The Official Send-off of Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ariella ‘Ara’ Arida is now taking place at Gateway with family, friends, press, pageant supporters, beauty queens and Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta present to lend moral support to our rep who will depart for Moscow come Monday, October 21.
All I can say is…Best of luck, Ara!
And trite as it may sound, bring home the bacon. Preferably wet cured with Tender Quick and Russian vodka. 😉

2012 Miss Universe Philippines Janine Tugonon is on Cloud 9 after learning that Las Vegas has officially been declared as host of Miss Universe 2012 once more. And why not? She knows for a fact that the support of thousands of US-based Filipinos is priceless. Looking back at the Venus Raj experience last 2010, she is well aware that her efforts will be tremendously boosted by the presence of her kababayans aside from those who will travel all the way to the mainland just to see her compete in both the preliminaries and finals.
And because of this, she has upped her motivation even more in training real hard for the competition. Her sessions in the gym and at the Gateway Suites are definitely not for the weak-willed. The pressure is on big time.
So if our bet is happy with the recent turn of Miss Universe events, you should be happier that the chances of achieving a three-peat after Venus and Shamcey has gotten stronger. Who knows? She might even end up exceeding their placements. 😉

After long hours of deliberation, not to mention the callbacks and oft-rescheduled final screening, the 30 Official Candidates for Bb. Pilipinas 2012 have been announced at the Gateway Suites a couple of hours back. From this list of beautiful Filipinas, three will be crowned winners and represent the country in this year’s Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Tourism Queen International.
Who will shine bright and claim victory on April 15? Let’s wait and see as the ladies will be instantly immersed into a world of glitz, glamour and fame, with a dash of intrigue and controversy in the mix.

Suffice it to say that the next two months will be crucial for all the contenders. I won’t be surprised if a disqualification or two – not to mention a couple of backing-outs – can still take place before the coronation night draws very near. It has happened many times before and this year should be no exception.
Regardless, let’s all wish the ladies the best of luck!
How about you, dear readers? Happy with the selection? 😉
If February 7 was strictly designated as the deadline for submission of Bb. Pilipinas 2012 applications, then Jill Urbina would have been one of the few girls who screened at the very last minute. But then again, since extensions are trending in the pageant, it was just close to a photofinish.
Jill flew in from Zurich, Switzerland earlier this week and made it to Gateway Suites – with plenty of time to spare – for her initial screening.
I assume that the 20 year-old – who stands 5’8″ – has already made it past the residency requirement even before she started staying in Europe. Otherwise, there’s no use giving her false hopes if BPCI will put its foot down in implementing their rules and regulations.
Good luck, Jill. She’d make a welcome addition to the cast of this year’s edition.
On whose feet will these pairs of Golden Shoes fit?
As the 2nd Callback Screening for Bb. Pilipinas continues at the Gateway Suites as I blog, excitement increases each minute. The girls are currently undergoing some meticulous interviews and assessment.
This will all lead us to the Final Screening on Saturday which will determine the lucky ones destined to be proclaimed Official Candidates for 2012, and who will wear the identical Golden Heels (pictured above) which signify the ascent to their fate.
Will this year’s batch be more outstanding than the last?
February 7 marks the final open screening deadline for Bb. Pilipinas 2012. This is your last chance to take a stab at the opportunity of following the footsteps of Shamcey Supsup and Venus Raj who both made the country proud by placing in Miss Universe 2011 and 2010, respectively.
The Official Candidates will be announced two days later, on February 9, with the search culminating in the Grand Coronation Night scheduled on April 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

So if you think you have what it takes to be the country’s next representative to the Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Tourism Queen International, make the beeline to the screening venue at Gateway Suites in Araneta Center until late afternoon this coming Tuesday.
Who knows, your late entry might just be what BPCI is waiting for! 😉

These photos are just a sampling of the ladies who received their callbacks for the screening last weekend at the Gateway Suites. So far, so good. But I wouldn’t single out my favorites yet.
