This is not her official homecoming yet, but Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray arrived back in the Philippines as arranged by LCS Group of Companies and Gov. Luis Chavit Singson. This further fuels the blog I posted earlier about the changing of guards for the Miss Universe franchise in the country. Let us wait for a formal announcement on that.
According to this interview made by PEP.ph with Gov. Chavit Singson (who still happens to be a business partner of the Miss Universe Organization), the 2018 edition will definitely not be happening in the Philippines.
Singson added that Mainland China is also out of the equation, giving the reason that the live staging cannot be held there. In its place, he gave two possible choices left – Macau and South Korea.
Macau has already been rumored as potential host many weeks back. Now as far as the entry of Seoul in the picture, Singson stated that the conciliatory talks between the US and North Korea along with South Korea could be a possible clincher to hold the pageant in Seoul since the likelihood of a Miss North Korea participating is starting to shape up nicely. Now what could be more newsworthy than that for our beloved beauty competition?

The Miss World Philippines 2015 Official Candidates made a promotional appearance for the inauguration of the Chavit Singson Boeing 737 Manny Pacquiao plane at the NAIA together with Ms. Cory Quirino and the two named-Gentlemen themselves. And with Ilocos Sur committing as provincial host of the pageant this year, it all makes sense as the ladies will visit Vigan and other places in the said province as part of their pre-pageant activities.
Meanwhile, GMA-7 will be airing the finals on October 18 after a contract signing with the network the other day. Ms. Cory Quirino promises this year’s edition as the biggest ever, mentioning that the number of contestants has been the biggest assembly ever for the search to date.
