So many things have been said and done about the victory of Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters as Miss Universe 2017. There are those who fully agree with her #1 placement. And then there are the ones who would have been happier with surprise performer Davina Bennett who should have given her a serious rob for the Mikimoto crown and even the placement of 1st Runner-Up Laura Gonzalez.
At the end of the day, the stars aligned for the South African who has just started her reign as the 66th member of the sisterhood.

It’s a second victory for South Africa in Miss Universe with Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters winning the 66th Edition of the Pageant.
First Runner-Up is Laura Gonzalez of Colombia, with Second Runner-Up going to Davina Bennett of Jamaica.
After the Final 3 Q&A, many people (including myself) thought that it was between South Africa and Jamaica for the win. But Colombia edged out the island girl and duplicated the placement of Ariadna Gutierrez last 2015, one notch higher than Andrea Tovar during the 65th.
And so, Demi-Leigh succeeds Iris Mittenaere and will be coming to Manila next month for the Christmas Tour of the winners.
Miss Philippines Rachel Peters made it as one of the Top 10 Finalists.
Congratulations to all!
P.S. This edition marks the return of the Mikimoto crown.
