Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 is definitely in full swing. With the arrival of the international candidates along with most of the provincial bets last October 25, the pre-pageant activities have been ongoing one after another.
A group visit to Malacañan Palace was made. Led by Ms. Lynette Padolina and Marcott Almeda, the ladies – most of whom have never been inside the place yet – were given a special tour. President Noynoy Aquino was scheduled to briefly meet with them, but the busy campaign schedule prevailed so they had to settle for a photo op with the life-sized wax figure of him.
On to Solaire Resort and Casino, the swimsuit photoshoot took place with media photographers angling for the best positions to capture the beautiful Miss RP girls in their two-piece swimwears.
The Press Presentation should be up next, with each of the contenders expected to shine through with hopes of becoming the media favorite.

So what could prevent Emma from rejoining Bb. Pilipinas next year? Her contract with MWP? Possibly. But she could also do a Bianca Paz and not get tied down. Or she could wait for Bb. Pilipinas 2017.
Regardless, I want to see this girl in Gateway and Araneta Coliseum once again. 😉

Hillarie Danielle Parungao is on Cloud 9 right now. And why not? She is Miss World Philippines 2015 and will be going to Sanya, China for Miss World 2015 this coming late November till December 20.
During last night’s finals, our new Queen was on some sort of caterpillar ride that zoomed up like a rollercoaster during the competition. She knew that being a top favorite to win had its big share of pressures and expectations. She needed to deliver big-time. And she did. After winning majority of the special awards, it was like everything was going A-okay. When Top 13 Q&A came, she still came through as one of the seven best performers. But after being named Top 5 and getting into the judges’ questions, her nerves started to show. She knew that her answer, while not bad, wasn’t good enough to lock the crown for good. And so, she felt disappointed backstage and thought that she might have already given her #1 spot away.

But such is fate. If the victory is meant for a particular person, then it will happen no matter what. There was just no way of the results being announced any other way. She was cumulatively the champion in all areas.

At the end of the event, ten (10) of them were deemed qualified to move on to the Final NCR and National Screening scheduled for July 21, where this year’s batch will be completed and joined by the representatives from the different regional searches and the entries from various Filipino Communities abroad.

Mutya Datul shoots for her Kvision endorsement
Not everything’s quiet on the Mutya Johanna Datul front nowadays. Our Miss Supranational 2013 who has the honor of being the very first Filipina and Asian to win the Europe-based crown is the endorser of Kvision, a company which markets a wide assortment of sound systems for the local market. And for the latest pictorial with photographer-friend Jhosh Rodriguez, she gamely posed for its latest Karaoke/Videoke machine where multiple music DVDs can be placed for more endless singing sessions with friends and family members.
Mutya keeps her love life very private, reason why she would rather focus on work instead of discussing about personal affairs. And you can’t help but let this beautiful soul keep things the way she wants them to be. She continues to have one of the nicest and sunniest personalities among our Bb. Pilipinas titleholders. Not even the additional prestige of being an international pageant winner has gone into her head. And that’s why she is truly a joy to work with all the time. 🙂

Talents from all three TV networks were represented, with Karylle, Sam Milby, Ejay Falcon and Julie Anne San Jose leading the charge. Popular teen idols Barbie Forteza, Enzo Pineda, Bea Binene, Derrick Monasterio, Eula Caballero, Martin Escudero, Valeen Montenegro, Vin Abrenica, Sophie Albert, Joshua Dionisio and Ken Chan were also on hand to entertain. Boyband Upgrade, sexy all-female group Sassy Girls and the guys from Juan Direction added excitement to the proceedings. And pageantry-wise, two Mister International winners – Neil Perez and Jose Anmer Paredes – also gave a pleasantly surprising dance number alongside Mr. Global Philippines Joseph Doruelo and runner-up Nicko Cruz.

Is there really a surplus of beauties in Bb. Pilipinas 2015 that we are getting too sidelined by just a handful of favorites and overlooking the presence of some Binibinis who deserve just as much attention?
One might say, “In a leaner year, perhaps..there are those I neglect before who will shine better in a leaner year.” But do we really mean that? I have learned time and again that, given a batch with slim pickings, all I can hear are complaints and all.
Let us shower some attention on Binibinis 16 Marvi Ann de Lima and 6 Toni Alyessa Hipolito. These ladies are both bright and beautiful, down-to-earth and charming even. And I really won’t be surprised if the judges will also take a shine on them.
Marvi and Toni exemplify Filipinas who figuratively wear their heart and mind on their sleeves. They can express themselves well and know where they stand on things that matter to the modern women of today.

The upcoming days will signal the homestretch of this year’s nationals. And I hope both of them will have just as much chance to prove their worth as Bb. Pilipinas. 😉

Last night, crowns for male pageants finally made its way to the heads of the winners of Mr. Republic of the Philippines 2015. And instead of sporting designs that would distract the audience from the actual wearers, creator Marvin Marasigan Mañalac (of Marvin Creates) opted to come up with a laurel-type of head adornment which did not diminish their masculine appeal. On the contrary, it enhanced their images of victory, in my opinion.

And so we’re down to the 17th and last in our Binibini Face-Off series. This one is not necessarily a case of saving the best match for last. But after I reviewed all the sixteen (16) previous one-on-ones, the two remaining ladies still come from opposing beauty camps. We now reach full circle with a clash of candidates from Aces & Queens and Kagandahang Flores.
Binibini 15 Paula Rich Bartolome and Binibini 22 Anja-Vanessa Peter are two entirely different charmers. While the former is an all-Pinay challenger from Laguna, the one-time junior tennis darling is a mixed-race comer who is bringing her uniqueness to the table, sans previous non-pageant achievements.

Paula has a string of regional and national pageant experiences to lean on, while Anja is relying on her God-given talent for discipline and competitiveness.
Aura-wise, the Aces & Queens bet can be compared to a Victoria’s Secret scent – “… the whimsical, spring fragrance that lingers…” Meanwhile, the KF entry is like a Jo Malone EDT – “sandalwood and cedarwood seasoned with nutmeg and vibrant ginger…”
I will stop making all these comparisons. It’s time to score an ace.
