Last night at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort and Casino, the Miss Universe Charity Fashion Gala was held in cooperation with Frontrow Cares and Hope for Change Foundation. Our visiting Miss Universe titleholders Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Iris Mittenaere – along with our very own Pia Wurtzbach walked the runway for a good cause. Wearing creations by our top designers like Francis Libiran and Rajo Laurel, they were joined by the Miss Universe 2017 national winners who also displayed their taste and elegance in gowns made by the likes of Mark Bumgarner, Frederick Peralta, Edwin Uy, Val Taguba, Rocky Gathercole, Cherry Samuya Veric, Ofelia Simpao and more.
What added special glitter to the event was the presence of six of our Miss Universe Philippines winners – Bianca Manalo, Venus Raj, Shamcey Supsup, Ara Arida, MJ Lastimosa and Maxine Medina – who also participated in the fashion show and presented onstage in chronological order of their years in competition.

I know that the hardworking Designers who created the fabulous National Costumes for the Binibinis of Bb. Pilipinas 2017 toiled on their respective works so it is but fitting that we give credit to each one of them.

As you all know by now, the Miss Supranational 2016 Preliminaries was held recently in Warsaw, Poland where the candidates presented themselves in two segments – Swimsuit and Evening Gown.
Our Queen, Joanna Eden wore a blue (sort of blue-greenish) Mark Bumgarner creation for the formal wear and a moss-green two piece swimwear in the other. Are you liking her in the photos here?
If you ask me, I have reservations about the make-up (paging Gio Flores, please follow her in Poland!) and all. I want her to have the same look she had during her send-off at Novotel.
As for the swimwear, the bottom tends to border on the risqué with a cut that leaves me uneasy when shot from some angles.
What’s your take on our dear Joanna? 🙂

True to the promise of BPCI, Filipino designers were given the spotlight during the finals last Sunday night. And prior to that, the National Costume Competition also showcased their creativity. So allow me to feature a photo blog of fifteen of the evening gowns, including the new titleholders, runners-up and the rest of the Binibinis in the Top 15.

Miss Philippines Hillarie Danielle Parungao in Mark Bumgarner for the Miss World 2015 Welcome Party
While all other ongoing pageants have already staged their respective welcome parties for the candidates, Miss World 2015 just had theirs over the weekend after their arrival in Zhuhai. And to think that the more than one hundred ladies have already been in Sanya since late November. At any rate, everything’s still good.
Our bet, Hillarie Danielle Parungao, looked particularly elegant in the Mark Bumgarner number she wore in the said event. The gown had an almost similar cut to the red creation (from the same designer) Parul Shah wore during the Miss Grand International 2015 finals.
From hereon, the competition for Miss World 2015 should start heating up more nicely. I don’t like it that things are beginning to pale in comparison to Miss Universe. But it can’t be helped. The two pageants follow different pegs and directions. Let’s just hope that the level of excitement rises very soon. 🙂

Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach in her latest photoshoot wearing Mark Bumgarner
Make-up by Gery Penaso
Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is definitely in her best elements here – a photoshoot (held yesterday afternoon
) showing her so elegantly styled and dressed with a hairstyle that makes her look like a Grecian Goddess on Earth. The white number is a fab creation by Designer Mark Bumgarner. Styling by ryujishiomitsu. Make-up by Gery Penaso, with hair (including extensions

Pia is definitely upping her glow by the day. And she is showing how dead serious her commitment is to the crown.
