Among the many problems facing the society, Miss Universe Philippines 2020 candidate Maria Fee Tajaran of Romblon is part of the generation who has witnessed how drugs destroyed families and ruined millions of lives. Many opportunities wasted. A chance to be successful – or have a relatively good life at least – becomes next to impossible when spoiled by the evil of drugs. She has seen promising individuals with great potential, but missed the chance because of poor choices and unstable principles in life.
But in the eyes of Sasha, our brothers and sisters who have lost their way due to drugs can still be saved. She wants to serve as one of the guiding lights in their path towards redemption. And this is why she is advocating for an anti-drug campaign called Hatag Ug Kahayag which means “To Give Light”. She wants to enlighten people – especially the youth – about the ill effects of drugs. She plans to become a wake-up-call of sorts and inspire them as a “Light of Hope” towards transformation.
These past two months, Sasha’s quarantine life has been quite challenging. There are days when she feels scared about the realities and changes in life. But her Mom is always around to back her up in more ways than one. To stay positive all throughout
“Watching the news made me realize that we should all stand together. So I asked myself what can I do to help. Without second thoughts, I decided to sell my preloved clothes and other stuff so I can help the less fortunate families. And by simply doing this, I inspired my friends to help too. There are some generous people who donated money which allowed us to help many people in need . We are also able to give snacks to our frontliners. As they say, it’s not how much we give, but how much love we put in giving. It is really a heart-warming experience to see smiles on people faces amidst the pandemic we are facing. We really are Filipinos. Matapang at di susuko sa laban! And that’s what keeps me going.”
