Here are KF Cebu’s bets for Bb. Pilipinas 2018:
Eva Patalinjug – the former Mutya ng Pilipinas titleholder who is now dead-set on nailing another national crown that will allow her to compete abroad;
Doc Ena Louis Velasco – the Doctor of Medicine who plans to use the national platform in furthering her causes for health and wellness.

The refreshing beauty of Cynthia Thomalla for Bb. Pilipinas 2017
Cynthia & I during last year’s Niyogyugan Festival in Lucena
Under most everyone’s radar, Cynthia Thomalla has been curiously circling since she placed 3rd during Miss Southern Leyte 2012 before winning Miss Pintados the following year. So when she resurfaced as Sinulog Festival Queen 2016 and went on to represent Cebu’s well-loved annual celebration en route to winning Reyna ng Aliwan 2016, the interest just got more heated up. It was only a matter of short time before KF Cebu would finally field her in the nationals. Talk is that she is being trained for Bb. Pilipinas. But will it finally be for 2017?
Anyways, watch the video of Cynthia when she guested in the radio program of a Lucena-based DJ during last year’s Niyogyugan Festival (at exactly the same time that we met again for the judging of the street dancing and dance showdown competitions).
Don’t you just love the gorgeousness of Cynthia Thomalla?
Cynthia is sweetness overload especially if you get to spend time getting to know her more (just like what I went through when we were seated beside each other for hours
). There is an infectious quality in the kind of beauty she possesses – part showbiz pop idol, part inspiring girl-next-door. If and when she takes part in Bb. Pilipinas 2017, she could be a frontrunner as one of the outstanding faces in this batch.
Your take on Cynthia, dear readers? 🙂
Another potential contender for Bb. Pilipinas 2016: Sasha Tajaran
Now here is a Cebu-trained Romblon native being groomed for Bb. Pilipinas 2016, I was told. If and when I get to see her flying off to Manila next month, then the feelers are turning out to be true. And if memory serves me right, I already saw a picture of her training with the other potential joiners of KF Cebu in next year’s nationals.
Sasha is Maria Fee Tajaran on the dotted line. She is a photographic model for some of the more notable lensmen in the Queen City of the South, my Russian friend Artem Levy included. Some of you might even remember her as joining last year’s Miss Tourism World Philippines search. But that was a relatively forgettable stint, if you ask me. She was still less polished during the time and took part just to get a taste of the bigger beauty competitions here in Manila.
But Sasha has been transformed now. The beast mode may still be lingering in the background, but she has the potential to step it up and lock horns with the other notable (and whispered) applicants of Bb. Pilipinas 2016.
Watch out for more of Sasha in the weeks to come! 🙂
Her name is Maria Fee Tajaran. Call her Sasha for short.
Maria Gigante: Cebu’s best bet for Bb. Pilipinas 2016?
If the buzz coming from my reliable sources are to be followed, the beautifully exotic Maria Gigante could be one of Cebu’s prime bets for Bb. Pilipinas 2016. The girl has been doing several photoshoots the past few months that all I’ve been waiting is for the extremely busy December pageant season to cut me some slack and find time to feature this gorgeous lady who is both warm and well-spoken.
And the hype for Maria couldn’t have come at a better time. In fact, she could be one of the first to openly express an interest in joining the 2016 beauty fray. And KF Cebu is not amiss in preparing her for the sweet opportunity. With Bb. Pilipinas now offering six (6) titles at stake, the beeline for applications at the Araneta Center could be longer than usual. The chances of winning a national title has just gotten better, especially if BPCI will stick to its usual number of Official Candidates.
Watch out for more on Maria Gigante in the weeks to come. 🙂
Flash that winning smile, Maria!
Slimmers World Miss Bikini Philippines 2015 Tim Alsowyed is Korea-bound next month to represent the Philippines in Miss Global Beauty Queen 2025 which will take place in Seoul from October 5-19.
The 24 year-old beauty who is a Literature major at Silliman University is being prepared for the pageant by KF Cebu and Origin Model Management. She was a former runner-up during Miss Casino Filipino 2014 where the winner was Rogelie Catacutan who is now Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2015.
The contest in Seoul should not be confused with the controversy-marred World Beauty Queen 2015 as this is being handled by a different organization altogether.
Let us all wish Tim good luck for Miss Global Beauty Queen 2015! 🙂
The girl’s name is Ena Velasco. She recently won Miss Mandaue 2015
The onslaught of beauties of Cebu continues. This time, the winner of the recently-concluded Miss Mandaue 2015 comes to your screen. Her name is Ena Velasco, standing 5’9″ and a product of Sven Chua’s Origin Model Management which handles the modeling careers of Jamie Herrell and Gazini Ganados.
Back in 2012, Ena was named Miss Masskara in Bacolod. A year after, she went on to claim the Miss Southwestern University title which awarded her a meaningful prize – 100% scholarship to take up her Medicine studies in the institution. In between, she takes ramp and print modeling assignments for earn her own keep.
But being part of KF Cebu could only mean that Jonas Borces will groom her for Bb. Pilipinas, either next year or 2017. So do you think she has the potentials to follow the likes of Kris Tiffany Janson and Rogelie Catacutan in the nationals? 😉

Binibini 1 Samantha Balbin and Binibini 25 Rogelie Catacutan: who’s floating your boat between the two? (Photo credit: Joy Arguil)
As Binibini 1, Samantha Balbin takes the lead in roll calls and stage entrances. And she has the responsibility of wowing everyone instantly. Binibini 25 Rogelie Catacutan, on the other hand, has the luxury of taking some sweet time before appearing in all her beautiful glory. But numbers are beside the point. Regardless of who comes out first or later, the more important thing is who will be the outstanding candidate.
And in this face-off, I’d have to give it to the Cebuana hands down. Rogelie has been showing the way, together with the perceived favorites. Samantha, on the other hand, can be looked at as coasting along with modest progress.
If Samantha is the image of innocence, Rogelie is the picture of tempered class
Handler Jontie Martinez will be most happy if his ward Samantha gets to advance to the semi-finals at least. KF Cebu’s Jonas Borces, for his part, would love – more than anything else – for Rogelie to take home a Bb. Pilipinas crown on March 15.
Whose wish will likely be granted? Kanang ikaduha. 🙂
