Alaiza Malinao for Elite Model Look Asia Pacific 2016
courtesy of Elite Model Look Asia Pacific
Alaiza Malinao has gone beyond Asia’s Next Top Model and is now gunning for the bigger model search in the region – Elite Model Look Asia-Pacific 2016. And with the backing of some important names in the industry (including the very familiar Ines Ligron), she could be in good hands for this tough competition where the winners will be guaranteed with attractive modeling contracts in Asia-Pacific and even beyond depending on the breaks that will come their way.
Will Alaiza find her true place under the sun here? I certainly hope so because she really wants to do good in this one. Aside from being the Philippine entry, she will have her future locked and sealed in bright hues and hefty contracts if she wins the big one.
Best of luck, Alaiza! 😉
Good luck, Alaiza!
Ines Ligron knows how to fan the flames of excitement by jumping the gun on everyone
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach sans make-up
There are no official statements or press release from WME/IMG yet. But Ines Ligron really knows how to start fueling the fire, you would think that she is the unofficial heralder of the new owners of Miss Universe. And that she has the blessings to be one.
So Ines is putting her name on the line with December 20. Las Vegas. Miss Universe. Day of arrival on December 1. That’s a healthy number of details to begin with.
So should Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach be happy with the Facebook update of Ines? Perhaps. So should we rejoice that it will finally happen this year instead of January next? Probably. Will it really be a December to remember? Could be.
But first, I will still need to see a Press Release. Then, I will rest easy. 🙂
Ines Ligron’s update about Miss Universe, all written in Filipino
Ines Ligron writing in Filipino? I doubt it very much. But she must have commissioned someone who can write in the language to put across her message more clearly to all followers in the Philippines.
And there are very essential points to ponder upon in her revelations.
First, Miss Universe will now be transformed into a beauty contest-cum-model search that will make our favorite annual event a cross between America’s Next Top Model and the competition itself. Less pageant-patty, more runway-ready.
Secondly, the new owners – IMG Models and William Morris Agency – will clearly revamp most everything. And it bears watching how the new high-fashion changes will be incorporated into the evolving set-up.
Lastly, there will be no crown for the winner, perhaps just a sash and bouquet of flowers. What the heck, throw in a trophy for good measure. DIC will be missed, but not by much I reckon.
So how do all of these things sit with you, dear readers?

Rattikorn Kunsom after being crowned Miss Grand Thailand 2015
Rattikorn ‘Promai’ Kunsom was crowned Miss Grand Thailand 2015 last night at Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. She takes over the crown of her predecessor Parapadsorn Disdamrong who represented the Land of Smiles in both Miss Grand International 2014 (where she finished in the Top 10
) and Miss Supranational 2014 (where she was 1st Runner-Up
Tharathip Sukdarunpat was named Miss Supranational Thailand 2015 and technically the 2nd highest Placer now that the Miss Earth franchise is no longer being held by Pageant owner Nawatt Itsaragrisil. Dusky beauty Boonyanee ‘Bow’ Sungpirom took the Miss Intercontinental Thailand 2015 title from reigning Miss Intercontinental 2014 Patraporn Wang. Chonlalee Chonticha Imjanya was elected Miss Tourism Thailand 2015 and No. 15 was the sole Runner-Up, respectively.
Ines Ligron (3rd from right) was one of the judges
With French pageant coach Ines Ligron as one of the judges, signs are telling that she is very likely to take over the training of the new winners. We’ll see! 😉
Here now are the close-ups of the five winners.

Ines Ligron (right) finally met up with Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach
Ines - love her or love her less?
Frenchwoman Ines Ligron always gets mixed reactions from Filipino pageant fans. It’s either you love her or love her less. And it seems that she is in the same company as Miss Universe Philippines 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who is also drawing both good and bad feedbacks from a legion of followers and critics divided right smack in the middle.
One thing is certain, though. Ines and Pia mutually admire each other, with the former actually in a more gushing mood especially during their first meeting and dinner at Solaire last night. Check out her status update about the meet-up:
“Finally we met with beautiful Pia Alonso for an early diner at Solaire. I am sincerely so impressed with Pia, she is so beautiful in person, not only in pictures, i was so right to believe in her!
She has the perfect face: spectacular eyes like 2 beautiful butterflies. She is very eloquent and still manages to be bubbly. She will do great for sure at Miss Universe. Her body is ready, she has the curves to compete against the European and the Latinas.
It was good for me to see the girls bonding together. Hiroko and Valerie were very impressed with Pia when they were chatting and giving her advise. This is the real universal spirit!

Miss Singapore Rathi Menon in a retouching pose for the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant in Doral Miami
Back in the day, Frenchwoman Ines Ligron was able to transform Riyo Mori into a Miss Universe-worthy contender back in 2007. The Japanese won the crown in Mexico City.
This year, she took care of the Singaporean entry – Rathi Menon – and I can see the changes in the girl from the Lion City. She is likely to make her presence felt, although there could be a similar channeling between her and Miss India Noyonita Lodh. Will that work in her favor or the latter?
I will watch out for more of Rathi’s turns in the pageant. 😉
An update on Ines Ligron’s Facebook page
Ines loves Valerie
Ines Ligron sure knows how to pull the right strings and get herself on the loop with Philippine pageants. And she expects to be heard regardless.
The Frenchwoman in one of her latest Facebook updates showed another kind of excitement for Valerie Weigmann. I just hope it’s not the same level of impetus she started for Pia Wurtzbach during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 so that hopes are pegged in the right places.
Let’s see what will happen next in the Valerie Weigmann pageant chapter. 😉
How true? Who feeds such infos to Ines Ligron?
Intrigues follow Miss World 2013 Megan Young long after her crowning last year. Now, it’s Ines Ligron posting about her allegedly (she forgot to use this important word) being the least nice to the people she worked with. There was even an attitude comparison made between her and Ara Arida/Bea Rose Santiago.
I may not be personally acquainted with Megan, but I don’t see her acting up like a diva, especially now that she is in the middle of her reign and fully aware of her public image as an international celebrity. She knows better than to feed other people negative vibes that would surely spread like wildfire to the four corners of the globe.
At any rate, who gives Ines such infos? Could this be the same individual or group of individuals who rallied Julia Morley with Megan’s Rogue Magazine photoshoot to discredit her image in Bali but to no avail? If so, then I don’t think the MWO Head will bite and instead, ignore the issue even more.
Obviously, someone out there still can’t move on from defeat. Tsk tsk tsk… 😉

Ines Ligron's assessment of Bea Rose Santiago
Renowned beauty queen maker Ines Ligron posted on Facebook her assessment of our Miss Philippines Bea Rose Santiago. And she can only write positive words about her.
Given her standards, I like it that our MI2013 rep has met her expectations and is even commending the training and preparations for our beauty queens. 🙂
