Miss World 2013 Megan Young giving her short speech to everyone who attended the Gala Charity Night of Miss World Philippines 2014
It was an affair full of glitter – and beautiful ladies – alright.
Miss World Philippines 2014 held its Gala Charity Night at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort & Casino. Ms. Cory Quirino welcomed all invited guests, media representatives and valued sponsors. After the expertly-prepared sit-down dinner, the twenty-six (26) Official Candidates were formally presented in evening gowns provided by Vatican Fashion Museum.

Entertainment was provided by R&B Artist Kris Lawrence and Ysabella Gonzalez (Kuh Ledesma’s singer-daughter). Hosting duties were fulfilled by TV Personality RJ Ledesma.
Judging was also made for the Best in Fashion Runway. The winner will be announced this coming Sunday.

It was a successful event by all counts. By now, I am getting a pretty good idea of who among the 26 will figure out well in the October 12 finals night at the SM MOA Arena. 😉
Perhaps, I was expecting more in terms of definition.
Perhaps, I wanted images that would wow me like crazy.
Perhaps, I would have been more pleased with a better set of headshots.
Perhaps, I am just a spoiled photo-brat.
Oh my, I don’t want to dwell on perhaps.
Perhaps, my phablets and tablets do not give justice to the actual vivid photographs that would look best on my laptop.
I will review them again tomorrow.
I am just so darn sleepy right now.
P.S. Can someone tell me where #10 Grace Ann Bautista was when these shots were taken? It distracts me to see just a head silhouette in her space above.

In the grand scheme of things, whether another contestant is a good friend is not really that significant. This is a beauty competition after all, and survival is more geared towards a “to-each-her-own” disposition. But on the outer layer (or reasonably beneath superficial ties
) of relationships, having true allies gives plus points in terms of moral and emotional support.
In the raging battle for Miss World Philippines 2014, five (5) of the eleven Kagandahang Flores entries – Lorraine Kendrickson, Gazini Ganados, Rachel Peters, Alexa Kirby and Kristine Estoque – have forged ties that unite their front in achieving the target. I’d like to think that they will be more than happy if one of them will end up #1.
And nobody will be extra proud and overjoyed more than their mentor, Rodgil Flores, should that happen. 😉
Like a boxing match, Valerie and Lorraine are being pitted akin to a Pacquiao-Mayweather dream face-off. (Credit goes to Madamme Xtellar for the layout above)

The Coronation Night of Miss World Philippines 2014 won’t be over until more than two weeks from this posting, but many pageant followers are already anticipating the results to boil down to just two (2) ladies – Valerie Weigmann of Aces & Queens (who is actually a shade above 5’9 1/2″) and Lorraine Kendrickson of Kagandahang Flores (who is now 20) – being left standing in the end. And it just couldn’t do better than this – a fight between the two top beauty camps at the same time.
And their respective cheerers and supporters are just as divided. It’s like watching a virtual tug-o-war where both sides won’t give in whatever happens.
I’m pretty sure Ms. Cory Quirino is watching all of this with much glee and twinkle in her eyes. The battle is really giving a lot of unsolicited publicity for the October 12 event at the SM MOA Arena.
So is your excitement for real up to now? Or has it already been dampened by the wave of Valerie/Lorraine popularity that awaiting the outcome of the finals will be practically a foregone conclusion? 😉
P.S. In the just recently-concluded mini-pageant held at the Iriga City Coliseum, Valerie Weigmann was named Miss World CamSur. This is a title similar to what Megan Young won – Miss World Laguna (out-of-town host) – last year.

My friend, Kai Magsanoc, has uploaded the profiles and advocacies of the Miss World Philippines 2014 Official Candidates.
In line with this, the Yahoo Philippines Readers Choice has already started, and here is where you can show full support to your favorite/s among the twenty-six (26) hopefuls.
– Go to the profile of the Miss World Philippines 2014 candidate you support

Candidate #6 for Miss World Philippines 2014 is Kristine Angeli Estoque (Photo credit: Joselito Caleon and Melvin Sia for Fabmanilaph)

During the TV guesting of the Miss World Philippines 2014 Official Candidates in ‘Sunday All-Stars’, five (5) ladies were specifically called out to centerstage to join hosts Andre’ Paras and Christian Bautista for a casual live chat about the pageant. Being the top favorites, I already expected Lorraine Kendrickson and Valerie Weigmann to be picked, just as Nicole Donesa who happens to be a GMA-7 contract artist. Alexa Kirby was half-expected as well because she is the only entry from a Filipino Community in the US. As for the fifth, I was hoping that Gazini Ganados would also be part of the quintet, but #6 Kristine Angeli Estoque was selected instead.
Kristine must really be starting to take a shine among the organizers and airing network. And I can already see why. She has this extra glow that can make her stand out after repeated viewing. But the question is…can she sustain the momentum till the finals? I’m sure she will work hard for the uphill climb, but will achieve some measure of success in doing so. 😉

A week has passed since the Miss World Philippines 2014 Press Presentation. And by the looks of it, the competition is still running around the candidacies of four (4) leading favorites – Valerie Weigmann, Lorraine Kendrickson, Rachel Peters and Gazini Ganados. Of course, I am not ignoring the potentials of the other relatively strong hopefuls like Alexa Kirby, Christine Balaguer, Kristin Estoque and Nicole Donesa.
Valerie and Lorraine remain firmly etched as the candidates to beat. But from where I stand, Alexa Kirby has already overtaken Rachel Peters as the next-in-line and is now Spoiler #1. The latter should not lose steam at this point when the other hopefuls are just waiting for the leaders of the pack to slow down. And as for Spoiler #2, Christine Balaguer is gradually getting into that spot, just as Kristin Estoque is gaining ground while everyone else is looking at a different direction.
Let’s see how the upcoming events will unfold. 😉

By now, the Miss World Philippines 2014 Official Candidates have safely arrived in Caramoan Island where they will still stay for a few days to have the pre-pageant swimsuit competition, as well as film some promotional video clips to be shown on GMA-7 and during the finals.
It would be an understatement to say that all the girls are excited about the trip. They have been looking forward to it since last week. And now that they will experience the beauty of the island that was already given maximum international exposure via various country editions of ‘Survivor’, chances are happy memories and sisterly bonding will take place among them.
Enjoy Caramoan, ladies! 😀

Once more, Tropical Storm Mario wreaked havoc on the planned out-of-town schedule of the Miss World Philippines 2014 Official Candidates. Instead of leaving for the swimsuit competition in Caramoan Island, the ladies had to actually take a rain check and wait for the weather to improve. So as not to waste their time here in Manila, a TV guesting was added for the weekend where all twenty-six of them trooped to the GMA-7 studio of the musical variety show ‘Sunday All-Stars’ to promote the beauty competition. Two of the male hosts – Christian Bautista and Andre Paras – were able to interview some of the hopefuls, including Lorraine Kendrickson, Valerie Weigmann, Nicole Donesa, Alexa Kirby and Kristin Estoque, much to the delight of the pageant fans in the audience.

Your blogger wants to take this spot to greet Miss World Philippines 2014 Official Candidate Lorraine Kendrickson – who turned 20 years old today – a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I think I have a pretty good idea what her birthday wish is. Will it be granted come October 12?
Let’s see! 😉
