Yesterday afternoon at the McKinley Function Room of Manila Polo Club, a post-event Thanksgiving Party was held in honor of newly-crowned Miss Tourism Philippines 2016 Sharyl Diana Catchillar and her court of beauties. Members of the pageant media were invited by the organizers and the main honoree’s Kagandahang Flores camp which trained her for competition.

Sharyl, who is studying to become a Doctor in the future, was at her loveliest as she was formally presented to the Press, along with her advocacy to promote the Province of Pangasinan (which she represented in the pageant) and be of medical service to her fellow Filipinos someday.

Congratulations again, Sharyl! 🙂

Miss Philippines Earth 2015 Press Presentation

At the poolside of Diamond Hotel, the Press Presentation of Miss Philippines Earth 2015 finally got underway around lunchtime today. Forty-one lovely candidates paraded in front of the media in their lovely two-piece swimwears to the delight of everyone in attendance.

As is the tradition every year, the Darling of the Press was chosen with Miss City of Manila Angelia Gabrena Ong getting the Gold, Miss San Antonio, Nueva Ecija Chanel Olive Thomas settling for the Silver and Miss Cabanatuan City Diana Mackey completing the Top 3 with the Bronze.

In terms of standouts, there are five (5) perennial ladies who registered well among all the Press invitees. They are Chanel Olive Thomas, Angelia Gabrena Ong, Diana Mackey, Mhon Theress Menaling (of Mandaue City) and Darlene Pepito (of Ormoc City). In addition, the likes of Carla Valderrama, Alyanna Cagandahan, Jona Sweett, Sofia Loren Deliu, Jian Cayla Salazar and Chezka Carandang deserve to be cited.

Presented by Hana Shampoo – in partnership with SM Markets – Miss Philippines Earth 2015 will be crowned by Jamie Herrell on May 31, 2015 at the SM MOA Arena. ABS-CBN will broadcast the finals.

Binibini 34 Teresita Ssen “WinWyn” Marquez is the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 Official Candidate that has the most polarizing effect among pageant fans and followers. It’s either one side loves her or the opposing side does not like the idea of her becoming a steady performer in this year’s edition. As a result, the ones in the anti-group keep on pouncing on her most evident shortcoming – height – and for some, a chin that does not pass muster with their exacting standards of physical beauty. Add to that the fact that she is a celebrity candidate, the glowing chance of stealing a title from one of the less-known contenders is quickly becoming a source of irritant.

I must admit. She is not the prettiest in this batch. But WinWyn knows how to capitalize on her natural strengths. The acting advantage has already given her the edge to face the public and handle interviews with such ease. Her command of the English language is nothing to sneer at as well. And her presentation skills – be it in swimwear, casual outfits, national costume or evening gown – are clearly more superior than a majority of the other comers.

So will Binibini 34 register a win come March 15? Possibly, if fate so decides. But there are no guarantees whatsoever. She is simply giving her best. And can we blame the judges if they find her deserving? As far as I’m concerned, I take results as they are announced. I can always pitch in with my choices. But if she is truly destined to be a titleholder or runner-up, then so be it. 😉

Binibini Face-Off #9: Nancy VS Neesha

bbplogo2015a Here’s the interesting thing with this face-off.

Binibini 33 Neesha Murjani is the type of beauty who looks so much better in person. Her charm overflows when you’re in her company. Binibini 29 Nancy Leonard, on the other hand, looks very good face-to-face, but comes across as far more gorgeous in stills and random images. Not that it’s a shortcoming for either. But to be able to appreciate these ladies better, spending time around them will give anyone a better assessment of their individual pluses and otherwise.

Body-wise, Nancy takes the lead. Hers is the shapelier form that can make heads turn easily. Neesha possesses a different body type – less of the soft curves, more of the gym-toned contours.

Now, in terms of communication, I believe Neesha has a fair edge. That advantage, though, can slip away if the Zamboangueña turns on the heat.

So we’re now down to personality. Nancy exudes a more aggressive disposition to Neesha’s occasionally shy but very likeable demeanor. It will all boil down to who is capable of upping her positive qualities and reducing the areas for improvement.

I’d go for Nancy in this match. 😉
