Seldom does a Filipina represent the country twice in international beauty pageants. Some ladies with the privilege and who come into mind are Maricar Balagtas (Miss Universe 2004 and Miss Globe International 2001), Margaret Ann Bayot (Miss International 2004 and Miss Maja Internacional 2004), Joyce Ann Burton (Miss Young International 1981 and Miss Universe 1985), and Joanne Santos (Miss Universe 1995 and Miss Tourism International 1997). Add to the list Bb. Pilipinas-World 2010 Czarina Gatbonton. After wearing the Philippine sash in Miss World 2010, she has been appointed by BPCI as official Philippine representative to Miss Humanity International 2011 which will have its grand finals in Bridgetown, Barbados on October 22, 2011.
Czarina’s big-time exposure to the rigors of Miss World will greatly help in her quest to shine in Barbados. Some quarters may claim that Miss Humanity International is just a small-time newbie in the global pageant scene. Be that as it may, we should still continue supporting our candidate because it will hold her confidence high all throughout the competition.
Czarina’s exotic good looks and warm personality will definitely work to her advantage because the contest centers both on beauty and in getting involved with worthy causes. If she is lucky enough to win the crown for the Philippines, then it will be some sort of a vindication for her less-than-memorable performance in China last year.
Let’s wish her the best of luck! 🙂
