Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach and Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler reunite for CordAid
This is such a special encounter for the present and a former Miss Universe. And it all happened during the fashion charity for CordAid which the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) fully supports. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach and Maria Gabriela Isler reunited like long-lost acquaintances. Knowing how the cause is close to both their hearts, they looked forward to seeing each other in the same.
You will remember how Molly went to Palawan during her reign to oversee the housing project of the humanitarian group there. But you will also recall seeing photos of her helping crown then Miss Universe Philippines MJ Lastimosa with the losing Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach looking at the background. How fate has really made it possible for the two of them seeing each other again as proud wearers of the DIC crown this time around. 🙂
Oh how I love seeing two of my favorite Miss Universe titleholders in one event!
One of the most highly-anticipated national beauty pageants is currently holding its regionals at almost simultaneous pace. And it is no wonder why Miss Venezuela is considered the toughest competition for country representatives to Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth. The quality of ladies for pre-qualification alone is so high that by the time the Official Candidates have been named, you can be sure that they have gone through stringent judging, physical improvements and training. In short, only the best of the best will get the privilege of taking part in the ultra-competitive nationals usually held October of every year.
In addition, the victories of Maria Gabriela Isler (top photo above) and Alyz Henrich as Miss Universe and Miss Earth, respectively, have spurred Osmel Sousa and his team to exceed their previous efforts. Outside the Philippines with three big wins in 2013, Venezuela is the only other country going for more than one back-to-back in 2014.
The photos below are just samples of some of the enthusiastic delegates for Misses Carabobo and Lara, two of the regional sashes.
Watch out for my future blog posts on the ladies who will officially fight for the crowns of the 62nd edition of Miss Venezuela! 😀
Molly in Curacao
Continuing with her year-round travels as Miss Universe 2013, Maria Gabriela Isler’s next destination was the island of Curacao (which is just off the Venezuelan coast) and was treated to a vacation filled with the warm hospitality, delicious food and unique culture of its people. During the visit, she was accompanied by Miss Universe Curacao 2013 Eline de Pool in all the formal functions and personal appearances. Watch the video below to see how much fun she had in this south Caribbean hotspot.

Just the other day, OfficialMissUniverse uploaded its latest video showing the visit of Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler to Machala, Ecuador for purely sightseeing and leisure purposes. She also joined in the festivities for the 2014 Machala Annual United Parade. Watch the 2-minute edited clip below which covered the said trip.

Now here’s the thing.
Is Molly clueing us on something that we may already have prior hints about?
Could there be ongoing negotiations about Miss Universe 2014 being hosted by Guayaquil?
Or am I simply reading way too much into the visit to Ecuador? 😉
When Maria Gabriela Isler won Miss Universe 2013, part of the prize package is to be the face of Yamamay’s Summer 2014 catalogue. Aside from wearing the million-dollar swimsuit of the brand, she flew to Cancun, Mexico to do the sexy shoot that reminded me of what Sports Illustrated does for its Swimsuit models like Kate Upton but a little tamer for this one.

When Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler visited the Philippines for Bb. Pilipinas 2014, Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart was always by her side, much like the way MWO Head Julia Morley stands by and even holds hands with Miss World 2013 Megan Young in almost all her appearances.
So when the two of them attended the finals last Sunday night, it was evident how Paula would constantly attend to the needs or questions of Molly while judging was ongoing. Was the former guiding the latter on how to score the Binibinis or was Paula simply asking Molly if she needs anything at all?
Whatever the answer to the question is, MJ Lastimosa is already the new Miss Universe Philippines. If she was indeed handpicked by MUO to represent the country in Miss Universe 2014, then it only means that our bet has already earned two thumbs up from the important people who matter. 😉

It cannot be denied that the presence of Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler during the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 festivities lent so much glitz, glamor and excitement, not to mention the adorable presence she exuded everywhere her appearances were scheduled. And being a member of the Board of Judges during the finals was more than enough to add decibels of cheers and happy thoughts to everyone inside Smart Araneta Coliseum and those watching on the small screens at home.
By now, our beautiful visitor has already left the country back to the US. Hopefully, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean “MJ” Lastimosa has already made initial attempts at befriending Molly beyond the usual ‘hi’ and ‘hello’. That way, there will already have been a good degree of acquaintance by the time they meet again during Miss Universe 2014, wherever the next edition will finally be hosted.
Thank you, Molly! 🙂
