The Philippines comes out on top in Miss Asia Pacific International! And she won two big crowns in less than a month’s time!
Congratulations to Mutya ng Pilipinas 2018 Sharifa Areef Mohammed Omar Akeel for winning the bigger title tonight and succeeding last year’s Francielly Ouriques.
1st Runner-up: Brazil – Gabriela Palma
2nd Runner-up: Costa Rica – Melania Gonzales
3rd Runner-up: Mongolia – Misheelt Narmandakh
4th Runner-up: Venezuela – Mariani Nataly Chacon Angarita
It was really neck-to-neck between Sharifa and Gabriela of Brazil, just as I forecasted. Our home girl was preferred by the judges in the end.
At the Forbes Ballroom of Conrad Hotel Manila earlier, the Press Presentation of Miss Asia Pacific International 2018 was held in front of invited members of the media. As Pageant President Jacqueline Tan-Sainz stated, this is the 50th edition of the Asia/Asia-Pacific brand that makes this year’s edition extra meaningful. And what could be more apt than to assemble an exact number of fifty (50) Official Candidates coming from different parts of the world.
As is traditional, the Darling of the Press was voted upon and crowd favorite (and host delegate) Sharifa Akeel of the Philippines was named recipient of the award. She was followed by 1st Runner-Up Madeline Ferrara of Germany and 2nd Runner-Up Gabriela Palma of Brazil.
There are many beautiful delegates in this batch. Aside from the Philippines, Germany and Brazil, worth mentioning are the entries of Venezuela, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Peru and Mongolia.
The National Costume Competition will be held this coming Thursday night, also at the Conrad Manila. Swimsuit and Evening Gown Preliminaries will be conducted in Vigan and Tagaytay, with the Talent Competition at the Loft in Rockwell. Finals will be on October 4 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in Resorts World Manila.
Below are the photos of the early favorites among the fifty.
Reigning Miss Asia Pacific International Francielly Ouriques of Brazil
Miss Asia Pacific International 2018 will take place in Manila, Philippines from September 14 to October 4. Watch the teaser clip above featuring reigning titleholder Francielly Ouriques of Brazil who has been staying in the country for the past weeks now leading to the Finals when she will crown her successor.
And she’s back!
As part of her duties and responsibilities as the reigning titleholder, Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 Francielly Ouriques of Brazil has returned to the Philippines to do promotional shoots, pictorials, provincial tours and other activities for the upcoming 2018 edition of the pageant that will be hosted in the country come mid-September | Photo credits: JR Noses, Joy Arguil and Noli Berioso
Just as I predicted, Francielly Ouriques of Brazil outperformed 41 other delegates to win Miss Asia-Pacific International 2017 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila. She was crowned by last year’s Tessa Le Conge of the Netherlands.
Her court includes 1st Runner-Up Acacia Walker of New Zealand (who gave the Brazilian a big run for the win going into the final deliberation), 2nd Runner-Up Valeria Cardona of Honduras, 3rd Runner-Up Morgan Doelwijt of the Netherlands and 4th Runner-Up Ilene de Vera of the Philippines.
It was really tight between Francielly and Acacia since the former had limited facility in English as compared to the latter’s fluid articulation of thoughts. But since this pageant focuses less on endless speaking engagements and more on beauty tourism/cultural diversity, the kind-hearted South American lass nosed out the Kiwi in the endgame.
Congratulations to all winners!
