Congratulations to Joanna Camelle Mercado of the Philippines. She is Miss United Continents 2022!
Camelle defeated 24 other candidates from different parts of the world to become our second big winner in the pageant after Jeslyn Santos last 2016.
Her five runners-up include Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Paraguay and Mexico in that order.
I just love the spunk of Camelle. She was a one-woman band in Ecuador who relied on her strong determination to stand out from start to finish. Her interview in Spanglish definitely made her stand out in the Top 6. When it was just Filipinas and the host delegate in the Final 2, it’s easy to tell that the crown is already hers!
Congratulations once more, Filipinas!
2 days to go until the Grand Coronation Night of Miss United Continents 2022!
Show your support and love to our Miss Filipinas 2022 Camelle Mercado as she sets the stage on fire in this year’s Finals Night on August 7 streaming live on Facebook (Portoviejo nace de ti Page) at 8:00 AM (PHT).
Our bet has been doing well so far. Her latest achievement is placing 1st Runner Up in the National Costume Competition. Let’s hope that she keeps the positive momentum going.

Earlier this evening at Limbaga 77 Restaurant, an official send-off was hosted by Miss United Continents Philippines Organization for our appointed Miss United Continents Philippines 2022 Joanna Camelle Mercado who will depart on July 19 for Guayaquil, Ecuador where she will represent the country in this year’s edition of Miss United Continents.
Camelle – who stands at 5’9” – is no pageant newbie even if Miss World Philippines 2019 was the only notable turn among her beauty contest participations. In fact, she started joining at the age of 16 with school and provincial competitions. And now in her biggest challenge to date, she is ready to face the battle. Her Spanish language facility may still be short of conversational levels, but her charming and friendly ways should make up for any part that gets lost in translation.
Hopes are high that this 26 year-old Kapampangan will do well in the international competition and hopefully bring back the crown last won in 2016 by National Director Jeslyn Santos herself.
Below are more photos from the send-off.

Miss United Continents Philippines Organization unveils its queen for this year’s edition.
The Miss United Continents Philippines Organization is under new management that is led by owner and National Director, Jeslyn Santos, Miss United Continents 2016. With her is Jean Tumang, Miss Tourism Philippines Model of the Universe 2016 as General Manager and Andy Cayna, International Media Photographer as the organization’s Public Relations Director.
The organization aims to help and support aspiring beauty queens to showcase the true meaning of “Uniquely Beautiful” Filipina.
Looking back, Miss United Continents Philippines has produced its international queen, our National Director, Jeslyn Santos. The team then was headed by the late Mr. John De La Vega. He was the one who first brought the Miss United Continents here in the Philippines.
2016 was the year when the First Asian and First Filipina was crowned in Guayaquil, Ecuador. It happened during De La Vega’s supervision, that early, he already made a mark in the international scene.
With that being said, the organization will work towards the success of this year’s edition.
A woman who is strong, empowered, unique, and confident are the qualities we are looking for.
And the team is happy to announce that we found the right girl, the Uniquely Beautiful Filipina.

You might remember her as Miss World Philippines candidate in the past
She has a degree in Secondary Education and is a Teacher by profession. She is 26 years of age, and she is Joanna Camelle Mercado – our Miss United Continents Philippines 2022.
Camelle is set to compete in the Miss United Continents 2022 Pageant to be held in Portoviejo, Ecuador.
The pageant’s activities will start on July 21, with the coronation night happening on August 6.
We in the Miss United Continents Philippines Organization are determined to prove that Filipinas are worth the crown, an international crown.
The whole organization is with Camelle on her journey to the Miss United Continents crown.

Was it the final Q&A delivered in Spanish that convinced the judges to crown a Filipina last 2016 as Miss United Continents or Miss Continentes Unidos? Or did Jeslyn Santos present herself most consistently all throughout the competition? I believe it was destiny and all of the above. To actually participate in a Latina-dominated pageant in Guayaquil, Ecuador can already pose a big challenge for any Miss Filipinas. But just like Teresita Ssen Marquez who proved unstoppable in Bolivia on her way to the Reina Hispanoamericana title a year after, this lovely Bulakenya defied all odds and rose to the occasion to become the first Filipina winner of the title. Below are highlights of her performance in the finals.
Jeslyn paid her pageant dues with much hardwork and patience from the very first time that mentor John dela Vega started fielding her in Bb. Pilipinas. They also joined forces for the country’s participation in Miss World Peace 2015 held in Hong Kong. And unbeknownst to the two of them, it would still be their unbreakable duo that will pave the way for the trip to Ecuador for the international pageant. Miss United Continents is one pageant franchise that the latter firmly held on through the years.
What a glorious achievement indeed for this lady whose roots are from the same municipality your blogger comes from – Hagonoy.

This is the moment that Sarah Jireh Cruz Asido of Bulacan has been looking forward to for the longest – the opportunity to represent the country in the international pageant stage. And as Jewel of the Philippines | Miss United Continents Philippines 2018, she will be departing on September 7 for Guayaquil, Ecuador where this year’s edition of Miss United Continents will be hosted from September 8-22.
The Port City is getting ready to receive the candidates for the Miss United Candidates.
The representatives of the countries will arrive soon in Guayaquil City this September 8 and They are going to visit different touristic locations of Ecuador, getting prepared for the Final Contest on September 22 in the Conventions Center of Guayaquil.

Everything is all set for Sarah as her mentor John dela Vega has painstakingly built her daily wardrobe and accessories and trained her in pasarela plus Miguel West who guided her on how to get away with the best amount of conversational Spanish that will serve the purpose of impressing the hosts, fellow delegates and the locals.
Will she be able to follow the footsteps of another Bulakenya – Jeslyn Santos – who was the Philippines’ first big winner in the said pageant? We’ll see!
Best of luck, Sarah!

The last time a beautiful lass from my hometown of Hagonoy, Bulacan stepped up to the national stage of pageantry was during 2014 and 2016 when Jeslyn Santos took part in both editions of Bb. Pilipinas. But it was outside this competition where she would achieve international fame. Iniially with Miss World Peace In Hingkong and more successfully, Miss United Continents in Ecuador where she became the first Filipina to win that crown for the country.
In 2018, another potential winner is representing Hagonoy, Bulacan and she has more than bragging rights for being the tallest Binibini this year at 5’11”. She is the reigning Binibining Bulacan Anjame Santos Magbitang, 20, who is a truly beautiful and exotic stunner who could either spoil things up for the early favorites or take the loving interest of the BPCI people and be groomed for something that she richly deserves.
I asked Anjame about her thoughts on being a 2018 Binibini:
“Beauty contests give women of different cultures and ethnicities all over the world the opportunity to showcase not just their beauty, personality and potentials but also their intelligence in local, national and international settings. Binibining Pilipinas serves as a training ground for women like me to gain courage and introduce meaningful advocacies. And if given a chance to win one of the crowns, I would use it as a symbol of faith and hope that a girl like me can be a beauty queen on my own merits. If I put all of my heart into something that I want, them the universe will surely conspire in my favor, as a famous quote goes.
A beauty pageant is a celebration of beauty, unity and camaraderie. I have very supportive parents who have always been there for me as not all the girls who join are supported by their family. And most of all, I have a child-like faith that God will walk me through the path of becoming one of the queens. I have prepared for this and I believe that I am equipped with all that it takes to be a Binibining Pilipinas winner.”
Your thoughts on Anjame, dear readers?

Teresita Ssen “WinWyn” Marquez is helping drum up the interest for Reina Hispanoamericana after winning the Filipinas title during the Miss World Philippines 2017 finals last September 3. Her celebrity status invites people to know more about the international competition scheduled to happen in Bolivia in November. And she is loving every minute of it.
I really feel that giving her this title is very apt because she is committed to doing double time in making our first-ever participation more significant and news-worthy. A reader asked if she will use a Spanish translator once in La Paz. For sure, there will be a back-up. But I also reckon that she will learn as much of the language to put across her message in the same. If Miss United Continents 2016 Jeslyn Santos delivered her answers in Spanish during the finals in Guayaquil, then so will she. And a lot more, if I may add.
Do watch the crowning moment of last year’s finals now.
