These ladies may be symbols of beauty, grace and environmental relevance. But bring them to an amusement park and the kid in each one of them gets untangled like children out on a field trip after a long time inside the classroom.

A group of Miss Earth 2012 delegates spent one afternoon enjoying the rides at Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. And what fun they had! Sure, there was a ceremonial tree-planting made around the greener areas, but after getting it over with and done, they all took to the dizzying, albeit exciting, attractions of the place.

At the end of the day, one beauty was awarded Miss Enchanted Kindness, and she happens to be Jenna Seymour of Australia. šŸ™‚

Miss Earth 2012 Challenges: Updated Scorecards as of Nov. 10

With the confusion in the medal tally last Nov. 7, organizers of the Miss Earth 2012 Challenges changed the presentation of the scorecards. This time around, the points coming from medal-earning performances and dutiful participation in each activity have been presented on a per-group manner, whereby the ladies have been divided equally and made to vie for their respective winners of Golds, Silvers, and Bronzes:

ME Turkey Ilknur Melis Durasi’s Time to Shine

Best School Tour Teacher

In Binangonan, Rizal, the Miss Earth 2012 ladies were brought to an eco-school tour where they were tasked to give students classroom lessons on the environment. This being an indication of a spokesperson’s effective ability to impart their knowledge about Mother Earth and other related advocacies, votes were casted on which “teachers” gave the best lecture. As expected, our Scientist ME Turkey Ilknur Melis Durasi was elected the most inspiring/noteworthy and won the Gold Medal as Best School Tour Teacher. She was followed by Carolyn Whitney Carter of US Virgin Islands with the Silver and Shauny Bult of the Netherlands clinching the Bronze.

Best Artists (Mural Painting)

In Katipunan, Quezon City, and with the leadership of Filipino Painter and Environmental Activist AG Sano, the Miss Earth 2012 delegates were divided into two groups and asked to do Mural Paintings inspired by and coinciding with the Dolphins Love Freedom Campaign. It looked like a fun and easy activity. But in the end, it wasn’t enough that they got their hands smeared with paint and all as the two Best Artists (one for Group 1 and another for Group 2) were discovered as the “painters” with the most accurate & creative brushstrokes and use of colors.

Miss England Zahida Begum was selected Best Artist and Gold Medalist in Group 1, with Miss Czech Republic Teresa Fajksova taking Silver and Miss Crimea Lyiudmila Kuzmina hitting Bronze.

Once more, Miss Turkey Ilknur Melis Durasi showed her creative skills in Group 2 after she was awarded the Gold Medal, followed by Silver Medalist Nagma Shrestha of Nepal and Bronze-taker Jenna Seymour of Australia.

Kudos to the winners of these events! šŸ˜€

The Ladies to Watch: My Miss Earth 2012 Pre-Arrival Selection

Since it’s already the start of November and the contenders should start pouring in the country around these days, I decided to post a video showing the beautiful delegates who comprise my Pre-Arrival Favorites for Miss Earth 2012. Do keep in mind that this selection is purely based on online sources. At any rate, will the same ladies remain on top of my scoresheet come Finals Night on November 24? It all depends on how they will present themselves all throughout their stay in Manila. So many things can happen between now and then, so the list is very likely to still have some changes.

Miss Earth Australia 2012 Jenna Seymour

A 21 year-old Psychology major from Macquarie University, Jenna Seymour works on the side with high school students hampered by learning difficulties. A reluctant beauty queen, she dilly-dallied before joining and representing Glenmore Park, NSW in Miss Earth Australia 2012.

“I was a bit hesitant at first but the pageant has a strong environmental focus so it has such a great cause behind it,” she explained.

Now that she will carry the colors of the Land Down Under in Manila, she is more geared towards sharing her knowledge about the pageant’s main focus. Her practical tips?

JENNA’S TIPS:
Car pool wherever possible
Install energy efficient light globes
Use eco-friendly shower heads
Switch off electronics and lights when not in use
Sort your rubbish into the correct recycling bin

Jenna may sound like she’s simply going through the motions, but her commitment is whole-hearted. Will she make Australia proud and hear chantings of “Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi!” come November 24? Let’s see what happens. šŸ˜‰
