So you will be fully aware of The 50th Mutya Ng Pilipinas qualifications:

• Natural Born Female; High School Graduate. At least 18 but not more than 24 years old; with a minimum height of 5’5”;
• Must be least a high school graduate
• Must possess beauty of face and figure, has an outstanding personality, smart and witty;
• Must be single and never been married;
• Must have never been pregnant;
• Must be of Filipino ancestry, with at least one (1) grandparent in the direct paternal or maternal line possessing Filipino citizenship

Important Pageant Requirements:

• One Colored Passport size photo, one colored head shot and one Colored Full Body shot in swimsuit
• Photocopy of Birth Certificate
• Photocopy of High School Diploma, if available
• Overseas participants must submit proof of Filipino ancestry in the form of a certified true copy of the Birth Certificate of either the Filipino grandparents or parents.

On this, the 50th Anniversary Year of Mutya ng Pilipinas, the 2018 edition of the well-loved competition – with its ever-hardworking President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo at the helm – promises to be the biggest one yet – with more beauties to conquer the national pageant stage, more excitement in all the pre-pageant activities and a grandiose production that will surpass all previous stagings combined. As the video above says, it will take more than beauty and brains to win the crown/s this year because the organizers will be looking for a new breed of Queens to bring pride and honor to the country.

This year, Mutya ng Pilipinas celebrates a major milestone with its continued presence in the country’s pageant history as it turns 50. Golden. And the 2018 edition promises to be record-breaking, as in more exciting – with fifty (50) Official Candidates – and far-reaching – with more Regional and Overseas Competitions to complement its biggest assembly of beautiful Filipinas ever. The gathering of all past titleholders and even joiners who did very well in other competitions will be something to look forward to.

Your blogger spoke to Mutya ng Pilipinas President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo (right photo with Joy & I) who is doubly enthusiastic about what’s in store for pageant fans and followers for 2018. She also shared thoughts about her inspirations in making the beauty pageant bigger than ever before.

“Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta of BPCI and Ms. Lorraine Schuck of Carousel Productions are my idols and I consider them pillars of the pageant industry. We should really be thanking them for keeping this industry alive as well as producing excellent winners. They deserve to be honored and looked up to after having earned many achievements inside and outside the country, while bringing Philippine pageantry to the highest level.”

Just when everyone else is too preoccupied with the visit of the Miss Universe titleholders and national beauties in our country, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 Hannah Khayle Iglesia competed in the AMA Asian International Super Model Contest and was able to get the nod of thr hard-to-please judges by placing 1st Runner-Up in the Graphic Model Category.

This could open up new doors of opportunities for the sweet and statuesque (5’10”) lass from up North as her oriental looks were warmly received in Mainland China.

After Angela Carla Sandigan, here is another Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 titleholder all set to conquer the international stage for her pageant mission.

Hannah Khayle Iglesia will soon depart for Chongqing, China to represent the country in the Asian International Supermodel 2017. She was originally intended for next year’s Top Model of the World to be held in St. George’s in the Caribbean island of Grenada. But with the rumored uncertainties of that event pushing through as scheduled, the national organizers have decided to field her in this upcoming contest which is just as appropriate for the preparations that Hannah underwent the past number of months.

Since we’re in a succession of blog posts about the final preparations of our national titlehoders, the Mutya ng Pilipinas 2017 winners are not to be left behind. Starting the latter half of next month, Mutya Asia-Pacific International 2017 Ilene de Vera will assume her host delegate’s responsibilities as she welcomes more than 50 beauties for Miss Asia-Pacific International set to happen right here in Manila (with Palawan doing pre-pageant co-hosting) while keeping her eyes fixed on the big prize.

Then by December, Mutya Tourism International 2017 Jannie Alipo-on will ready herself up for thr mission in Kuala Lumpur with Miss Tourism International 2017-18 happening on New Year’s Eve.

Top Model of the World Philippines 2017 Hannah Khayle Iglesia still has a lot of time in her hands since her assignment in the Caribbean won’t happen till the 2nd Quarter of 2018. Mutya ng Pilipinas- Top Model of the World 2017 Hannah Khayle Iglesia


When Hannah Khayle Iglesia of Isabela was announced as the winner of Mutya ng Pilipinas – Top Model of the World 2017, she was still at a loss on whether she heard her name being called or not.

“Tito Norman, I was a little bit hesitant at first cause I thought I heard it wrong and I never really expected that I will be named as one of the winners”

But among the girls who entered the Top 12, there were only three (3) of them qualified to get the particular title because of their height – Abi Grigsby of Melbourne who stands 5’11.5″, Ilene de Vera of Cebu who measures 5’9″ and the our subject who is a proud 5’10.5″. What helped her bid even more was the fact that she was able to acquit herself well during the Q&A. From that moment on, the new crown was in the bag so to speak.

Since Hannah will have a long time to prepare for her competition abroad (till mid-2018 in fact), how does she intend to prepare for the challenge?


“One thing for sure is I will continue to monitor my diet and I’ll start going to the gym to be 100% ready by then. Since I’m a model as well, I’ll try to improve on my skills so I can do better when the time comes for me to compete.”

And how does the prospect of traveling to St. George’s in the Caribbean Island of Grenada appeal to Hannah?

“Super, Tito Norman! Going to that part of the world is part of my bucket list.”

And a short message to your supporters and followers here in Manila and Isabela?

“Naimbag nga rabii yu amin nga kailyak nga taga isabela. Maraming salamat po sa inyong walang sawang pagsuporta at patuloy na pagtitiwala sa akin.”

Ilene de Vera of Cebu claimed the night’s highest title after being crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International 2017. She will be our representative in the next edition of Miss Asia-Pacific International scheduled to be hosted in the country come October.

Jannie Loudette Alipo-on of Navotas City finally got her dream of a crown by nailing the Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2017 honor that will set her up for Miss Tourism International 2017/18 in Kuala Lumpur in late December.

Isabela native Hannah Khayle Iglesia pleasantly surprised everyone by getting Mutya ng Pilipinas Top Model of the World. She will be headed to St. George’s in the Caribbean island of Grenada next year.

Savannah Mari Gankiewicz of Hawaii was given the special Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas Communities title, while Angela Carla Sandigan of Pateros and Sofia Sibug of Albay were named 1st and 2nd Runners-Up, respectively.
