For those whose trip to the country took close to or more than 24 hours in flight times and lay-overs, jet lag was least in their list of concerns because the warm hospitality of the Filipinos took over as soon as they officially started competing for the crown.
For those who checked-in late, the missed early opportunities were hardly felt because they were welcomed like temporarily lost family members after they settled in right away.
For those who stamped their class from Day 1, they collected medals left and right but never bragged about their achievements like crazy as humility prevailed even.
For those who terribly missed their family members, friends, boyfriends and beds back home, the company of some of the friendliest foreign candidates and the ever-so-solicitous gestures of the chaperones and activity-organizers helped them overcome homesickness in a painless manner.
For those who went to the country with only one objective in mind – and that is to win Miss Earth – the true, honest and relevant causes of Miss Earth Foundation began to unravel right before their eyes and as a result, widened their perspective on what wearing the crown is all about.
For those whose hearts melted after seeing the living conditions of poor families, the elderlies and young children (even the sick ones), the charitable activities brought out the best in each one of them. One lady, Rachael Angeth of South Sudan, even donated PhP5,000.00 of her personal funds to help stir the improvements for Golden Acres.
For those who never made it to Manila (and were officially pulled out of the competition) and took to reading the daily updates on Facebook (plus this blog hopefully) and the pageant’s official website instead, the next edition (temporarily scheduled in Bangkok in late 2013) will be there to wait for your participation, if allowed by your country organizers.

These are the lasting memories of Miss Earth 2012. I salute Carousel Productions for making this year a successful and unforgettable edition for the competition. Part of the final results may not sit well with most, but we have to move on and wish Teresa Fajksova of the Czech Republic the best during her reign.
