Miss Thailand Paweensuda “Fahsai” Drouin drew one of the first blood of sorts as she was crowned Miss Earth-Hannah’s during the weekend where ten of the Miss Earth 2017 delegates were flown to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte as special guests of Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center. Initially, the representatives of Austria, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Israel, Korea, Sweden, Thailand, Uganda and Venezuela attended the Blessing and Inauguration of the new 2-storey Building in the Crown Jewel of the North. Thereafter, a special mini-pageant was held to choose the one delegate who will serve as one of the foreign spokespersons of the renowned beach destination. They competed in swimsuits, evening gowns and Q&A before the beautiful Thai delegate defeated everyone else to be declared the best among them. Ninoska Vasquez of Venezuela and Lessie Giller Sanchez of Ecuador completed the Top 3.It was a very enjoyable weekend for the ladies who were given the VIP treatment all throughout. They were able to try out almost all the amenities that the place has to offer. And for sure, it is one trip they will not easily forget.
The Miss Earth 2017 candidates are everywhere in the metro and nearby provinces these days. Environmental School Tours in Bulacan, Cainta, Barrio Obrero and Legarda. Visit to the eco project of Imus, Cavite. TV and radio guestings. Sponsor visits. Hosted dinners. And more.
Truth be told, the schedule of activities can be mind-boggling, coverage-wise. With three groups to cover, the events have also been multiplied by three. And the minute weekend comes, their trips to farther local destinations will start. Come Friday, ten of them will head up north to Hannah’s Beach Resort in Pagudpud, while a bigger roster will be Batangas-bound to Pontefino Hotel. And there’s more to come. In the meantime, not everyone can go far off the grid as there are continuous activities happening here in Manila as well.normannorman.com will try to cover as many as the small team can!
While activities for Miss Earth 2017 will start on October 5 with a Sponsors Visit to be led by reigning titleholder Katherine Espin, this year’s candidates will start arriving the day after. Divided into three (3) groups, they will be billeted in an equal number of hotels with Group 1 checking-in at Joy~Nostalg Center, Group 2 heading to Diamond Hotel and Group 3 getting their temporary home base at Century Park Hotel. All in all, between 90-92 delegates are expected to take part with 14 from Central/Western Europe, 14 from Eastern Europe, 14 fin North/Central America, 9 from South America, 14 from Africa, 25 from Asia and the Pacific. Two (2) more ladies from Europe are still likely to join them pending final confirmation.
The schedule is back-breaking, but that is to be expected from Miss Earth which prides itself in bringing the candidates to different parts of the country. Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center in Pagudpud, Pontefino and Dive & Trek in Batangas, Stargate Dream Resort in Cagayan de Oro City and Carles, Iloilo are just some of the places that they will be visiting.
This will be a month-long train of coverages that normannorman.com will endeavor to get into as much as the team can, all the way to the finals on November 4 at the MOA Arena.
So stay stuck here for more about Miss Earth 2017!
And what a wonderful hosting it was. The days were not enough to cover everything about the scenic resort, but the activities were maxed to fully appreciate all the amenities that Hannah’s has to offer. Outside the Preliminary Competition itself at the Convention Center, pictorials and OBB shoots came one after the other – from the large venue to its surrounding attractions like Timantang Rock, Hannah’s Zip line, Patapat Viaduct, Maira-ira Firing Range and the inviting waters of the beach where the fitness camp was conducted.
At the end of the Preliminaries, the winners of the special main event – Gentlemen of Hannah’s – were announced with Paul Guarnes of Iloilo finishing on top followed by Kevin Hernandez of North Italy and Ian Anthony Tan of Lucena City.
Here are more photos from the stay at Hannah’s.

Watch out for normannorman.com’s coverage of the Press Presentation!
Truly. More than good looks.
Things are definitely looking up for the 2nd edition of Gentlemen of the Philippines. The 2017 competition has Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center – the Crown Jewel of the North and the country’s premier pageant destination – as its main presentor and where the Preliminary Competition will be hosted from September 1-3. This is a big break for the national contest as the said venue has always been associated with Miss Philippines Earth and Mutya ng Pilipinas. This is the very first time that an all-male event has been green-lighted for full sponsorship. And pageant site Sash Factor (with its Head Brix Vera) contributed big time in making this happen.
Aside from that, Co-Presentor Belmeré Skin Care Center is taking charge of the Press Presentation scheduled on the afternoon of August 31. This is where this year’s candidates will be formally introduced to members of the media.
And come September 9, all roads will lead to the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Rembrandt in QC for the much-awaited finals night where five (5) new titleholders will ne proclaimed – all scheduled to represent the country in international pageants such as Mister Universal Ambassador, Mister Model International, Best Global Model of the Year, Mister Tourism World and Mister National Universe.
Soon you will know the young men with more than good looks and promoted alongside their interesting hashtags such as #TheScienceTeacher, #TheRestaurateur, #TheSwimmer, #TheCrooner, #TheToweringGentleman, #TrueSurvivor, #PrinceCharming, #The ModernMaguindanaoan, #TheDreamer, #TheOptimist, #KingOfTheSeas and more!
New leaders have emerged as Savannah Gankiewicz of Hawaii (fondly called “Moana” by the other candidates) zoomed her way to the top of the scoresheets and was named Best in Swimsuit. On the other hand, repeater Jannie Alipo-on of Navotas City is starting to show that 3rd time could be a charm after bagging both Best in Resort Wear and Mutya ng Pilipinas Hannah’s. Both ladies did very well during the preliminary judging interviews the night before and appear to be headed for front-runner status in the thick of the fight for the three crowns at stake.
Other ladies who did well were Lian Enumerable of Negros Island Region who was chosen as Mutya Photogenic, with Arianne Viardo of Pampanga and Suzanne Perez of California getting 2nd Runner-Up positions in the Swimsuit and Hannah’s categories, respectively.
Onwards now to the Regional Costume Competition which will be held at The Plaza of Resorts World Manila tomorrow night at 6pm.
