Will Ferina de Paz gain easier access to Bb. Pilipinas 2016?

 
Hers is a familiar face that would have prompted any local pageant follower to immediately state the national beauty pageant she has already joined. But then again, there will be some air of hesitation in doing so because the beautiful Ferina Juny Ann de Paz cannot be fully identified with one for various reasons. She joined Miss Philippines Earth twice. Back in 2010, she backed out allegedly due to health reasons. She rejoined last 2013, but had to pull out once more halfway through. There was no mention of why she did it the second time.

Instead, we think of Ferina as one of two Philippine representatives to Miss Asean 2014 held in Chiang Rai, Thailand where she placed 1st Runner-Up to the eventual winner from Thailand.

This time, my sources are saying that she could be training for Bb. Pilipinas 2016. And if beauty camp Kagandahang Flores makes her transformation so dramatic and hard-to-overlook for the screenings, then I bet Ferina will give the nationals her biggest fight ever. On the other hand, another mole is whispering a different tune to my ear. But I need some hard confirmations first.

Fingers crossed for either of the two because both routes can be equally fulfilling!

Beauty queen Ferina de Paz

Shoe wizard Nere Ku is represented by an assortment of women – actresses, models, beauty queens, TV personalities, socialites and those who simply love wearing his dazzling creations.

In this post, you can see six of them in editorial shoots that leave the reader in awe of Nere’s finished pieces. imageimageMay is the month of Flowers. It is also the season for Flores de Mayo and an excellent opportunity for some of our beautiful titleholders and handsome consorts to parade in public in traditional attires that symbolize an essence of the annual tradition.

At the SM Mall of Asia over the weekend, one such activity took place where the likes of Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2014 Parul Shah, Miss Asean 2014 1st Runner-Up Ferina Ann Juny de Paz, Reyna ng Aliwan 2015 1st Runner-Up Faith Garcia, Mr. Global Philippines Joseph Doruelo and Mr. RP 2015 3rd Runner-Up John Ver Sibangan took centerstage to proudly display the creations of some of our local designers like Edwin Uy, Raphael Louis Gonzales and Renee Salud, as well as be part of the international retail chain’s version of the much-loved activity.

One of the first gigs of Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 Kris Tiffany Janson after passing on the crown to Christi Lynn McGarry is to join six other beauties (including Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2014 Parul Shah, Miss Asean 2014 1stRU Ferina de Paz, Bb. Pilipinas Official Candidates Nancy Leonard and Julian Flores) in uber private Balesin Resort to do a sexy swimsuit photoshoot in the island for the BeMyWanderlust swimwear line of Bb. Pilipinas 2007 Maggie Wilson. And you know how beaches bring out the best in her. She was, quite simply, in her best elements all throughout the pictorial.

Hopefully, she can get all the good breaks now that she is almost done serving her contract for BPCI.

Ferina de Paz will be one of two Philippine representatives to Miss Asean 2014 scheduled to happen in Chiang Rai, Thailand from December 25-31, 2014

missasean20141 ferinadepaz31 I’m sure the name and face is quite familiar to you by now. And yes, she has already joined a couple of our local beauty contests. But this time around, Ferina de Paz of Muntinlupa City is all set to represent the Philippines as one of two country bets (along with Guillen Diaz) in Miss ASEAN 2014 which has been set for Chiang Rai, Thailand from December 25-31, 2014.

Some of you might recall the regional competition as the one participated in by MJ Lastimosa and Marie-Ann Umali back in 2012. While a string of doubts were raised about the way the whole contest was handled by the Thai organizers in the past, things might have already improved by now. After all, they need to preserve the brand name.

Tonight at Resorts World Manila, we shall find out who will win Miss Global Philippines 2014 and become the country’s bet to the Miss Global 2014 international finals scheduled to happen in style aboard the Crown Princess cruise ship to sail from Los Angeles, California to Mexico (Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas) this coming December 12-20, 2014.

Among the Official Candidates, I am putting my confidence in a group of six (6) ladies I have short-listed from the roster. They are (in this preferred order): Sirene Sutton, Catherine Almirante, Lorraine Erum, Christine Bernasor, Girlie Layon and Ferina de Paz. Possible spoilers I can see are Anngeli Ong, Rozette Pablo and Crystal Alday.

missglobal1 There are 23 Official Candidates for Miss Global Philippines 2014 presented to the Press at Hotel H2O late morning yesterday. The winner will represent the country in Miss Global 2014 scheduled to happen aboard the Crown Princess Cruise (sailing from L.A. to Mexico) come December 19. For now, the coronation night is scheduled for October 11 at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre of Resorts World Manila. So just to introduce the beauties in the photo grid above, here are their names:

What does it mean to be Darling of the Press?

When Carousel Productions introduced the Darling of the Press award last year, people started asking questions on whether this is just a duplication of Miss Photogenic (who is also voted upon by media reps/photographers).

The way I understand it, Darling of the Press is someone who can charm her way to the heart (and the final cut of the news coverage) of the reporters/news correspondents in an instant. It’s not enough that the candidate flashes her sweetest smile and sparkling pearly whites. She should also come off as sincere and not pretentious.

I can say the Angelee delos Reyes really knows her game plan to the letter. She struck Gold among the Press and was voted as their Darling at the end of the Press Presentation of Miss Philippines Earth 2013. Not far behind are the delegates from Muntinlupa City (Ferina de Paz) and Nagcarlan (Kimverlyn Suiza) who took Silver and Bronze, respectively.

So how far will the influence (clout if you will) of the Press take its winner during the finals? Far up in this case, if you ask me. But just as an insurance, the girl should also be the Darling of Carousel Productions because the people behind the organization can part the Pasig River without lifting a finger. 😉

Celebrating the International Year of Water Cooperation, Miss Philippines Earth 2013 comes with 48 beautiful Official Candidates from all over the Philippines. Come May 19, one of them will wear the crown currently being held by Miss Earth 2012 First Runner-Up Stephany Stefanowitz. Who will it be? Let me give you a quick rundown of the ladies who could be potential winners.

Coronation night on May 19 will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in a pageant Carousel Productions promises to be a one-of-a-kind, phenomenal, live show experience. I’m intrigued. How will they incorporate water in the show? We’ll see… 😉

Five of the hopefuls for Miss Philippines Earth 2013 look very familiar. In fact, one of them is more than just familiar to all of us, as she has already took part in several beauty contests (twice!), and has even represented us abroad. Anyways, they are:

Angelee Claudette de Los Reyes – Bb. Pilipinas 2012 Official Candidate and semifinalist. She was also Miss Bikini Philippines 2011 (who represented us in China) and International Model Philippines 2012 (who wore the Philippine sash in Bangkok). She is now Olongapo City’s bet for MPE – a second attempt, I must add.

Faith Santos – we all remember her as the Kagandahang Flores registrant for Bb. Pilipinas 2013, and one of the very few from the said camp who failed to enter the Official 50. She is now dead set on vindicating herself in MPE as the representative of Marilao, Bulacan.

Bernadette Aguirre – she’s the teenager (then) from Bulacan who made it as one of three last-minute replacements (Monique Manuel and Gerlie Lero were the other two) during Bb. Pilipinas 2011. She hardly made a dent in the competition (won by Shamcey Supsup). But as the entry of Sta. Maria in MPE2013, she is hoped to do better.

Mira Mae Dimmerling – this Cebuana was named 1st Runner-Up during Mr. & Ms. Eco-Tourism Philippines/Mossimo Bikini Summit 2011. She kept a relatively low profile ever since, but has now resurfaced as Bogo, Cebu’s candidate in MPE2013.

Ferina de Paz – we all remember this Kris Bernal-deadringer who was supposed to be Muntinlupa City’s gem during MPE2011, up until her withdrawal from the competition midway through. Hopefully, she will be able to sustain her abruptly-cut momentum back then, and become a front-runner for this year’s edition.

These are just five of the several ladies who will vie for the 2013 Miss Philippines Earth crown. I thought of featuring this quintet first because of the instant recognition they gave me. Can you see an eventual winner in any of them? Or has fate gotten tired of their causes? We’ll see… 😉
