After the quick but fierce invasion of Supertyphoon Santi which caused delays in the arrival of flights into the Philippines late Friday evening till Saturday morning last week, the girls of Miss Earth 2009 have started to arrive. In particular, three early birds (Misses USA, Sweden and South Africa) checked-in before the bad weather made its landfall so they were spared the hassle of long layovers for their connecting flights to Manila. They are currently housed at the Carousel Gardens before checking in as a group at Discovery Suites today or tomorrow. Here are some photos of the girls already in town for the competition.

Here are more confirmed delegates for Miss Earth 2009 scheduled to culminate with the coronation night at the Boracay Convention Center on November 22. The list is getting longer and this should augur well for the 3rd largest beauty pageant, worldwide that is. As mentioned in two previous blogs, the delegates will start arriving this coming weekend and will be officially billeted at Discovery Suites in the Ortigas Business District for the entirety of their Manila stay before moving to Boracay Island towards the homestretch.

Delegates for the 2009 Miss Earth Pageant should start arriving in Manila late next week and plunge straight into a whirlwind of pre-pageant activities which include a long string of environmental awareness campaigns, promotional appearances for sponsors, preliminary competitions and the annual caravan where the ladies will be divided into 3-4 groups to visit different places around the country to spread the Miss Earth cause while giving the locals an opportunity to share the country’s world-renowned hospitality to each contestant.

Before heading to Boracay Island in mid-November for the finals on November 22, all the contestants will be staying in Manila. While here, the ladies will be billeted at the Official Residence of Miss Earth 2009 – Discovery Suites – located in the bustling Ortigas Business District where the nightlife is just as exciting as its pulsating vibe during the day. They will surely enjoy the spacious units in this suite hotel plus the warm service, up-to-date facilities and proximity to shopping.

I’m definitely excited about the arrival of all official delegates, especially that there are some very strong contenders who have already shown their worth in previous Miss Universe and Miss World editions.
Watch out for more Miss Earth 2009 updates in this blog in the weeks to come!
