The grand finals of Miss Brasil 2011 won’t be until July 23 – Saturday next week – but I have already come up with my short list of favorites to win and become the host delegate of Miss Universe 2011 in Sao Paulo. My top pick is actually the representative of Sao Paulo itself because she is, in my opinion, the best in the lot. Rafaela Butareli is a deadringer for fellow Brazilian Miss Earth 2004 Priscilla Meirelles although the former exudes a more elegant and sophisticated aura that can never go unnoticed. The other ladies in my Top 5 are Misses Distrito Federal (Alessandra Baldini), Ceara (Anastacia Duarte), Rio de Grande do Norte (Daliane Menezes) and Mato Grosso do Sul (Raiza Vidal)
The other contenders in my Top 11 (I had to give consideration to one more girl) are Misses Rio de Janeiro (Mariana Figuereido), Parana (Gabriela Pereira), Mato Grosso (Jessica Duarte), Santa Catarina (Michelly Bohnen), Rio Grande Do Sul (Priscila Machado) and Espirito Santo (Marcela Granato).
Actually, anyone among my Top 4 can be a deserving winner because Rafaela, Alessandra, Anastacia and Daliane are all stand-outs and can be fielded in the Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Continente Americano very easily. It’s just that with Sao Paulo hosting Miss Universe 2011, who better to act as hostess to all the candidates but a true-blue local who can inspire the support of everyone in making sure that the pageant is excellently conducted from Day 1. Miss Brasil 2011 should be equally gracious and competitive – a combination that requires the winner to be unconditonally warm while allowing other more deserving contenders to shine but not lagging behind either. Because as it is, the host delegate is already – almost – assured of a semifinal (or quarterfinal) slot at the onset.

Good luck to all the ladies and may the best ones win! 😉
