The most highly coveted of ornamental plants, the delicate, exotic and graceful Waling-waling represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. In some Philippine tribes of Calayan islands, Manobo, Bagobo, Aeta, Waling-walings are worshipped and revered as diwata of the forest. Endemic to the provinces of Mindanao, it is apt and just to take this majestic Queen of Philippine Orchids to the center stage.

Being a deity of the indigenous Mindanao tribes, a beautiful relationship between the Waling-waling and the indigenous people is weaved, hence, this proudly Mindanaoan national costume for Tagum City Binibining Pilipinas bet, Binibini 38 Lesley Anne Ticaro. Drawing inspiration from 11 tribes of Mindanao, this Waling-waling couture gown shows the flourishing and abundant culture and tradition of the ethnic groups.

With the genius of Davao-based designer, Mark Joseph Sayad, the T’nalak of the Tiboli and Inaul of Maguindanaoan were sewn to highlight the skilled tribesmen meanwhile creating a transforming masterpiece fit for a Binibini.
