misa. It could be Binibini again or somewhere else. For now, she is definitely backing out of the 2014 fight.
But she will definitely return. 😉
Me and MWP2012 1st Princess Ross Misa
During my post-birthday lunch for employees at the office last Monday, I got a surprise visit from MWP2012 1st Princess Mary Anne Ross Misa who joined us for the simple buffet brought in by our regular caterer.
Ross and I spent a good amount of time talking about a variety of subject matters, including the ongoing Miss World Philippines and her tentative plans for next year. It was more like sisterly bonding that stretched till way after the food was demolished by everyone at work.
Notes from our conversation:
– She is now happy with the batch of MWP2013. Back during the pre-final screenings at Solaire, she had reservations with the low turnout/quality of joiners, but was pleasantly surprised by the set of ladies presented to the Press last July 31.
– Although she prefers not to share her final favorites, the names of two particularly special candidates came out of her mouth (my lips are still sealed, though).
– She is supposed to re-join MWP this year, but had an understandable change of heart at the last minute.
– She was sounded off on possibly getting appointed as the Philippine bet to Miss United Continent 2013 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The negotiations did not prosper, though.
– She is contemplating hard on which national pageant to join in 2014. That will be her last hurrah, and it’s between Bb. Pilipinas 2014 or Miss Philippines Earth for now.
– She is still keen on wearing the country’s sash abroad. If she doesn’t get it by way of pageants, a slightly different avenue of representation is being seriously considered.
The girl is a great big bundle of joy to make chika with. She is frank but very pleasant. Plus, she is still gorgeous and remains to be one of the true-blue barefoot 5’11” beauty candidates we have around.
Good luck in all your future plans, Ross! 😉
