Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Teresita Ssen “Winwyn” Marquez did star as the love interest of actor Vhong Navarro during last year’s “Unli Life”. But in the upcoming romantic movie from Regal Entertainment titled “Time And Again”, she plays the lead character with Enzo Pineda as her leading man. Such a long overdue for this dear beauty queen-friend of mine. So if you have plans to watch a local movie on February 20 (and one of the days after), let us support her in this one.
She originally planned to become a Bb. Pilipinas Queen first. But who would have thought that fate would bring her halfway around the world to Bolivia in South America as Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2017 and eventually establish pageant history as the first Filipina (and first Asian) to win the crown of Reina Hispanoamericana 2017.
Teresita Ssen “Win-Wyn” Marquez grew up in the world of local showbusiness and politics. Her parents – actor/comedian/former City Mayor Joey Marquez and actress Alma Moreno – eventually rubbed off the excitement of being in front of the camera to this exotic beauty whose dancing prowess and love for acting were put to good use when she became a TV celebrity with GMA-7.
But the performer in Win-Wyn wanted more than just the klieg lights and endless hours on the set. So when she finally decided to go the pageant route, it was just a matter of time before she would win a national title.
Sta. Cruz, Bolivia was an entirely unique experience for our Reina. Along with brother Yeoj, she withstood the city’s tropical savanna climate where “surazos” or the cold winds from the Argentine pampas make the temperature drop considerably.
She aggressively continued with her mission and unleashed the fiery performer in her to outclass all the Latinas in her way to be crowned as the best last year.
Win-wyn is now classified as a movie actress as well. She has also become a leading lady of comedian Vhong Navarro in the movie “Unli Life” and has just finished another one where she plays the prime character opposite actor Enzo Pineda.
Tonight (or tomorrow morning in Manila), she will crown her Reina Hispanoamericana successor and will return to Manila soon after to face more showbiz commitments. I offer now a toast to the woman who has helped in making the pageant brand become more popular in this part of the world and elsewhere. You have already started building your legacy, although I know there will be more to the current purpose in life that you are planning for yourself to achieve. Politics in a few years or so, perhaps?

It was a night of festive fun, cheers, and all-around singing and dancing during the 10XGiving Anniversary Concert of UniSilver Time at the Aliw Theater. With a close to perfect attendance of the watch company’s celebrity endorsers and timebassadors, the audience (which included adoring fans, company officials & employees, media reps and VIP guests flown in from China) got more than two hours of non-stop performances which kept everyone’s smiles on their faces.
Talents from all three TV networks were represented, with Karylle, Sam Milby, Ejay Falcon and Julie Anne San Jose leading the charge. Popular teen idols Barbie Forteza, Enzo Pineda, Bea Binene, Derrick Monasterio, Eula Caballero, Martin Escudero, Valeen Montenegro, Vin Abrenica, Sophie Albert, Joshua Dionisio and Ken Chan were also on hand to entertain. Boyband Upgrade, sexy all-female group Sassy Girls and the guys from Juan Direction added excitement to the proceedings. And pageantry-wise, two Mister International winners – Neil Perez and Jose Anmer Paredes – also gave a pleasantly surprising dance number alongside Mr. Global Philippines Joseph Doruelo and runner-up Nicko Cruz.

GMA-7 recently launched their landmark production of “Lupang Hinirang“, the Philippine National Anthem which currently signs in and signs off their daily broadcast. This will also be officially used in all SM Cinemas nationwide.
The video highlights the different historical points in the country’s history that led to where we are right now. It assembles the biggest and the brightest talents of GMA-7 portraying roles such as Lapu-Lapu (Aljur Abrenica), Gregorio del Pilar (Dingdong Dantes), Manuel L. Quezon (Richard Guetierrez), Emilio Aguinaldo (Dennis Trillo), Andres Bonifacio (Mark Anthony Fernandez), Dr. Jose Rizal (Marvin Agustin), People Power nun (Marian Rivera), Gomburza (Paolo Paraiso, Victor Aliwalas & Bodie Cruz), the women who created the first Philippine flag (Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos & Bea Benene), Filipino-American War heroes (TJ Trinidad, JC Tiuseco, Dion Ignacio & Enzo Pineda) and many more!
“Lupang Hinirang,” which runs for two and a half minutes, is directed by Paul Ticzon, who says it took his team 10 months of meticulous research and preparation to shoot the vignettes.
Personally, I feel proud(er) of being a Filipino everytime I watch the same.
Excellent job, Kapuso network!
By the way, today is a non-working holiday throughout the Philippines due to the end of Ramadan. Another long weekend ahead! Enjoy! 😉
Today, at exactly 11:45AM, GMA-7’s new Sunday musical-variety show makes its premiere. Party Pilipinas, which replaces the long-running SOP, has been heavily anticipated for the past few weeks now. Aside from having all the network’s top and upcoming stars hosting and/or appearing in the show, many other artists and performers have been signed up to spice things up.
Here is the OST of Party Pilipinas’ dance theme:

SOP’s original quartet of hosts – Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Janno Gibbs – will continue to anchor the show. They will be joined by Richard Gutierrez, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Heart Evangelista, Carla Abellana, Jay-R, Kyla, Carla Abellana, Raymond Gutierrez, new kapuso talent Mark Bautista, Marvin Agustin, Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos, Aljur Abrenica, Kris Bernal, Mark Herras, Kris Lawrence, Ynna Assistio, La Diva, Joshua Dionisio, Barbie Forteza, Jhake Vargas, Steven Silva, Sarah Lahbati, Diva Montelaba, Enzo Pineda, Rocco Nacino, the Starsruck V Avengers, Miguel Escueta, POP Girls, the newly-formed Party Pilipinas Dance Crew, new Pinoy boyband XLR8 and a lot more. The network even hired internationally-renowned dance choreographer Ruben Monet to handle all the dancers’ moves in the same. Meanwhile, popular Korean boy band U-Kiss will make their first appearance on Philippine TV via Party Pilipinas.
And then there were two. Two winners, that is. The text votes and the Starstruck council members have spoken. During the Final Judgment at the Araneta Coliseum last Sunday night, Steven Silva – a Filipino/Chinese/Portuguese dude who resides in Oceanside, California but representing Davao – and Sarah Lahbati – a Filipino/Moroccan teener who used to live in Geneva, Switzerland and is now based in Cavite – were declared Ultimate Male Survivor and Ultimate Female Survivor, respectively. Although Sarah’s win was almost assured going into the finals, Steven’s was a bit of a surprise since his two competitors – Enzo Pineda and Rocco Nacino – were given the edge to come out victorious.
Steven Silva - Ultimate Male Survivor
Sarah Lahbati - Ultimate Female Survivor
After all scores from the council members and percentages of the text votes were tallied, these two came out on top. Steven got 93.5 total, while Sarah notched 94.6 which gave them relatively comfortable leads over their closest pursuers. Enzo Pineda of QC was named First Prince, while First Princess was Cebuana Diva Montelaba.
Steven and Sarah both win P1.5 million in cash and an exclusive contract with GMA-7 worth a minimum guarantee amount of P3.5 million. The remaining contenders in the Top 5 each received P200,000 in cash plus exclusive GMA-7 contracts. A bit of good news that night was the announcement that the 9 avengers (losers in the Final 14) will also be signed by the network to exclusive contracts, thereby keeping rival stations from pirating the new talents they have painstakingly built in the last four months that the show was on air.
Below is the video higlighting the announcement of winners of Starstruck V last February 21.

This is where the real test begins for the winners and the losers. Let’s see who among them will become big stars in a year or two.
From the initial cast of 7 boys and 7 girls, the Final 5 Survivors for GMA-7’s long-running reality artista search Starstruck V have been revealed and these young showbiz wannabes will try to outshine one another come Final Judgment Night on February 21 at Araneta Coliseum. They are: Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, Steven Silva, Sarah Lahbati and Diva Montelaba.
The Starstruck V Final 5 : (top L-R) Rocco Nacino, Enzo Pineda, Steven SIlva; (bottom L-R) Diva Montelaba, Sarah Lahbati
It did surprise me a bit that the shy and oft-pensive Steven Silva went into the Top 5 with the highest number of text votes (more than half a mil). He must really have a strong base of supporters who continuously back him up week after week. I would be happy seeing either Enzo or Rocco take it all in the male category. But if Steven pulls the rug from under his competitors, I wouldn’t be shocked.
As for the two ladies, the competition is probably best decided with a toss coin since their text votes and council scores are too close to call an outright winner. If you ask me, my bet would be Sarah Lahbati but gut-feel tells me that the Cebuanos will pour their all-out support to Diva this week going into the final night come Sunday.
For all their fans and supporters, you can still text your votes up until midnight of Saturday, February 20.
ENZO-SARAH for the win!
For now, I’m for an ENZO-SARAH win… 😉
Here are video clips of portions of last Sunday night’s final elimination night going into the Top 5:
