Rhian Ramos (right) and Glaiza de Castro play lovers in “The Rich Man’s Daughter” on GMA-7
If you still don’t know by now, there is a more-than-a-week-old teleserye
on GMA-7 that tackles the story of true love between two women titled “The Rich Man’s Daughter” – from the same team that brought us “My Husband’s Lover” almost two years ago.
The synopsis (as stated on Wikipedia): As Jade (Played by Rhian Ramos) discovers something about herself and upholds her personal truths, will she still be able to experience unconditional love from her family and friends? Will she be able to hold on to her personal truths and fight for her love even if it will destroy her family? She is a woman looking for answers. Is she willing to break her family’s traditions? The youngest and only daughter, Jade is the family’s jewel. When she meets Althea, everyone’s perspective of her life and personal changes.

Mona Louise Rey portrays the titular role in GMA-7's 'Munting Heredera'
I can really be a sucker for tearjerkers so I just had to blog about this new child performer on GMA-7 who breaks my heart every weekday night that I watch her on ‘Munting Heredera” (Little Heiress). Mona Louise Rey plays the role of Jennifer, a little girl who got separated from her real mother and father after birth, got adopted by a gay teacher whose Aunt beats the hell out of the poor waif and is now taken away by her supposed ‘real’ mother who turns out to be the head of a syndicate exploiting children into begging on the streets. Yes, it’s the stuff that can get emotionally cheesy but I just had to follow the teleserye and see how Jennifer’s life will turn for the better.
Here are video clips from the May 28 and 31 episodes:

If you have followed the series since it premiered last month, I think we’ll be in agreement that Mona Louise Rey is a natural performer who makes each of her scenes both endearing and believable. I know that ABS-CBN’s Xyriel Manabat packs an acting wallop in her latest “100 Days to Heaven”, but Mona is, quite simply, a joy to watch. Most especially now when the story has reached the point when the kid is being used by the syndicate to peddle drugs outside an exclusive school. It’s truly heart-tugging. (Pardon if am over-reacting but I don’t like seeing child exploitation like that.)
Try catching “Munting Heredera” if you can. It airs Mondays to Fridays on GMA-7’s Telebabad primetime block after Amaya, and stars Ms. Gloria Romero, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Camille Prats, Katrina Halili, Roderick Paulate, Krystal Reyes, Joyce Ching, Kristoffer Martin, Neil Ryan Sese and introducing Mona Louise Rey as Jennifer. The series is directed by the ever-reliable and multi-awarded Film & TV Director Maryo J. Delos Reyes. 😉
Tonight starts the newest teleserye of GMA-7 that revolves around the beautiful, wonderful, intriguing and dramatic world of beauty pageants, and it is aptly titled “Beauty Queen“. It is about three ladies – Maita (Iza), Rebecca (Maggie) and Dorcas (Katrina) – who, separately, have different stories to tell about how they ended up competing for the (fictional) beauty title of Bb. Isla Pilipinas 2010 – detailing the tears, heartaches, and obstacles they had to go through in order to achieve their childhood dreams.

As of this writing, the participation of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Venus Raj in the said drama series is still uncertain. It appears that Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) has not given the go-signal for her entry into the world of TV acting. Nevertheless, “Beauty Queen” is sure to be a hit because this is the first time that a full-blown series will be devoted to one of the Filipinos’ biggest passions – beauty pageants.
The three ladies above will be joined by a powerhouse cast led by Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, TJ Trinidad, Marvin Agustin, Elizabeth Oropesa, Luis Alandy, Carmi Martin, Bembol Roco, Juan Rodrigo, Marky Lopez, Ricci Chan, Bubbles Paraiso, Victor Aliwalas, Tomas Gonzales and many more. Directed by Joel Lamangan, the series will air weeknights on GMA-7’s Telebabad primetime block @9:45PM right after Ilumina.
Watch out for it! 😉
Things are getting brighter and brighter for Miss Unverse 2010 4th Runner-Up Venus Raj. She recently made a courtesy call to Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim where she was formally given the Key to Manila, aside from being declared as the city’s Adopted Daughter – a well-deserved accolade indeed. Here’s the press release from GMANews.TV:
Venus Raj now an adopted daughter of Manila
The Manila government has passed a resolution declaring Miss Universe fourth runner-up Ma. Venus Raj as an adopted daughter of the city.
The resolution was principally co-authored by councilors Josie Siscar and Niño dela Cruz.
Raj on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Alfredo Lim who, along with other city officials and councilors, welcomed her warmly.
City hall employees also joined in welcoming the statuesque beauty queen from Bicol.
Among those who welcomed Raj were former Miss International Gemma Cruz-Araneta, who now heads the city’s tourism and cultural affairs bureau; city legal officer lawyer Renato dela Cruz; and Lim’s chief of staff and media bureau chief Ric de Guzman.
Siscar, Dela Cruz, lawyer Bimbo Quintos XVI and Ian Nieva joined other city hall officials in presenting the resolution declaring Raj as an adopted daughter of Manila.
Lim also presented Raj a key to the city and expressed pride over her achievements. “For the hearts of many Filipinos, Raj is our Miss Universe,” he said in a statement.
Raj, for her part, expressed her gratitude to the city officials for affording her warm welcome. She also welcomed the privileges afforded to her by the city. – KBK, GMANews.TV
What’s more, Venus is now a Certified Kapuso Talent. She will make her debut acting project as part of the upcoming GMA-7 primetime teleserye (beautyserye if you will) “The Beauty Queen” where she will be featured alongside lead actress Iza Calzado and supporting players Gloria Diaz (Miss Universe 1969), Maggie Wilson (Bb. Pilipinas-World 2007), Katrina Halili, Marvin Agustin and TJ Trinidad.
This primetime series will start airing next month, replacing Endless Love which wraps up by early October.
Venus is really going great guns nowadays, long after her Miss Universe achievement! 😉
Just when you thought that only the gorgeous guys will get the spotlight for the BENCH/uncut show on July 2, 2010 at the Araneta Coliseum, think again. Their female counterparts are just as fiery and will not take things seating down. Here is a quick photo rundown of some of the ladies who will glide down the ramp in their most sizzling attires. I’m sure some of them will even take things one step further and don skimpy get-ups that will send the male members of the audience shouting for more!
So as you can see above, the ladies are up to the challenge as well.
Have you started saving up for the ticket? Or have you already checked out the Bench stores for available tickets?
Do it now! 😉
I’ve always had this fondness for international flight attendants with their fashionably crisp & tailored uniforms, strategically-positioned caps, and high-heeled gaits while pulling their travel-light luggages. So when GMA-7 started airing the trailer of their latest teleserye “Langit Sa Piling Mo” (Heaven In Your Arms or Heaven In Your Company), I watched it with much interest since the plot revolves around the life of a stewardess, the people around her and the ongoings inside the airport halls.
Here are the engaging trailers of the teleserye which will have its premiere on May 31 under GMA-7’s Telebabad primetime block:

Heart Evangelista stars in the lead together with a strong cast – Mark Herras, Tonton Gutierrez, JC Tiuseco, Daniel Matsunaga, Katrina Halili, Rey Abellana, Sheryl Cruz, Ryza Cenon, Maritoni Fernandez, Ricardo Cepeda, Joanne Santos, Jay Aquitania, Soliman Cruz, Arci Munoz, Sylvia Sanchez, Marky Lopez, Say Alonzo, Joey Paras, Evelyn Vargas and Joonee Gamboa.
Do give this teleserye a try. It looks promising. 😉
