This is probably the closest to a Filipino food feast the Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Official Candidates can get as they do not really have much time to actually attend provincial town fiestas to sample the special dishes served in each locality. The curious thing is that they cannot really indulge with the food beyond their daily calorie limits. They may just get a bite or two of each viand, then hold off on the rice or paella altogether. What an ordeal – but not a really hard one at that. 😉

As of 7:06AM today and with a total of 127,614 votes collected so far, the ladies above comprise our Top 7. (Photo credit: Jory Rivera for OPMB Worldwide)
As of 7:06AM today, a total of 127,614 votes have already been collected in our Top Picks for Bb. Pilioinas 2014 Poll. And the leaderboard hasn’t really changed that much, only the placements of the lower half in the Top 15.
Still in the top position is Binibini 13 Kris Tiffany Janson who leads Binibini 25 Mary Jean Lastimosa by 2,327 votes. Binibini 6 Anabel Christine Tia remains at the third spot, with Binibini 4 Parul Shah, Binibini 11 Laura Lehmann, Binibini 22 Bianca Guidotti and Binibini 1 Julian Aurine Flores completing the first seven places, respectively.
Below is a pie chart with the Top 15 names listed on the right.
I have watched the thirty-nine (39) Bb. Pilipinas 2014 Web Interviews (I couldn’t find Vanessa Saliba’s) at least twice for each one. And while I would have preferred that the organizers focused on answerable questions instead of acting-out or singing their takes, there were still a couple who managed to render themselves well in the process of doing anything but straight-talk answers.
Here now are my twelve (12) picks, divided into top tier and 2nd tier:
If only Yvethe Santiago was asked to give out a solid reply to her question instead of reacting to a win without any audible sound coming out of her lips, then I would put her at very close striking distance to Bianca Guidotti who – in my opinion gave out one that closely hues to the videos we favorably react to during Miss Universe season. While the former is absolutely stunning and very charming during the 10-second intro, the latter has such smiling eyes coupled with small nuances that make for a more relaxed ‘thinking-on-her-feet‘ vibe – much like the Marianne I personally know even before she finally committed to joining the pageant. Her style must be to come up with an impromptu rejoinder than bother memorizing tried-and-tested lines.
And upon further review, Laura Lehmann, Kim Suiza, Shauna Curran and Kris Janson held on to their top tier ranks. Individually, they have their respective strengths that could turn into gold during crunch time.
I love the way MJ Lastimosa peppered her answers with such fine-tuned hand gestures and segue lines like ‘let me tell you why’. But then again, the love got lost somewhere between meeting a pre-determined time limit to explain and over-extending her praise and adoration for chocolates. She could have edited herself out while filming and the reply would come out more manageably clarified. On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised with Leona dela Cruz who was more straightforward and succinct with hers. And the girl registers well on video, I tell you. Hannah Mariz dela Guerra still remains among my selection, although Carla Jenina Lizardo eked out an edge with the latter unleashing a more commanding delivery of herself.
Angelique also impressed me by turning all spontaneous right at the moment she realized that her question was too serious for her own crazy personality. She never went crazy, but the more personal play of thoughts came out stronger in my opinion. This is what Ja missed out on doing well in her vid. But at least, she still managed to show us a decent slice of her down-to-earth ways.
I would add two (2) more names for citation purposes. These ladies also managed to give a positive reflection of themselves inspite of being given relatively lame questions to act out/sing than think of a more convincing exhange of views. They are Krischelle KC Halili and Anabel Christine Tia.
So that makes fourteen (14) all in all. 😉
P.S. as for Hannah Sison, I want to like this girl and the way she speaks. But when she started doing a slightly disturbing rendition of that Whitney Houston song, all the love I’ve saved for her went down the drain. 😦
I was just lazing around inside the lanai in our place yesterday late afternoon and thought of captioning a few images in my photo library. This is all for fun. I hope none of the ladies get offended. Anyways, my sense of humor is very safe. When in public mode, that is. 🙂

I hope my efforts made you smile even just a little. It’s already a Monday. Start of a new work week. Let’s stay happy instead of feeling the blues. 😉
The eight ladies above represent the tallest among the remaining Top 61 contenders of Official Candidate slots for Bb. Pilipinas 2014.
And Racquel, Kenneth, Bianca, Joy Marie, Nichole, Yvethe, Jeane and Ja are proud to be the most vertically-endowed in the group of 61.
Do you see them entering the Top 40 more easily than the rest? And if they do as expected, will their assigned numbers be 17 to 24? It really doesn’t take much for this to happen, unless their height arrangement is done from shortest to tallest than a pyramid line-up where the six-footer will get #20 or #21.
And yes, because of the stalled announcement of Official Candidates, I am running out of topics to post on a Monday. So the next one should already be the names of the Top 40. I hope and crave. 😉
The six girls above comprise the group of Kagandahang Flores entries who filed their application forms for Bb. Pilipinas 2014 earlier in the afternoon.
Except for Hannah Sison and Emma Tiglao, I still haven’t featured the four others, namely, Caitlin Chao, Ja Flores, Janine Asanion and Trixie Hipolito. Their spotlights should follow in the days to come.
Your early impressions? 😉
