The five remaining contenders of GMA-7's Protege'
Tonight will be the final elimination night – before the live finale showdown next week – of GMA-7’s Protege’ (The Battle for the Big Break). There are only five remaining contenders and after the night is over, only three will be left to fight it off for the top prize. The Protege’-Mentor tandems still standing are: Jensen Tenoso-Claire dela Fuente, Krizza Neri-Aiza Seguerra, Nomer Limatog Jr-Rachelle Ann Go, Lirah Bermudez-Janno Gibbs and Lovely Embuscado-Jaya.
My personal choices to make it to the finale are (in this order of preference):
KRIZZA NERI (Cagayan de Oro)

LOVELY EMBUSCADO (Davao)

JENSEN TENOSO (Batangas)

Of the two others I dropped, I can see Lirah Bermudez as the likeliest spoiler to one of my predictions above. Be that as it may, I am open to all sorts of combinations for the Top 3 except for one – Krizza Neri. For me, she is non-negotiable and should make it to the showdown, if not win the competition in the end.
Krizza Neri (R) and Aiza Seguerra - the most outstanding Protege'-Mentor tandem in the show.
Among the mentors, Aiza Seguerra is, hands-down, the best and the most involved in and out of the competition. She is the only one who really went out of her way to focus on the training, guidance and moral support of her protege’, even supporting the other wannabes if need be. Krizza Neri is very lucky to have her.
Watch the live gala tonight on GMA-7 to know which three will make it to the finals on December 18. 🙂

If you have been following GMA-7’s reality talent search ‘Protege’, you will already know by now the ten musical acts that made it to the Gala Night Performances this coming Sunday, October 16. From among the selected talents of mentors Rey Valera, Jay-R, Jaya, Janno Gibbs, Rachelle Ann Go, Imelda Papin, Claire dela Fuente, Gloc 9, Joey Generoso, and Aiza Seguerra, I separated the upper half who I believe will go far in the competition. See if you will agree with my pre-gala choices.
Here is Claire dela Fuente’s Protege’ Jensen Tenoso who is a complete package in my opinion. Aside from being beautiful, she has very powerful vocals that have been trained and polished close to perfection.

Here is Janno Gibbs’ Protege’ Lirah Bermudez who is a 13 year-old lass with very raw musical talent. But don’t let that fool you into thinking that she is a push-over. The girl can deliver the goods alright.

Here is Jaya’s Protege’ Lovely Embuscado, the poor teenager from Davao who used to sing only for her pet pigs. This is untapped talent at its’ finest. She hits the money notes splendidly well and with the proper mentoring, can do even better. As sidenote, she resembles topnotch singer Bituin Escalante in both the looks and talent department.

Here is Rachelle Ann Go’s Protege’ Nomer Limatog, Jr. a pint-sized 10 year-old from Cebu with the big voice of an adult twice his age. Some might think that the boy considers the show as pure child’s play, but wait for him to wow us even more.

Here is Jay-R’s Protege’ Kenneth Monico, the good-looking but melodramatic singer from Cabanatuan. His vocal quality reminds me a lot of his mentor’s style of singing. This guy, however, has more aces up his sleeve as he invades the competition, replete with some personal dramas to make the reality part of the competition more interesting for the televiewers.

The other 5 performers who will join the above are: Joey Generoso’s Samantha Felizco, Aiza Seguerra’s Krizza Neri, Gloc 9’s Dennise Barbacenna, Imelda Papin’s Roselyn Navarro and Rey Valera’s quartet called So Wat?
Actually, all ten are very good singers. And the upper half of my lower 5 are more than capable of stealing one of the higher slots, especially Krizza Neri and Samantha Felizco.
This early, I can tell that the eventual winner will be a female contender, owing to the fact that there are only two individual male acts and one group with two male members.
The Gala Night Performances should be exciting, what with the useful inputs given by judges Bert de Leon, Joey de Leon and Homer Flores.
Watch out for it on October 16 right after Kap’s Amazing Stories. In the meantime, you can check out the ongoing fun and drama inside the Protege’ quarters every night from Monday to Friday (after ‘Time of My Life’) and Saturday (after ‘Imbestigador’). This is where the reality part of the show unfolds. 😉
The Songbird and the Songwriter tie the knot today, December 22.
Heading into wedded bliss, Ogie & Regine are.
Today, December 22, marks a milestone in the lives of Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez – two of the Philippines’ finest and most popular singers – as they seal their undying love for each other in a grand wedding to be held at The Peak, Terrazas de Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, Batangas.
It was the proverbial long and winding road for the two lovers before reaching this point in their lives. Ogie was married to former Miss Australia Michelle van Eimeren with whom he has two lovely daughters – Leila and Sarah, while Regine – while still single – remained relatively unattached (save for a few short-lived romances in the past). It was only within the year when the annulment of Ogie’s & Michelle’s marriage was granted and that paved the way for the romance to bloom in the open.
Hailed as the Philippines’ Wedding of the Year – or of the decade for some – the entourage includes individuals very close to the couple’s hearts. President Noynoy Aquino will be one of the groomsmen together with fellow singers Janno Gibbs & Dingdong Avanzado and close buddy/comedian Michael V., while Megastar Sharon Cuneta will be one of the ninangs alongside GMA-7 bigwig Wilma Galvante, Regal Head Lily Monteverde, Amparito Lhuillier and beauty magnate Vicki Belo. The ninongs include Manny Pangilinan, GMA-7 Head Atty. Felipe Gozon, Orly Ilacad, Michel Lhuillier and singer Jose Mari Chan. Jaya’s daughter, Sabriya, will be one of the flower girls, while the vow sponsors are George and John – Ogie & Regine’s pet dogs. Regine’s Maid of Honor is Ogie’s daughter Leila van Eimeren-Alcasid with the Best Man being Ogie’s brother, Antonio.
Want to watch the whole ceremony but are not invited to the same? Then you can catch the exclusive coverage of GMA-7 this coming December 26 on SNBO (around 9:30pm).
Today, at exactly 11:45AM, GMA-7’s new Sunday musical-variety show makes its premiere. Party Pilipinas, which replaces the long-running SOP, has been heavily anticipated for the past few weeks now. Aside from having all the network’s top and upcoming stars hosting and/or appearing in the show, many other artists and performers have been signed up to spice things up.

Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
