Yesterday afternoon at the Expo Hall of Fisher Mall in Quezon City, Miss Republic of the Philippines 2017 had its media launch to signal the opening of yet another beauty pageant that was revived last 2015 by Lynette Padolina. With a new Chair in the person of Dr. Romulo Aromin Jr., the 2017 edition of the scholarship-based competition will aim for a fresher and more dynamic search for Filipinas who have beauty, intelligence and the speaking skills to match the demands of promoting local tourism nationwide and in the Filipino Communities abroad.

Present during the launch are reigning titleholders Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 Fermira Dianne Ramos and Miss Republic of the Philippines International 2015 Beatrice Valente, along with Miss Luzon Joselle Mariano, Miss Visayas Sheila Marie Reyes and Miss Mindanao Istie Cequeña.

“We have decided to launch our pageant search for 2017 for us to have ample time in searching for potential delegates all throughout the country and several Filipino Communities abroad. We want to equal if not surpass the quality of pageant delegates that we have last year when we revived the Miss Republic of the Philippines, one of the pioneer and prestigious beauty and personality search in the country.” says Dr. Aromin during the media interview.

Truly, if the Philippines is blessed with all-around competitive height, then we should have an overflowing abundance of statuesque beauties nationwide. Take for example the Official Candidates of Miss Global Philippines 2016. A big chunk of the 23 Official Candidates during the Press Presentation at the Expo Hall of Fisher Mall possesses such beautiful faces that you might actually consider them as potentials for either the Bb. Pilipinas or Miss World Philippines/Miss Philippines Earth competitions.

But moving on to the event yesterday noon, I can spot more than half who can very well fight for the Miss Global Philippines 2016 whose reigning titleholder is Candice Ramos who placed 4th Runner-Up during the bigger Miss Global finals held here in Manila last year.imageimage
The shining standouts include the three ladies voted as Darlings of the Press with #21 Janelle Olafson topping the votes, followed by #4 Danica Ebrada (very beautiful) and #20 Clarize Angelica Barrameda.

The other beauties who impressed this blogger are #9 Kimberly Denise Isla, #2 Nahida Shohaibar, #7 Eliza Johanna Cruz, #23 Perlyn Ocampo and even short-haired #19 Camille Hiro.image

IMG_3977 FB_IMG_1448979891157 At the Activity Area of Fisher Mall late yesterday afternoon, the Press Presentation of the Official Candidates of Mr. & Miss Best Model Asia-Pacific Philippines 2015 were introduced to members of the media and the general public. Fifteen men and fourteen women make up the roster of aspirants where the top two (2) winners will be the country’s representatives to the first-ever Best Model Asia-Pacific to be hosted here in the Philippines next year.

“We are optimistic that out of this group of promising models, we will find individuals who can be at par with the best that we have in the local modeling industry and eventually can break in the international scenes“, says Otek Lopez, President and CEO of Altcom Corporation, the organizer of the model search. “There are lots of potential models for our first batch of search. What they need are proper styling and training, right attitude and patience like what the other successful models went through before they hit big-time., Designer Arielle Agasang added.

Elite Model Look Philippines 1995 Rolen Caralde has been taken in as posing and ramp consultant for the ladies, with Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet in charge of the guys.

The male contenders are Brian Jhay Rimon, Bryalle Benoza, Harvie Jason Valencia, Augusto Carreon Jr, Wesley James Martin, Jimmy Dionisio, Mark Lester Lhatina, Joeser Sinfuego, Jhomar Dy, Ray Martinez, Paul Alvin Buiza, Christian Morris Mayo, Rolly Oporto, Jonar Silva and Jefferson Quinto. The female participants are Joanna Rose Toledo, Mariel Pactorajan, Wendy Joy Velez, Winchell Claire Padlan, Jorielle Asprec, Eloisa Rose Manalo, Jemima Grace Bagasan, Vivian Belleza Wladkoski, Maria Gail Debora Tobes, Christine Joy Cruz, Haira Mae Cruz, Abby Dizon and Mhia Guerrero.

Fisher Mall and Fisher Department Store have now become identified with male and female pageants. For more than the past year now, the strategically-located shopping destination in the heart of Quezon City has hosted different events of beauty competitions. And Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 has joined the long list. Just last Thursday, the candidates toured the place and it really got the candidates happy. Who doesn’t enjoy some window shopping as pre-pageant activity anyways?

The Atrium of Fisher Mall also served as the venue for the Talent Competition where ten (10) contenders performed in front of the public.

The Misters will show their unique talents at Fisher Mall this afternoon

image Starting at 3pm today at the Atrium of Fisher Mall in Quezon City, the thirty (30) Official Candidates of Misters 2015 The Pageant will participate in the Talent Competition of the male pageant. This is a fast-track event so the eventual winner will definitely be assured of a semifinals spot come September 13. And each one of them prepared hard for their individual 3-minute spotlights onstage. There will definitely be singers and dancers, but a good handful will display skills that will really wow the audience.

Support and cheer your favorite Misters by watching them later.

The twenty (20) homegrown candidates of Miss Republic of the Philippines have now been selected

The twenty (20) Official “Homegrown” Candidates of Miss Republic of the Philippines have finally been selected during the Final Screening held at the Fisher Mall in Quezon City. These ladies will now be joined by the twenty (20) other contenders coming from Filipino Communities abroad. Pageant owner Lynette Padolina led the screening panel, along with personalities in the business, fashion and entertainment fields.

Coronation night of the pageant will be on November 8. But between now and that date, the selected final qualifiers will be immersed in more training and personality development in order to groom them for the more demanding aspects of the competition.

Alexia Sonia Edmund: A Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 standout

During last Tuesday’s screening of Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 at the Fisher Mall, one applicant always received resounding applause from the crowd everytime she would be called onstage for her spotlight turns. And when she nailed the Q&A round with the judges (myself included), the audience got even more excited about this girl who has both the beauty and brains to do well in the scholarship pageant. I won’t even go into pointing out the color of her skin which brings out her soulful eyes even more.

Her name is Alexia Sonia Edmund, currently residing and studying in Baguio City but hailing from Roxas, Isabela. Her racial mix comes from a Filipina mother and a black British father. She is 18 years old and studying towards a degree in Medical Laboratory Science at St. Louis University. She is an avid fan of America’s Next Top Model, and adds that she is also a religious person who never misses Sunday mass.

As Queen Isabela Tourism 2015

Regionally, she is the reigning Queen Isabela Tourism – a title that holds dear to her heart as it allows the promotion of the province everywhere she goes. And if she eventually makes the list of Official Candidates for Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 (gut feel tells me she will), then it wouldn’t be so hard adjusting to the nationals.

Alexia’s youth, grace and open-minded views will definitely be plus factors for the pageant. 🙂

Screenings are over and done with. Time for the Final Casting!

The time has come for the Final Casting of Misters of Pilipinas 2015. By the end of the day tomorrow, we shall have already known the majority of Official Candidates for this year’s edition. I say majority because there are already the seeded contenders from the various regional searches and the finals conducted by some Filipino Communities overseas.

Who will make it to the ultimate cut? Could they be some or all of the screening passers in the photo grid below? Will there be surprises in store? If you want to know, then join the crowds that will witness the event at Fisher Mall in Quezon City. The program will start at 4pm. 😉

wpid-wp-1437029538922.jpeg A rich harvest for Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 in its screening today at Fisher Mall when sixteen (16) out of twenty-two (22) applicants made it to the final selection of ladies from where the Official Candidates of the pageant will be determined.

The quality of applicants was a definite level-up, such that the original plan of just getting ten (10) qualifiers was scrapped to accomodate six more on the list.

Some of the applicants came from as far as Batanes and Nueva Ecija in the north, Cavite in the south and all over Metro Manila. And I must say that the ones who made it deserve their spots as they were also able to prove themselves worthy during the Q&A round. Let’s see who among them will make the one final cut when the Top 20 homegrown contenders will be assembled soon. 🙂

P.S. The finals night of Miss Republic of the Philippines 2015 has been moved to November 6 upon the request of foreign candidates who couldn’t take a break from school. This will also keep the pageant from clashing with the almost simultaneous conduct of Misters of Pilipinas 2015 and Miss World Philippines 2015. 😉

The July 11 screening at Fisher Mall

Come July 21, or Tuesday next week, the final national screening of Miss Republic of the Philippines will be held at Fisher Mall to determine the complete line-up of Official Candidates who will vie for the crown. Expect a more jam-packed event as the ladies still in contention will try to outshine each other to get a place in the Top 20 slots which will usher in the qualifiers into a totally different world that will seek to bring out their beauty and intelligence.

And just to let you in on the schedule of activities awaiting them, below is a list of future events that will keep them busy all throughout the pre-pageant period leading to the finals night on September 9 (venue to be announced soon).
