Starting tonight at 7:30pm and every Sunday thereafter, the etc cable channel will start airing a new program titled “Journey to the Crown” | A Celebration of Beauty. Here’s a Press Release from the network:
“Journey to the Crown is a reality-documentary show that features one of our passions –beauty pageants. Right at the start of our consciousness, a beauty pageant always means the Miss Universe Crown–the holy grail of all pageants. It is deeply embedded in our culture, a much-anticipated event and a source of inspiration for Filipinas who dream of bringing pride to the country by taking home the crown.
This weekly program is hosted by 2010 Miss Universe 4th Runner-up Venus Raj and 2011 Miss Universe 3rd Runner-up Shamcey Supsup-Lee. Don’t miss out on watching this amazing show and join the conversation by using the #TheCrownonETC and #FeistierETC hashtags when you post about it on social media.
Jonas Gaffud, the prime mover who worked hard on the side of the Philippines to have The 65th Miss Universe Pageant held in the country early next year, is one of the show’s producers. He is encouraging everyone to check out the premiere episode.
Patti Grandidge, now happily married to Jon Herrera, is one of cable TV's most beautiful faces
She is easily one of the most beautiful faces that ever graced local cable TV. Whenever possible, I always make it a point to watch her lifestyle shows on ETC. And the lady never fails to lift up my sagging spirit the minute she speaks and flashes her sunny smile. Patricia Kristina Grandidge is all that. And more.
Prior to hosting ‘Etcetera’ and practically becoming the face of the ETC Channel, Patti was a food blogger who got dubbed as the cupcake queen, especially with her popular Sweet Patti Cakes. She actually made a business out of her passion for baking. But versatility becomes her the minute she starts to dress up for the camera and talk about the latest fashion trends in clothes, make-up, accessories and the like.
Patti married Jon Herrera last year
Last year, she took the big leap to marriage, and is now known as Mrs. Jon Herrera as well. And that is where the title of this post enters the picture. She could’ve easily given some of our beauty pageant contenders a run for their money had she decided to consider joining one back in 2010-2011 when she was just starting to make a name out of herself in the country. But it just wasn’t meant to be. Her life is much too precious between hosting and baking up until early 2013 that adding another area of commitment was something she never really entertained anymore.

Have a sweet life, Patti! 🙂
Top Model Philippines will be hosted by Anne Curtis
The older version of Philippines Next Top Model back in 2007 hosted by Ruffa Gutierrez
And since we are in the subject of Asia’s Next Top Model in the previous post, allow me to herald the big return of Top Model Philippines on local TV via ABS-CBN. While there was already a previous local adaptation back in 2007 (Philippines Next Top Model won by Grendel Alvarado) on the now defunct RPN-9 and a supposed second adaptation (but altogether cancelled before auditions) of Top Model Philippines on the ETC cable channel last 2012, this will be a totally fresh take on the reality model search that has made Tyra Banks a global name. Trust the network to inject its own innovations that might even surprise the original American host and creator of the same.
Audition dates and venues have yet to be finalized, but I will blog them as soon as all the details are provided. But one thing is for sure. Anne Curtis will be the host (actually, I would have preferred a taller lady like Bea Alonzo, but oh well…) and this should keep her away from doing all those sold-out concerts at the Araneta Coliseum in the meantime. 😉
Season 3 of one of my favorite local shows is coming!
(L-R) Rajo Laurel, Apples Aberin, and Jojie Lloren will return for Season 3 of Project Runway Philippines together with new host Tweetie De Leon-Gonzalez
I thought Season 3 will never see the light of day anymore, but lo and behold, Project Runway Philippines will be back on cable TV’s ETC Channel in just a few months from now. Auditions will be held this month and next (read the details below) for the fashion designer-contestants who will comprise the group of new contenders. The top winner will be given a 10-page spread in Mega Magazine and a cash prize of Five Hundred Thousand Pesos plus a start-up business package of 10 sewing machines, a short-course Fashion Design scholarship in Europe, apprenticeship with the top fashion designers at the Asian Institute of Fashion Design and a full 4-year scholarship in Fashion Design at the Asian Institute of Fashion Design’s iAcademy! Whew! He/she will also join the winners’ circle of Season 1’s Aries Lagat and Season 2’s Manny Marquez.
A new host will fill in the shoes left by the first two seasons’ Teresa Hererra and she is none other than Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez. She will be joined by the show’s regular judges Rajo Laurel & Apples Aberin plus mentor Jojie Lloren.
So to everyone interested to join, here’s how:
So what are you waiting for?
Season 2 of Glee will start airing today (Sept. 21 in the US) at 4 PM (via satellite) with a primetime telecast at 9pm over Jack TV and ETC, and this makes fans in the Philippines the first in Asia to watch it fresh and up-to-date.
But before doing that, watch this promo video first. You can see all the leads plus Sunshine Corazon (or Charice if you will) sharing her thoughts on joining the cast.
