There are actually four (4) remaining Independents in Binibining Pilipinas 2021 – Gabrielle Basiano, Honey Cartasano, Lesley Anne Ticaro and Lois Badando.

Allow me to share the advocacy videos of two – one who is a favorite to win a crown and another one who can be considered a spoiler (and whose advocacy is my personal favorite among the 34).

34 Binibinis: 4 Independents, 6 Aces & Queens, 24 KF

Up to now, the impact of beauty camps in Bb. Pilipinas has always been topic of conversation. It cannot be denied that the support of an established group can do wonders to the bid of any aspiring beauty queen.

In the case of Bb Pilipinas 2021, the analysis can get more interesting.

The four Independents – Lois, Gabby, Honey and Lesley

Just look at the four (4) Independents. Two of them are considered front-runners, and crown-worthy at that. Gabrielle Basiano under RL’s Angels and Honey Cartasano under Paolo Ballesteros are reaping the benefits of a targeted training. Their pictorials are always well-handled, just as the concepts are carefully planned. It is also beneficial that these two ladies have glam teams all to themselves. And lest you forget, Lesley Ticaro is a potential spoiler. She may not have the most physically-present Tagum-based core group all the time because of distance. But on her own, she is starting to shine.

Six from Aces & Queens: Patricia Denise, Shaira, Cindy, Karen Laurrie, Hannah and Carina

As far as Aces & Queens is concerned, they may only have six to offer. But let’s be honest. Half of them could be eventual winners. Hannah Arnold, Karen Laurrie Mendoza and Patricia Denise Babista are strong contenders, while Cindy Obeñita, Carina Cariño and Shaira Rona can never be classified as push-overs. If camp affiliation is not an “issue”, it would be easy to predict two crowns going to this camp.

And lastly, the dominating group in Bb Pilipinas 2021 is Kagandahang Flores with twenty-four (24).

And the rest are all from KF, 24 in total

It would be unimaginable to see them not getting two crowns at least. By sheer percentage or probability, KF stands to shine the most in terms of numbers and presence. With Vickie Rushton already out of the race, the flag-bearer position has unquestionably landed on the lap of Maureen Montagne. I just cannot see her going home empty-handed at this point.

Next to MM, the ones likeliest to be plucked out for serious consideration are Justine Felizarta, Patrizia Garcia, Francesca Taruc and Samantha Panlilio.

And there are only four (4) crowns at stake. It makes me wonder if BPCI will resurrect the Bb. Pilipinas Tourism crown so that there will be a 5th titleholder who can be earmarked for a possible new franchise that they can acquire after the finals. Or perhaps, have four (4) runners-up for a change.

The most highly coveted of ornamental plants, the delicate, exotic and graceful Waling-waling represents love, luxury, beauty and strength. In some Philippine tribes of Calayan islands, Manobo, Bagobo, Aeta, Waling-walings are worshipped and revered as diwata of the forest. Endemic to the provinces of Mindanao, it is apt and just to take this majestic Queen of Philippine Orchids to the center stage.

Being a deity of the indigenous Mindanao tribes, a beautiful relationship between the Waling-waling and the indigenous people is weaved, hence, this proudly Mindanaoan national costume for Tagum City Binibining Pilipinas bet, Binibini 38 Lesley Anne Ticaro. Drawing inspiration from 11 tribes of Mindanao, this Waling-waling couture gown shows the flourishing and abundant culture and tradition of the ethnic groups.

With the genius of Davao-based designer, Mark Joseph Sayad, the T’nalak of the Tiboli and Inaul of Maguindanaoan were sewn to highlight the skilled tribesmen meanwhile creating a transforming masterpiece fit for a Binibini.

Binibinis 31-40: Upper Half

Of the four batches of Binibinis for Bb. Pilipinas 2020, the last one is where I had the least difficulty splitting the ten into the upper and lower halves. I don’t want to say that this is the weakest, but with the quality of the ladies presented in the 2nd and 3rd groups, there are only enough spots to fill the semifinal placements if tomorrow night would happen to be the finals.

Be that as it may, #Binibini36 Vickie Rushton is the runaway leader in this pack. And rightfully so. She has the maturity and experience to lay down on the table for BPCI to see and appreciate. True, #Binibini33 Alexandra Faith Garcia is another veteran to contend with. Reason why she is my second in this lineup. If both ladies will stand side-by-side, the former can easily upend the latter physically. Q&A-wise, though, they are practically even.

#Binibini32 Danica Acuña is promising. She has the spunk in personality and knows how to make herself shine with ease. Her beauty is also very engaging on top of a sweet presence. Just like #Binibini38 Lesley Ticaro but with a more adorably ‘provinciana’ authenticity to her character.

#Binibini37 Alexangela Salvador, on the other hand, is the aggressor when it comes to public speaking. This young entrepreneur – who is now building her own hostel in Siargao among other places – is not about to give way to the tongue-tied or shy fellow candidates. She knows how to step up like a true youngblood of a businesswoman.

Coming up with this list of 20 is already tough as it is. I had to sacrifice a few of the Binibinis because I initially had 23 (with the inclusion of Vianca Marcelo, Kimberly Anne Tiquestiques and Lesley Anne Ticaro). With 40 contenders, cutting them in half at this point is more ideal. I am confident, though, that the five (5) new titleholders will be among the ladies named above.

Meet the newest Aces&Queens lady in Bb. Pilipinas 2020. She joined and qualified as an Independent. But now, she is officially the 7th member of the camp in the competition.

Representing Tagum, Davao Del Norte, Lesley might be remembered by some eagle-eyed pageant watchers as part of Mutya Pilipinas 2019 where she made it to the Top 12. She is 26 years old and stands 5’6”. A Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English graduate from the University of Southeastern Philippines
Tagum Campus, she works as a Public School Teacher at the Sto. Niño National High School in the Talaingod District, Division of Davao del Norte.


Aside from being a teacher, she also handles Personality Development and Pasarela workshops to aspiring beauty queens in her province. A self-taught musician, she can play the guitar, bass guitar, ukulele and piano.

Advocacy-wise, she goes all-out for Functional Literacy. As an educator in a remote area of the country, she has seen its importance for the indigenous people (especially the Ata Manobo tribe) to help them get through life.
