Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong and Miss Air 2015 Dayanna Grageda led the opening of the Race to 1 Million Seedlings Nursery of the AFP
Just recently, Miss Earth Foundation partnered with the Civil Relations Group of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the opening of the Race to 1 Million Seedlings Nursery which will serve as its nurturing place till the start of the actual planting season for the same.
Leading the charge of the environment-focused beauties was Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong and her Miss Air 2015 Dayanna Grageda of Australia, alongside the country’s elemental reps Catherine Joy Marin (Water), Carla Valderrama (Fire) and Jona Sweett (Eco-Tourism)
The Race to 1 Million Seedlings is a project that aims to plant 1 Million Trees within the National Capital Region (NCR) in one year and enhance the environmental protection awareness among different communities.
Photo ops with the Miss Earth beauties now
Don’t worry if you don’t have the area to plant the seedlings. You can always coordinate with R1MS inside Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo to participate in the seed-potting activities thay will be regularly held during the projected period of completion within the year. This is open to individuals or groups who are willing to be part of the important endeavor.
Note: Cash donations not accepted. Instead, you will be given a list of polybag and fruit seedling suppliers with whom you can make arrangements with.
Fruit trees and indigenous trees (like Narra) are recommended. DENR has now discouraged the planting of Mahogany Trees in urban areas since they have been found to destroy the water table.

Right after the long Holiday break, Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong and her elemental court will buckle down to the cause they have been originally chosen for – protecting Mother Earth. Miss Air Dayanna Grageda, Miss Water Brittany Ann Payne and Miss Fire Thiessa Sickert will work with our Queen to promote and further the meaningful projects for the environment.
And this could be a really special group of winners. With the able and active leadership of Angelia, they can possibly accomplish more in terms of projects and undertakings. In fact, I believe that she has already bonded close with both Dayanna and Brittany (whom she fondly calls “Hangin” and “Tubig”) while in Vienna so they can already set their minds well on what to successfully put into action in early 2016. Thiessa (“Apoy”) has also grown closer with her new sisters.
In the meantime, I wish all four ladies to have a fresh and productive start for 2016.
Happy New Year, Miss Earth, Air, Water and Fire!
A nice holiday greeting from Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong
Angelia Ong makes it two in a row for the Philippines. She’s now Miss Earth 2015 and the country’s 3rd in the pageant’s history
I love it when a candidate faces the near insurmountable task of doing a back-to-back pageant win in a competition. Angelia Gabrena Ong of the Philippines faced the challenge head-on and got rewarded with a crown she promised to bring back to the country. She is now your Miss Earth 2015 and the successor of last year’s Jamie Herrell.
In a foreign country, Angelia took the test (and pressure) of representing the country of the reigning titleholder and passed with flying colors. There is no doubt that she won fair and square. She will now be the voice of Mother Earth for one full year. Her Elemental Court is made up of Dayanna Grageda of Australia (Air), Brittany Payne of the USA (Water) and Thiessa Sickert of Brazil (Fire).
Congratulations, Angelia! 😀

The Miss Earth 2015 Press Presentation at Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront
The Environmental Seminar at Novomatic
Tree Planting and Apricot Delicacy Challenge for the candidates in Hackls Marille
The Talent Competition won by Misses South Africa, Portugal and Guatemala
The Auction Night at Chaya Fuera Club in Vienna
Host delegate from Austria was chosen Darling of the Press
There is an endless stream of pre-pageant activities for the Miss Earth 2015 candidates in Vienna, Austria. And the ladies are simply happy to participate in each one of them. From the Press Presentation & Talent Competition held inside Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront to the Charity Auction Night at Chaya Fuera Club where they raised funds for different causes to an Environmental Seminar at Novomatic to a fun-filled Tree Planting Ceremony plus Apricot Delicacy Challenge in Hackls Marille, the host country has definitely prepared everyone for a most fulfilling pageant period. This despite the cold weather in the Austrian capital.
And the schedule doesn’t appear to be clearing up in the next few. More challenges to partake in and more medals to win before they actually buckle up for the more gruelling stages of preparing for the Coronation Night in Marx Halle on December 5.
I tip my hat to the hosts and the delegates! 🙂
The flag of Norfolk Island, one of Australia's two external territories
Looks like Dayanna Grageda will still be able to compete in Miss Earth. Next year.
Miss Norfolk Island in Miss Earth 2015?
Remember my previous post
about two Miss Australia beauties – Nadine Roberts and Dayanna Grageda
– arriving in Manila for Miss Earth 2014?
Well, that small saga might have already been settled by now without any unnecessary catfights and the like. You all know by now that Nadine Roberts is already the proud wearer of the Australian sash. But still, Dayanna Grageda remains vacationing in Manila and making her presence felt in a way.
Enter Norfolk Island.
This tiny island between Australia/New Zealand and New Caledonia – which is part of the Commonwealth of Australia as one of its two non-mainland territories – will reportedly be represented in next year’s Miss Earth by Dayanna.

Dayanna Grageda (2nd from right) with (left to right): Miss World Philippines 2014 1st Princess Lorraine Kendrickson, Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Miss Philippines Water 2014 Kim Covert during the birthday celebration of Lauren Young at 71 Gramercy.
So is this a case of ‘all’s not-so-well but ends well‘ compromise for the two ladies?
I certainly hope so. 😉
Dayanna Grageda (2nd from left) is the dethroned Miss Earth Australia under questionable circumstances. Nadine Roberts (1st from right) is the new Miss Earth Australia as announced by the organizers Down Under.
Above is the message of the new Miss Earth Australia Nadine Roberts announcing her departure for Manila.
Above is the wardrobe of the new Miss Earth Australia Nadine Roberts ready for packing.
So can someone explain to me why the supposedly dethroned Miss Earth Dayanna Grageda (2nd from right) is already in Manila and set to attend the ABS-CBN Foundation's 25th Anniversary together with (left to right): Miss Philippines Earth Jamie Herrell, Miss Earth Mexico Yeleni Carillo, Miss Philippines Water Kim Covert and Princess Manzon of Carousel Productions?
As Peter Sereno of Dear Pageant Girl stated, “and the plot thickens!” with a hashtag #fastenyourseatbelts.
Why is supposedly dethroned Miss Earth Australia Dayanna Grageda already in Manila with Carousel Productions? The new Miss Earth Australia Nadine Roberts is all set to depart for Manila on Wednesday.
So who will be officially recognized as the one true Miss Earth Australia for Miss Earth 2014?
I have already blogged in the past about the questionable circumstances under which Dayanna Grageda was dethroned as Miss Earth Australia 2014 and her 3rd Runner-up Nadine Roberts was immediately appointed as replacement.
Is there a controversy just waiting to break wide open in a few days?
This I have got to watch and find out.
