Last night at the CCP Complex in Pasay City, Nicole Borromeo – representing the Sinulog Festival of Cebu – was crowned Reyna ng Aliwan 2019 in the annual competition and automatically became the Festival Queen of All Festivals. She also gifted her province its 9th win, strengthening Cebu’s excellent record in the search. She effectively followed the trail set by the likes of previous titleholders Jamie Herrell, Karla Henry, Cynthia Thomalla, Rogelie Catacutan, Angeli Dione Gomez, Marla Alforque, Steffi Pearson Aberasturi, Sian Maynard and the late Rizzini Alexis Gomez.
It’s only now that I am posting her video during the Q&A in the Pageant Night that I chaired for Aliwan Fiesta 2019. In it, she explained why Cebuanas have continuously dominated the search since its inception.
Below is the complete set of winners:
Nicole Borromeo – Sinulog Festival of Cebu
Aubrhie Cindyrelle Carpio – Singkaban Festival of Bulacan
(Three) 2nd Runners-Up:
Leandrea Batingan – Tanglawan Festival of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan
Alayyza Izzabelle Tolimao – Agten Tufi Festival of Tupi, South Cotabato
Roi Neve Comanda – Panagbenga Festival of Baguio City
The Reyna ng Aliwan 2017 Official Candidates with reigning titleholder Cynthia Thomalla with previous winner Steffi Aberasturi and former runner-up Alexandra Faith Garcia
Earlier in the day, the Press Launch of Aliwan Fiesta 2017
was held alongside the Press Presentation of the Official Candidates of Reyna ng Aliwan 2017 at Passion Restaurant inside Resorts World Manila.
Twenty (20) beautiful stunners representing an equal number of festivals around the country presented themselves in elegant gowns to the delight of the members of the media who were invited for the event. One of them will succeed reigning titleholder Cynthia Thomalla during the Coronation Finals this coming Saturday, April 22 at the CCP Complex in Pasay City. Pageant presentation will be held a night before in the same venue.
Below are the Official Candidates and the festivals they represent.

It was obvious from reactions of the Press who the clear favorites are. First off, the three (3) Cebuanas are all in strong contention – Apriel Smith from Utanon Festival of Dalaguete, Kathleen Mae Lendio of Karansa Festival of Danao City and Marla Alforque of Sinulog Festival – together with Maria Ahtisa Manalo of Niyogyugan Festival of Quezon
. A dark horse would be Venisse Charm Costibolo of Sangyaw Festival of Tacloban City. And we already have five potential winners here. Let’s see who will run away with the victory this year.

Tonight will be the crowning of Reyna ng Aliwan 2015
Who will win among these 21 Official Candidates of Reyna ng Aliwan 2015?
Courtedy call to the Mayor of Pasay City
Tonight is one of the most important events of Aliwan Fiesta 2015 at the CCP Complex- the crowning of this year’s Reyna ng Aliwan from among the twenty-one (21) Festival Queen contenders.
And while we tend to overlook its festivities more often than not, it cannot be denied that the festival focus gives the whole pageant a more traditional color, what with the ladies parading in their dazzling costumes and trying to outshine one another in the process. There are no swimsuit segments here – just pure joy in the appreciation of each region’s colors and celebration.
And as usual, I have short-listed my favorites to win the crown. Two of them are actually familiar names and faces to you, dear readers. One is Gazini Christianna Jordi Ewamer (or Gazini Ganadaos, if you will) representing the Sinulog Festival of Cebu. The other one is Alexandra Faith Garcia for the Dinamulag Mango Festival of Zambales. The former was in Miss World Philippines 2014, while the latter took part in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2014.
The three other ladies in my Top 5 are Jaymie Lou Palermo Pagulayan from Bato Art Festival of Luna, Isabela, Errolha Lynn Seballos from the Tuna Festival of General Santos City and Stephanie Abellanida from the Halad Festival of Midsayap, North Cotabato. Their photo grid is right below.
