As reported/confirmed by different reputable pageant/entertainment sites, the selection committee of the 70th Miss Universe will be an all-female panel made up of different personalities from seven different origins. It reads like a Top 7 where the countries of France, Israel, the Philippines, Brazil, Puerto Rico, USA and India are represented. Now will these seven ladies favor the bets of their respective countries. Maybe. But I’m not leaning on it.
There is the 65th Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere, Miss Universe 1976 Rina Mor (nee Messinger), Philippine actress Marian Rivera-Dantes, Brazilian Supermodel Adriana Lima, Puerto Rican celebrity Adamari Lopez, model/influencer Lori Harvey and former Miss India Universe Urvashi Rautela.
There are other names that floated, like Patrick Starr, Coco Rocha, Tali Eshkoli, Lyrica Okano and Daniel Rubino. But it is possible that there will be a different set of judges for Preliminaries and Finals. I would rather have the same set of panelists from start to finish, though.
Your thoughts, dear readers?
Miss Universe China 2011 Luo Zilin can now be seen on Oxygen’s The Face.
Supermodels Naomi Campbell (center), Karolina Kurkova (R) and Coco Rocha headline “The Face” together with Nigel Barker.
Don’t look now, but Miss Universe China 2011 and Miss Universe 2011 4th Runner-Up Luo Zilin has grabbed the opportunity to extend her international modeling career to yet another avenue, however riskier the move could be. She is all set to appear as one of the twelve finalists who will fight to win an exclusive global modeling contract with Ulta Beauty plus the title of “The Face
” on US cable’s Oxygen Channel.
I actually heard about the show when Nigel Barker served as one of the judges in Miss Universe 2012. And the other day, the first episode – titled ‘The Fight to Make Top 12’ – was made available for free on iTunes. I downloaded right away and watched the same with much gusto. Imagine my pleasant surprise to see Luo Zilin as one of the 24 short-listed ladies judged by Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha. And imagine my even more pleasant surprise when I saw all three supermodel-coaches wanting (so bad) to get the Chinese stunner on their respective teams. In the end, she opted to join Team Naomi as expected.

Let’s see how far Zilin will go on ‘The Face’
This early, Zilin is already being pegged as a top favorite to make it all the way to Top 3 in the show. And her coach Naomi is very confident that she will be a real force to reckon with. Let’s see in the succeeding episodes so she can make up for her disappointing fifth-place Miss Universe finish (behind our own Shamcey Supsup).
I’m not sure yet which channel will carry ‘The Face‘ in the Philippines, but my best bets would be TLC, Star World or 2nd Avenue. It will premiere in the U.S. on February 12, but if you’re an eager beaver and want to watch the first episode right away, then head over to iTunes and click the link under the TV Shows section. 😉
