You either like her or have reservations about her overall look. Your Binibini 15 Maria Angelica “Mariel” de Leon is here to make her beauty queen dreams come true. And it just might happen in the Year of the Rooster for this lady who comes from Aces & Queens. True, she may still need to trim down more to meet the exacting standards of pageant critics and followers. Trust her to stay focused on the task. In the meantime, here is a self-made description she made upon your blogger’s request:
“I am Mariel de Leon, 23 years old, from Las Piñas City. I finished High School at Southville International School. Then I decided to move to New Zealand for a cooking course aside from the convenience of my eldest brother living there. I grew up in a showbiz family but I never felt like my upbringing was different from others just because my parents are well-known. People always prejudge and set expectations on how I am but they always get surprised once they get to know me. People always tell me “You’re nice pala” “You’re talkative pala”. I just want to let people out there know that I am actually friendly, just come up to me and talk to me! I won’t bite. I am a dog lover! All breeds, shapes, sizes, colors. I actually have 3 fur-babies at home that I love with all my heart which is also why I fight against animal cruelty especially on social media since it reaches many people at once.
Fun fact about me is I am actually a goth. I love anything dark, Victorian, and weird but in a beautiful way. Besides being a classical music lover, I also love classic rock and metal. Being different is not something I hide. I would love to keep that part of me even if it isn’t common for beauty queens to be that way. Growing up I always listened to classical music and that sparked my passion for opera. So now, I’m proud to work as an amateur opera singer for the Philippine Opera Company. Besides being passionate about opera, I also love makeup. Growing up in a family full of different kinds of artists, my siblings and I have different passions in the arts, and mine is makeup. I love how you can change it up everyday and give yourself a new character everyday according to your mood. I definitely want to study and pursue both makeup and opera as jobs after Binibini.”
As Mariel said, she really doesn’t bite. All it takes is to cheerfully approach her and she will be more than willing to extend her friendly charm. There really are no walls. It could be the impression of some, but I’m telling you she is the exact opposite.
