These photos warm the cockles of my heart. And why not? This is the first year that Miss Universe Philippines accepted a Mother for an Official Candidate. And the Province of Benguet must be proud of her.

The happiness in the faces of Joemay Leo and her adorable daughter Courkin can only be summed up in one word – infectious and in a very good way.

I never imagined joining pageants once again after becoming a mom. But who says moms can’t slay the universe? With much pride and honor, I am beyond blessed to represent the whole Igorot tribe. This avenue holds an excellent opportunity to showcase a world-class Igorota beauty.

After endless doubts and questions, we are finally here. Thank you so much to my strong support system, who continued believing and never doubted me. I dedicate this journey to my family and my little one.

I am a mom. I am a Cordilleran. I am empowered.
