Miss Earth 2010 Nicole Faria of India - the first from her country to win the crown.
In the just-concluded Miss Earth 2010 at the Vinpearl Amphitheatre in Nha Trang, Vietnam, Nicole Faria of India won her country’s first-ever Miss Earth title. The 20-year old model from Bangalore bested 83 other candidates for the crown and held on to her status as one of the strong favorites up to the last minute.
The three other elemental beauties are: Jennifer Pazmino of Ecuador (1st RU and Miss Air), Watsoporn Wattanakoon of Thailand (2nd RU and Miss Water) and Yeidy Bosques of Puerto Rico (3rd RU and Miss Fire).
The remaining ladies in the Top 7 are Mariangela Bonanni of Venezuela, Marina Kishara of Japan and Nondyebo Dzingwa of South Africa.
The other delegates who made it to the Top 14 (semifinalists) are Desiree van den Berg of the Netherlands, Victoria Schukina of Russia, Luu Thi Diem Huong of Vietnam, Ilenia Arnolfo of Italy, Danielle Bounds of the USA, Carmen Justova of the Czech Republic and Alexandra Nikitina of Ukraine.
Congratulations, Nicole! 😉

Miss Earth-Ecuador, Jennifer Pazmino, wins Best in Long Gown at Miss Earth 2010.
A pleasantly surprised Jennifer Pazmino, Miss Earth-Ecuador, was adjudged Best in Long Gown among the delegates of Miss Earth 2010. After placing in the Top 5 of the National Costume Competition, she now claimed one of the more important Special Awards of the pageant and is now considered one of the favorites for the crown.

I must admit that Miss Earth-Japan Marina Kishira’s National Costume doesn’t look like one at all. In fact, it could pass for the Evening Gown Parade if you ask me, albeit tacky it may seem in design. But then again, the judges must have scored her high in presentation skills because she carried the outfit with such clockwork precision, coupled with sharp turns and poses (as you can see in the video above). That could be the only reason why she upended the other ladies in the Top 4, namely, Luisa de Almeida Lopes of Brazil, Jennifer Pazmino of Ecuador, Nondyedo Dzingwa of South Africa and Claudia Lopez Mollinedo of Mexico.
The announcement of the winner was made by Miss Earth 2009, Larissa Ramos.
Outside the Top 5 above, here are my personal favorites in their National Costumes:
Mariangela Bonanni of Venezuela
Lee Gui-Joo of Korea
Nicolle Morrell of Panama
Luu Thii Diem Huong of Vietnam
Watsaporn Wattanakoon of Thailand
Kudos to Miss Earth-Japan! 😉
