When the handlers and the three female models who walked as Philippine representatives to the Asia Model Festival 2017 in Korea went to the atelier of Designer Kim Gan to do fittings for pull out, they asked the latter for traditional Filipino attires.
To that request, Kim very clearly informed them that she does not stock up on Filipiniana (or even Maria Clara) gowns (as it is not what she usually creates) and instead, commits only to custom-made orders from her clients if so requested. Still, the handlers pulled out three numbers – hoping perhaps that the red, white and blue combo would suffice for the requirements of the Korean organizers.

And that is where all the confusions and online bashings started from. Kim Gan was unceremoniously sent to the firing line and was blamed for the traditional show fiasco.
Who is at fault in all of this? The handlers, who should have approached another Designer who can provide the more appropriate traditional attires, but who allegedly did not know the need for the same?
Kim Gan talked to your blogger on the matter and is alarmed that people are pointing fingers at her. She expressedly informed the handlers that her creations are never intended to be showcased as Filipino traditional wear. Why is she now getting bashed for their decision to have the three models wear the red, white and blue outfits (photo below) and have them passed off as such? They know for a fact that people will react negatively.
My blog is open to get the side of the ones who made the three models wear the Kim Gan creations despite knowing of the actual circumstances.
Bb. Pilipinas International 2016 Kylie Verzosa is still enjoying her trip to Capiz and Cebu. She was invited to the Roxas (Gayu-Gayuman) Festival Queen Coronation where she wore a divine Francis Libiran gown. She was also toured around the province as she was accorded the warm hospitality of the locals. From Roxas City, she made her very first visit to the Queen City of the South for some much-needed rest & relaxation before going back to the usual grind here in Manila.
Enjoy your brief vacation, Kylie!
Here are a few photos from the trip.

It was a successful fashion event last night at B Hotel in Quezon City when Designer Kim Gan unveiled her latest collection of Gakuya/Seishun which is very Japanese-inspired but filled with a lot of unique touches only she can come up with.
Beauty Queens/Kings and Professional Models walked the ramp, including Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa, Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 and 2015 Bianca Guidotti & Janicel Lubina, Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2014 and 2015 Yvethe Santiago & Rogelie Catacutan, Mister World Philippines 2015 Sam Ajdani, Miss World Philippines 1st Runner-Up Cassandra Naidas, Kim Ross delos Santos, Alaiza Malinao and more.

Your blogger has been invited by Kim Gan herself to this event
Just the other day, I had the pleasure of receiving an invite from chic Designer Kim Gan to her fashion event this coming April 28. What made the exclusive invitation more special was the fact that the lady behind Gakuya herself transmitted the same to me. And with Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago and Bb. Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti as lead models, of course, I will be there!

In what could be the most visually arresting image of Pia thus far, Ronnie Diaz shot our Queen in a very editorial output that had her styled with less make-up and more impact. It is striking to say the least, and could sum up the overall peg that the new Miss Universe owners are looking for – sophisticated, conversation-getting, very model-ish and all. Her long swan-like neck gives the added eye-candy to the whole frame.
What say you about this latest Pia photo, dear readers? 🙂
Here are more photos of Miss Philippines MJ Lastimosa during the red gown photoshoot for the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant in Doral Miami. And our bet is looking more and more ravishing here.
A friend of mine asked Leo Almodal if he is the one who made the gown.
He just answered with a smile. 🙂
Is that a yes? No? Then it really must be the Kim Gan creation one of our readers corrected. Regardless, it’s nice to know that a non-BPCI piece made it to her wardrobe.
Anyways, what do you think of these shots?
