Welcome back to the Philippines, Miss Tourism World Philippines Marian Angelu Alcantara who was named Miss Tourism World Asia and won Best Tourism Video but did not make it to the Top 15.

You all remember last weekend’s intriguing finals night of the Miss Tourism® World in Melaka, Malaysia which was marred by a couple of irregularities during the proceedings (error in the names of the Top 5 – who already underwent the Final Q&A – which led to the announcement of a new set of Top 5 with only a small number of the delegates coming out onstage to witness the crowning of Colombian Andrea Katherine Gutierrez)

What did just happen at the Miss Tourism World 2017/2018 Finals?

Firstly, Miss Philippines Marian Angelu Alcantara was given the continental title of Miss Tourism World Asia and was awarded Best in Tourism Video.

And then (surprise!), she did not make Top 15.

What did just happen at Miss Tourism 2017/2018 World Finals?

Here is the Top 15:
Colombia
Croatia
Indonesia
Peru
Serbia
Spain
Mongolia
Panama
Malaysia
Novosibirsk – Miss Bikini World
Venezuela
Ghana
Great Britain
Portugal
Dominican Republic

Then they call the Top 5:
Colombia
Venezuela
Great Britain
Panama
Mongolia

Final Q&A soon followed where the five ladies mentioned above actually went through the process.

And then it was announced that there was a mistake in the calling out of the names of the Top 5.

Top 15 called onstage once more.

And then a New Top 5 (with Panama and Great Britain out, Malaysia and Serbia in)

Peru
Mongolia
Malaysia
Serbia

And from there, only 18 candidates returned onstage before the announcement of winners.

What gives?

This is not looking good for the organizers. Tsk tsk tsk.

And they blame the computer system for the error.

We are all so tied up with enthusiasm for Bb. Pilipinas 2018 right now. Let us not forget, though, that the very first Filipina to wage battle abroad this year will soon depart for the host city. And that will already be next week.

Miss Tourism World Philippines 2017 Marian Angelu Alcantara will be representing the country in the Miss Tourism 2017/18 World Final which will be held in Melaka, Malaysia from January 10-28. The finals is set to take place at the Swiss Garden Hotel Melaka on January 27.

Winners all: The top finishers of Miss Tourism Philippines 2017 during last night’s get-together


Last night at the Social Hall of Bonifacio Ridge in BGC, the winners of Miss Tourism Philippines 2017 presented themselves for a post-coronation get-together and contract signing. Everyone was accounted for – Miss Tourism Philippines World 2017 Marian Angelu Alcantara, Miss Tourism Philippines Universe 2017 Julie Anne Tricia Manalo, Miss Tourism Luzon Princess Kristha Singh, Miss Tourism Visayas Sofia Grace Galve, Miss Tourism Mindanao Ravilyn Dumdum, 1st Runner-Up Sharla Santillan, 2nd Runner-Up Justiene Ortega and 3rd Runner-Up Jyssa Jyn Almario. And along the whole production and marketing team plus media/PR partner normannorman.com, everyone had a good time reuniting over long dinner and endless photo ops.
