His full name is Luisito Daumier Corilla, but you can call him Dom for short. His unique second name was picked by his parents from French painter Honoré Daumier.
This 21 year-old towering hunk (he stands 6’4”) was born and raised in Las Piñas City, but has been staying with his family in Los Angeles for the past six years. It was only last August, 2019 when he decided to return to the country and pursue opportunities of growth. He joined and won his first national modeling competition – GLobal Asian Model Philippines – where he grabbed the Manhunt Philippines 2019 title.
Dom with Rosko Dickinson of Manhunt International
Days before he actually starts competing for Manhunt International, Dom sat with some members of the media for a round table discussion about his upcoming mission. Being the early bird that your blogger is, I was afforded an exclusive one-on-one with him.
Watch below.
Manhunt International will begin its week-long competition starting this weekend up until the big finals night at New Frontier Theater on February 22.
Let us all wish Dom the best in Manhunt International.
I seldom chat with a lady for the first time where the subject matter revolved around how I started blogging and what books and movies inspired me to create a signature writing style. That is exactly what happened during my first online encounter with Asha Gutierrez. And boy, did I enjoy it. I have already seen and observed her in person – enough to encourage me to make an entry about this thinking beauty whose name in Sanskrit means “wish, desire, hope”.
Asha is not your typical pageant joiner. She has the mix of an introverted/artistic personality with an occasional outward leaning. She is a writer and entrepreneur who loves to dance Salsa and Latin. Before graduating from the De La Salle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature, she was an active athlete who trained with the national team in not just one, but two sports – basketball and boxing. Priority was given to her studies, though. The closest she returned to either of the two disciplines was when she took on Assistant Coach duties to young students.
Back to her name which – in Sanskrit – means “wish, desire, hope”, Asha got her baptism of fire in pageantry when she joined Miss World Philippines 2019. It was like coming out her shell, so to speak. She followed this up with Global Asian Model Philippines shortly after just so she can make a good comparison of the two different competitions. The experience made her realize that beauty contests are better suited to her liking because she can express herself more as a potential Beauty Queen than going deeper into the world of runway shows, editorial shoots and the like.
The wish stems from this point – to join another national pageant in 2020 given the desire to win a crown. Hopefully, she is fated to have one of her own. Sooner or later. And with this, I end with a quote from one of my favorite authors Daphne du Maurier:
”A dreamer, I walked enchanted, and nothing held me back.”
During the first intermission segment of GLobal Asian Model Philippines 2019 at the Cove Manila last night, the members of the Miss Universe Philippines Organization were formally introduced to guests and members of the media.
The group is headed by the beautiful National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Creative Director Jonas Antonio Gaffud, Design Council Head Albert Andrada, Business Development and Marketing Head Mario Garcia, Women Empowerment and Charity Committee Head (former Bb. Pilipinas Universe) Lia Andrea Ramos and Legal Affairs Head Atty. Nad Bronce.
In the same event, the organization (along with Smart Communications, Inc.) presented check donations amounting to US$ 16,500.00 each that were given to Smile Train and Hope for Change.
A big Press Conference is scheduled next month where they will share more important details about the plans of the organization for Miss Universe Philippines 2020.
The son and daughter of two former Bb. Pilipinas titleholders grabbed two of the six titles at stake in the finals of GLobal Asian Model Philippines 2019.
Joshua de Sequera, son of former Miss Maja Pilipinas (but who went on to Miss World) Marina Benipayo was adjudged Male Winner of GLobal Asian Model Philippines 2019. Ashley Subijano Montenegro, daughter of Miss World 1994 Top 10 Finisher Caroline Subijano, was named as the very first Miss Charm Philippines and will represent the country in the inaugural edition of Miss Charm International in Vietnam next month.
Cebu-based model Daina Nelson partnered with De Sequera as Female Winner of GLobal Asian Model Philippines 2019.
Los Angeles Fil-Am import Daumier Corilla grabbed the Manhunt Philippines honor and will be host delegate in Manhunt International that will be held in Manila come February, 2020.
Meanwhile, Davao bet Mico Teng was proclaimed Mister Global Philippines and will be Thailand-bound for Mister Global 2020. Finally, Karen Laurrie Mendoza was chosen as representative of the country in next year’s Supermodel International which will also take place in the Land of Smiles.
In the same event, the key individuals behind Miss Universe Philippines Organization were formally presented as a prelude to next month’s Press Conference. But more about this on a separate blog.
For tonight’s Finals of GLobal Asian Model Philippines at the Cove Manila, normannorman.com has selected its favorites to do well in the competition – 6 ladies plus 6 gentlemen – and who could end up with the titles at stake and represent us in international competitions here and abroad.
Men: Daumier, Jason, Benedykt, Hamed, Joshua and Carlo
Women: Elaiza, Karen, Patrisha, Asha, Beatrice and Daina
Fingers crossed that, among them, our bets for GLobal Asian Model International 2020, Manhunt International 2020 (in the Philippines), Miss Charm International 2020 (in Vietnam), Mister Global 2020 (in Thailand) and Supermodel International 2020 (in Thailand) will emerge.
Tomorrow night, the finals of GLobal Asian Model Philippines 2019 will have its finals night at the Cove Manila inside Okada Manila.
21 ladies and 18 gentlemen will vie for titles that will give them the right to represent the country in big competitions here and abroad such as Manhunt International, Miss Charm International, Mister Global and the second edition of #GLobalAsianModel International.
Hi! Norman here. When I'm not working, I spend most of my free time planning on daily blogs. If you will notice, I always make sure that a fresh topic comes out everyday - not an easy thing to do but it's all good. Thanks for dropping by and enjoy the visit!
