It will all happen at the SM MOA Arena on October 12, 2014.
Ms. Cory Quirino of CQGQ
Trust Ms. Cory Quirino to fill the SM Mall of Asia Arena for the Coronation Night of Miss World Philippines 2014 on October 12. While the Official Candidates have not yet been announced – let alone screened – she will definitely undertake to make this year her biggest production for the nationals. With the outgoing titleholder being Miss World 2013 Megan Young, there is simply no room for a ho-hum conduct of the finals.
And with GMA-7’s help, the pageant will definitely get a boost in terms of scope and coverage. Do I see Mikael Daez (Megan’s rumored boyfriend) solo-hosting? I doubt it, but if he is joined by Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana, why not?
Watch out for my coverage of Miss World Philippines 2014 starting very soon! 😀
The winners of Miss Teen Earth and Little Miss Earth Philippines 2014
It was a wonderful advocacy pageant that paid homage to Mother Nature. And the winners couldn’t have been more deserving as they showed why they are true Earth champions. At the end of the more than three hours-long competition at the SM MOA Arena, Vanessa Mae Walters (of Cebu City) and Maria Bernadette Datu (of Bataan) were crowned Miss Teen Earth and Little Miss Earth Philippines 2014, respectively. They defeated nineteen other contenders in their respective categories. The honor roll reads as follows:
MISS TEEN EARTH PHILIPPINES 2014 (16) VANESSA MAE WALTERS
1ST RUNNER UP – (18) KRYZZA HILAY
2ND RUNNER UP – (9) DEANNE PATRICIA PEREZ
3RD RUNNER UP – (17) ELLA LUBAG
4TH RUNNER UP – (20) ANGELIQUE PASSION
LITTLE MISS EARTH PHILIPPINES 2014 (9) MARIA BERNADETTE DATU
1ST RUNNER UP – (13) JOYCE ANGEDAN
2ND RUNNER UP – (16) ALEXIS NAVARRO
3RD RUNNER UP – (4) HANNAH ALMARIE
4TH RUNNER UP – (1) BETHANY RAMOS
The five best from each group made up the top finalists.
It was such a well-produced advocacy pageant all throughout.
For those who missed watching it at the Araneta Coliseum last October 12, the My Husband’s Lover concert will air tonight on GMA-7 on SNBO at around 10:00 PM or right after Imbestigador.
The entire cast of the hit pink teleserye – which ended just last Friday – will perform song, dance and whatever-have-you numbers that will either amuse or make you swoon with delight.
Watch out for the duets of Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo. 😉
This is how the Solaire Grand Ballroom will look like tomorrow night.
And these will be the crowns of MWP2013 and her four Princesses.
The Coronation Night of Miss World Philippines 2013 is almost set.
The venue will be neatly arranged like the photo above which is inside the huge Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort and Casino. GMA-7 will be airing and Rico Gutierrez directing.
The hosts are ready, with KC Montero, Victor Basa and Carla Abellana onstage. MW2011 Gwen Ruais will be the anchor. Special guest performers will be Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez of “My Husband’s Lover” fame.
And one of the 25 Official Candidates will come out victorious. She will be instantly swept off her feet for the nearing departure date for Indonesia.
It is not wont in this blog’s nature to vigorously promote a new teleserye premiering on Philippine TV. But I will make a rare exception with “My Husband’s Lover” because never before has such a daring theme been used full-blown for an entire season. Love triangles of the two-men-fighting-over-the-same-woman type come and go. But not the man-and-woman-fighting-over-the-same-man spin. Given the small screen-sensitive subject matter, the MTRCB has approved its airing with a rating of SPG (Strict Parental Guidance) and a late primetime sched. I’d like to see how far they will push the free-tv-envelope, so to speak.
Watch the teaser below:

“My Husband’s Lover” is created by Suzette Doctolero (of “Amaya” and “Indio” fame) and directed by Dominic Zapata. It stars Dennis Trillo (the gay lover), Carla Abellana (the wife) and (ex-ABS-CBN talent) Tom Rodriguez (the gay husband) together with a powerhouse cast led by Chanda Romero, Glydel Mercado, Victor Basa, Roi Vinzon, Pancho Magno, Bettina Carlos, Karel Marquez, Kevin Santos and (the TV acting comeback of) Ms. Kuh Ledesma. It will premiere tonight on GMA-7 at around 9:45PM.
Do watch the pilot week and see if it will merit your continuous support for the next couple of months. 😉
It’s Sunday. Let’s take a much-needed breather from all the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 frenzy just for today so I can introduce one male personality who is very likely to become the next matinee idol of Philippine showbiz.
Some might ask, “Benjamin who?” Well, the guy is a talent of the now-famous Mercator Model and Artist Management and is being handled by head honcho Jonas Gaffud who divides his time between making beauty queens and transforming models into hot celebrities. He is most definitely a cutie of a hunk – what with that good-looking face, those piercing eyes, and a pretty nice built. You’d better get ready to see more of him in the next few months as he starts embarking on a showbiz career that should make ‘Benjamin Alves‘ a household name in no time at all.
During the contract signing: (L-R) GMA Entertainment TV’s OIC Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, Benjamin Alves, Jonas Gaffud (Benjamin’s manager) and GMA Films President Annette Gozon-Abrogar
Just earlier this week, Benjamin became a certified ‘Kapuso‘ after signing an exclusive contract with GMA-7 which signals his big-time entry into TV and the movies. Knowing the network, I trust that he will be initially casted in one of its’ top-rating primetime or afternoon prime teleseryes for starters. He should also be seen taking part in the Sunday musical-dance/variety program ‘Party Pilipinas’ plus guest appearances in some GMA-7 and GMA News TV shows.
With those killer looks, how can Benjamin Alves miss?
Benjamin – co-managed by GMA Artist Center and Mercator – will be gradually molded into a dramatic actor in hopes of assuming leading-man status and getting paired with some of the network’s top actresses like Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Rhian Ramos, Carla Abellana and Glaiza de Castro. Movies will most probably be in the offing as well. GMA Films has been steadily churning out a variety of flicks where he could get a role or two in the near future.
So what does the future hold for this tall and handsome 23 year-old? A lot, I reckon. He can fill the niche of GMA-7’s stable of artists waiting to be the next Dingdong Dantes, Richard Gutierrez or Dennis Trillo.
Remember the name – Benjamin Alves. Watch out for more as he boldly steps up to the showbiz plate. 😉
But not this year because she is only 17. In 2013, by which time she will have already turned 18, this girl could be the one to beat. Her killer dimples remind me so much of TV/Film Actress Carla Abellana. In fact, she can pass off as the young sister.
Let’s not get too prematurely excited. At this point, I trust that her famous handlers will transform this sweet-looking ingenue into a young elegant woman worthy of becoming a beauty queen in a year (or two) from now.
For now, let’s be happy that the (University of the) Philippines is not running out of knockout beauty-and-brains to field in our national pageants.
Are you ready for a near-overload of horror movies this Christmas? Aside from “Dalaw”, the 12th installment of the Shake Rattle and Roll series will be out to scare the wits out of you.
The trilogy is made up of the following stories:
Mamanyika is about a girl, Abigail, who finds an old doll in a cemetery. She brings it home and it became her playmate. Unknown to her, the doll turns out to be an evil entity and starts killing people in the household. Starring Shaina Magdayao, Ricky Davao, Elijah Alejo and Rita Avila. This one marks the directoral debut of actor Zoren Legaspi.
The second part is called Punerarya starring Carla Abellana, Mart Escudero, Gaby dela Merced, Nash Aguas and Sid Lucero which tells the story of Dianne, a grade school teacher looking for a way to supplement her short income. She accepts a tutoring job for the children of a man who owns a funeral parlor and lives in mysterious house. When she senses that some bizarre elements are surrounding the house, she must find a way to get out before it is too late. Indie film director Jerrold Tarog helms this one.
The third episode Isla Enkanto is directed by Topel Lee. It stars Andi Eigenmann playing the role of Andrea, a girl who escapes to a private island with her two friends after breaking up with her boyfriend. While in there, she meets Ray, a man whose girlfriend disappeared when they were on vacation two years ago. When an unknown group of entities begin to haunt Andrea, Ray also found out that they are the ones responsible for his girlfriend’s disappearance. Now they must leave the place or they might not make it alive.
Shake Rattle and Roll 12 is part of Regal Entertainment, Inc.’s 50th Anniversary Offering.
Just when you thought that only the gorgeous guys will get the spotlight for the BENCH/uncut show on July 2, 2010 at the Araneta Coliseum, think again. Their female counterparts are just as fiery and will not take things seating down. Here is a quick photo rundown of some of the ladies who will glide down the ramp in their most sizzling attires. I’m sure some of them will even take things one step further and don skimpy get-ups that will send the male members of the audience shouting for more!
Katrina Halili
Karylle
Iya Villania
Carla Abellana
Kim Chiu
Georgina Wilson
Kris Bernal
Shaina Magdayao
Frencheska Farr
So as you can see above, the ladies are up to the challenge as well.
Have you started saving up for the ticket? Or have you already checked out the Bench stores for available tickets?
Today, at exactly 11:45AM, GMA-7’s new Sunday musical-variety show makes its premiere. Party Pilipinas, which replaces the long-running SOP, has been heavily anticipated for the past few weeks now. Aside from having all the network’s top and upcoming stars hosting and/or appearing in the show, many other artists and performers have been signed up to spice things up.
Here is the OST of Party Pilipinas’ dance theme:
