Miss World Australia 2014 Courtney Thorpe
Miss World Australia 2014 Courtney Thorpe (middle) with 1st Runner-Up Alex Hecker (right) and 2nd Runner-Up Laura Jane
Courtney Thorpe, a Queensland beauty, was crowned Miss World Australia 2014 during the finals held at the Oaks Cypress Lakes in Hunter Valley. She will now represent Down Under in Miss World 2014 to be hosted in London come December. Her 1st Runner-Up is Alex Hecker, with Laura Jane getting 2nd Runner-Up honors.
Courtney is hoped to do better than her predecessor, Erin Holland, who placed in the Top 10 of Miss World 2013 and was named Miss World Oceania.
Congratulations, Courtney! 🙂
She used to be known as Taylah Jessica Marsh. But for legal reasons, she has already changed her name to Indeya Taylah Passfield now.
Dayana Grageda used to be a Miss Australia Latina.
Dayana is fiery!
Relatively speaking, Miss World Australia
2013 Erin Victoria Holland would be quite a tough act to follow for fellow Aussie beauties wanting to become her immediate successor. Aside from making it to the Top 10 and placing 2nd in Talent last year in Bali, she also got into the good side of MWO Head Julia Morley and included her in a string of their non-stop round-the-world itineraries. Perhaps, her good singing voice helped a lot as well.
Indeya Taylah sizzles!
But among those who are being seriously considered to take part in and eventually take the crown of Miss World Australia
2014, there are two (2) ladies who just might have the edge against the other comers. First, there is Miss Earth Air Australia 2012 (and Rachel McAdams deadringer
) Indeya Taylah Passfield (she used to carry the name Taylah Jessica Marsh
) and Miss Earth Fire Australia 2013 (and one-time Miss Australia Latina
) Dayana Grageda.
Indeya (left) and Dayana are close friends even outside pageant events.
These two stunners will definitely be helped by their previous pageant experiences. And if they play their cards right, the chances of traveling to London come December are bright for one of them. 😉
Miss World Australia and Miss World Oceania 2013 Erin Holland relishing her new role as Ambassador for the Australian Working Dog Rescue.
I will always have a soft spot for beauty queens who share a bond with man’s best friend like no other. And this is the case with Miss World Australia and Miss World Oceania 2013 Erin Holland who has been appointed as Ambassador for the Australian Working Dog Rescue.
During the photoshoot for the non-profit charitable institution, Erin mentioned that “…Puppies and charity – my two favourite things in the world. This will go down in history as my favourite shoot to date.”
You can also help spread awareness for Australian Working Dog Rescue by visiting and liking their Facebook Page. Give it up for the working dogs! Arf! Arf!
One of the guys above will be named Mr. World 2014 before Sunday ends in Manila.

There is only a 7-hour time difference between Manila and Torquay. And since the finals of Mr. World 2014 inside the Riviera International Conference Center will start at around 1:00PM (8:00PM Manila), chances are high that we shall know the winner a good hour before midnight tonight.
MW2013 Megan Young will host
And should you want to watch the live online broadcast, head on over to Mr. World’s YouTube channel
Miss World 2013 Megan Young will host, together with Frankie Cena. And if we are to follow the presence of both Miss World 2012 Wenxia Yu and Miss World Oceania 2013 Erin Holland in the English Riviera, there is also an excellent chance that they will be guest-performing one of their operatic pieces.
Who will Mr. World 2012/13 Francisco Escobar Parra turn over the responsibilities to? We shall definitely find out tonight! 😀
Singing chops for some, Instrument-playing for a couple.
Dancing to the max for more than a few, plus another song number.
In what could be Miss World 2013’s version of the popular hit show America’s Got Talent, the twelve (12) finalists showed to all and sundry why they deserve the short-listing for the live presentation of their respective skills – be it in singing, dancing or instrument-playing. The only difference is that the judges did not have a big “X” in front of their tables and a button to press if they didn’t like the talent.
It may as well be a coming-out show of sorts for host delegate Vania Larissa who – proving why she won Indonesia’s Got Talent – sang “A Question of Honour” like a true pro and wowed the judges. She must have left them no choice but to key in high scores. And the 18 year-old deserves the praises. She really has the gift of a superlative operatic singing voice while reaching high notes without excessively straining her vocal cords. And her reward? The top Talent prize!
Vania Larissa did her country proud by winning the Talent Show.
The three other ladies who scored the next highest to Vania were also singers – Erin Holland from Australia (“Someone Like You” from Jekyll and Hyde), Anna Zayachkivska of Ukraine (“Moment of Glory”, an original composition), and Kirtis Malone of British Virgin Islands (“Hallelujah”). Camille Munro of Canada, the only dancer who made it to the magic circle, placed fifth.
Just to show you Vania’s talent, below is the vid of her winning performance during last year’s Indonesia’s Got Talent.

Congratulations to all the winners! 🙂
Three outfit changes in a day!
Clowning around with Australia's Erin Holland
Now that Miss World 2013 is staying put in Bali, the schedule of activities has already been adjusted to suit the island paradise and what it can offer for the long-haul duration of the pageant. The people at Sentul International Convention Center in Jakarta must be disgusted that all their preparations came to naught. I just hope that the new venue will befit the grandeur of the finals.
Anyways, our Megan has been busy as a bee of late. With the Miss World 2013 Press Conference, stage rehearsals and the Opening Ceremony in the calendar of activities, she is back in harness just like the whirlwind of showbiz commitments she is accustomed to. In between, she always makes it a point to get friendly with the delegates who have not yet sampled her brand of sweetness. And the game Miss Australia Erin Holland is her latest conquest.
Time to rest for now and spend a lazy Sunday with the family. 😉
I just decided to share (more than) a few of the contestants’ introduction videos. You can watch them in order by visiting Miss World’s YouTube channel HERE. Then you can share your thoughts.
