It was a weekend worth remembering alright. For Mr. Philippines John Spainhour, that is.
Last Friday, he woke up on his 27th Birthday fresh and all steamied up for the lined-up activities. The Bowling Challenge was a special surprise as he teamed up with roommate Jordan Williams of England to beat all the odds to reach the finals. They settled for second place, but still, he was more than happy. And why not? Back at the hotel, he was given a small birthday party of sorts, complete with a cake and lively singing from his fellow candidates.
The following day, he joined the others for the beach games hosted by Frankie Cena and attended by Miss World 2013 Megan Young (darn, why can’t the two of them have a pic together?). Together with the members of the Blue Team, they gave it their all in the various tasks which included a tug-o-war, a tyre race and shot putt. While only teammate Devaughn Gow of the Bahamas was lucky enough to pull an individual win, he bonded with everyone and made sure that camaraderie and sportsmanship were the order of the day.
Sunday was fishing day when all of them boarded a big yacht to actually try their hand at catching some live ones. Only the experts among them were able to hook the targets, but the time spent aboard allowed more quality time with one another.
So what more can he ask for? Perhaps, a solid win in the Fashion & Style Challenge to earn that one fast-track event for the semifinals. If not, he can still vie for the Multimedia Challenge spot considering the lively buzz on his Facebook page everytime he posts an update.
Let’s see what’s in store for him in the days to come, and if this special weekend will be outweighed by the next when Mr. World 2014 will be officially selected. 😉
