Over the weekend, a fashion exhibit took the attention of many shoppers and mall visitors right in the middle of Fashion Hall. Metamorphosis was ongoing. It featured the various Filipiniana creations of designer-members of the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP). You might remember these numbers as the ones worn by the sagalas during the 37th Flores de Mayo 2016 “Luwalhati” at the SM Mall of Asia.

Photo Blog: 37th Flores de Mayo “Luwalhati” Winners

It was a successful staging of the 37th Flores de Mayo 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia yesterday afternoon till early evening. Thirty (30) designers – all members of the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines and the Congrecacion del Santisimo Nombre Del Niño Jesus – showed off their best creations while paying homage to the Virgin Mary and the Glorious Mysteries of the Holy Rosary.

Announced as Rosa Mystica is Joyce Ann Ricio wearing a Rholand Roxas number that is intricately-detailed from the crown all the way down to the train. Coming in as Reina de las Flores is Bb. Pilipinas 2016 alumna Jeslyn Santos who gave justice to the oh-so breathtaking Louis Pangilinan white ensemble that takes a wide circumference of the stage and the floor area to navigate around. La Flor de Manila is gorgeous Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2015 Leren Mae Bautista in an elegant red Filipiniana that she paraded around with such pride and joy. Completing the four winners are Magandang Pilipina Stephany Stefanowitz who was dressed by Designer Vince Sityar in another red original that the wearer handled with such ease and sophiatication.

Bodyshots MMXV: The Philippines’ Most Radical Model Search

Plus size, petite, tall, slim, voluptuous - Bodyshots XXMV will screen them all

Bodyshots XXMV will turn radical this year.

Instead of just focusing on the Runway Model and Alpha Male types, this year’s search will open its doors to a wider set of applicants. And this means including the petites (between 5’2″-5’6″) and plus-size individuals (Size 12).

This is certainly good news for a wide number of interested joiners who are either too short to do the catwalk or too healthy to slip into size 0 attires. What’s more, weekly challenges will allow the Official Candidates to earn points that will help in securing their way to the top, aside from the solicitation of online votes worldwide.

This coming weekend, July 4 (1:00pm-onwards) & 5 (10:00am-onwards) to be exact, there will be a screening for Bodyshots XXMV that will happen at the Century Hotel in Angeles City, Balibago, Pampanga. Look for Avel Antonio or call the contact number indicated above.

Metro Manila screening schedules will be July 11 and 12. Or you can regularly check the Facebook page of Bodyshots MMXV for specific updates.

What's more, there will be a simultaneous fashion design competition happening as well.

Another thing that will make this year’s search unique is the holding of a Fashion Design Competition integrated with the model search. So for those waiting for their chance to penetrate the local fashion industry, here is your chance. And all the members of FDAP (Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines) will take charge of everything.

bodyshots2014abc Calling all interested good-looking guys and girls who want to jumpstart a modelling career. Here’s the potential chance to shine in this year’s edition of Bodyshots. Organized by the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP), screening dates will be on April 14-15 to be held at the Sky Dome of SM City North Edsa. There will be another one on April 21 at Solaire Resort & Casino, a day before the final screening on April 22 in the same venue. Give it a try!

As the website notes, “Bodyshots is truly considered to be your passport to the industry. Some of the alumni of the competition include Eric Quizon, Marina Benipayo, Wilma Doesnt, Zanjoe Marudo, John Estrada, Hayden Kho, Joan Bitagcol, Rachel Soriano, Lucia Santiago, and Francine Prieto.”

Samantha Lewis for Binibining Pilipinas 2012: Is she ready for battle?

Here comes another possible Binibining Pilipinas 2012 contender. Introducing Samantha Lewis, a 5’10” fashion model with Filipino-British lineage. The 23 year-old La Union native is a Nursing graduate who was scouted by FDAP’s Edgar San Diego for the modelling world. Now an active member of PMAP (Professional Models Association of the Philippines), she has been working the ramp since 2006.

Do you think she has what it takes to conquer the national pageant and become a beauty queen?

Our local pool of professional models has always been a rich source of candidates for Binibining Pilipinas. Will Samantha Lewis follow the footsteps of her colleagues in the profession who are now former winners of the pageant? Let’s wait and see! 🙂
