Candy del Castillo
Marah Olivan Muñoz
Sarah Margarette Joson
John dela Vega (or JDV) has also fielded ladies for Miss World Philippines 2016 – a first for him. He enlisted four beauties – three of whom may already be quite familiar to you.
There is Candy del Castillo who was Binibini 6 during Bb. Pilipinas 2016. Second in line is Marah Olivan Muñoz who participated during Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016. She is followed by Sarah Margarette Joson who was a candidate during Jewel of the Philippines 2016. And completing the four is Jan Villanueva from PBQA Season 2.
I was told that the organizers are trying to hit at least 25 Official Candidates (28 if it can be stretched to that number) with the tentative finals night date for September 25 at the Manila Hotel.
Let’s see which ones will finally step it up to complete the line-up. 😉
Candy, Jeslyn, Jessica, Geisha, Angela Gene and Jennyline Carla: Bulakenyas all!
It continuously warms the heart that my beloved Bulacan is the most heavily-represented Province in Bb. Pilipinas 2016. There are six (6) Binibinis representing different areas, with two (2) of them actually coming from the same town.
Let’s begin with Binibini 6 Candy del Castillo – the teacher from Bocaue, followed by Binibini 10 Jeslyn Santos – the model-athlete from Hagonoy (your blogger’s specific hometown). The two ladies are trailed by uber tall Binibini 21 Jessica Gonzales – who comes from a family of OFWs in Paombong. Adding to the mix is the pretty Binibini 23 Angela Gene Valdes – the cosplayer from Meycauayan. And last but not the least, the two entries of Marilao – Binibini 20 Geisha Naganuma and Binibini 32 Jennyline Carla Malpaya.
Six Binibinis. One Province. Bulacan.
It only goes to show that there are indeed a lot of lovely Filipinas from one of the most historic parts of the country. Who will shine bright among them? Will Bulacan have reason/s to celebrate by the time the new Bb. Pilipinas titleholders are crowned on April 17?
Who’s your bet among them, dear readers? 🙂
Binibini 6 Candy del Castillo
Binibini 6 Candy del Castillo of Bocaue, Bulacan will always strike anyone as warm and soft-spoken. A teacher outside of pageantry, she comes off as a dependable ally of the students inside the classroom with her easy and accessible approach to learning. Of course, she turns 180 degrees the minute she goes into full Bb. Pilipinas mode. She sincerely aspires to win one of the crowns this year to hopefully use the powerful platform to spread the need for good education among the young ones.
Teaching is a vocation rather than a profession. What’s more important is not what you’ll get out from it but what you can share and give. So I think I’m a giver and a patient teacher!

Here, for your reading pleasure, is Candy’s short Easter Q&A:
What does Easter Sunday mean to you as an individual?
Easter Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a reminder of how He loves us that He fulfilled his promise of saving us from our sins.
Being a Binibini and a Teacher at the same time, what are the best values that should be taught to young students at an early age that they can bring until they become adults?
The value of respect. If everyone will learn how to respect one another, we can have a peaceful society and a better world. We must remember that respect begets respect.
If there are three good things you could separately wish for three other Binibinis, what would these wishes be and why?
For Geisha Naganuma – I wish that people will stop bashing her because of her being a replacement. People should understand that it is not her fault and that she deserves to be a candidate. She is a beautiful person inside and out.
For Jeslyn Santos – I wish her more happiness and one of the crowns of Bb. Pilipinas, hopefully all of us from JDV.
For Christianne Ramos – I wish her more happiness in her personal life.
Below is a video-recorded Easter message from Binibini 6 herself.
New Binibini 20 Geisha Naganuma (lower photo). completes the JDV quartet in Bb. Pilipinas 2016
Binibini 6 Candy del Castillo, Binibini 10 Jeslyn Santos, Binibini 40 Christianne Ramos and, now, Binibini 20 Geisha Naganuma. This beautiful quartet makes up the Team JDV bets of John dela Vega in Bb. Pilipinas 2016. The road to completing the four was not the smoothest, but the important thing is that they’re in for the fight.
We all know that only Jeslyn and Christianne qualified at first. But when height issues became hot topic and caused the exit of five previously-announced contenders, Candy entered the picture. And just recently, the controversial disqualification of original Binibini 20 Kim Ross delos Santos due to sexy photos led to the accommodation of Geisha as the latest.
There will always be strength in numbers. And these four ladies will surely uphold the banner of their camp with such pride. After all, their group was assembled the hard way. The rewards are so much sweeter now.
Now this is just a small trivia about Binibini 6 Candy del Castillo. JDV himself shared with your blogger that this Bocaue native is the big sister of a 2-month old baby after her 40 year-old gave birth to their youngest sibling. 😉
Binibinis 6-10 for PLDT Home
Here now are Binibinis 6-10 of Bb. Pilipinas 2016 as they were photographed during their PLDT Home Tour during the weekend at SM Mall of Asia and Megamall, starting with:
Binibinis 6 Candy del Castillo, the teacher from Bocaue, Bulacan and Binibini 8 Karen Ibasco, the Medical Physicist from Manila who initially slipped past the judges’ nods during the screening but were luckily called back to replace two of the original 40 who were reviewed as not meeting the height requirements.
Binibini 7 Angelique de Leon – the only remaining R-L Angel – who is fiercely pushing forward in her bid for a crown this year after learning the points she may have fallen short of last 2014.
Binibini 9 Roshiela Tobias, the Registered Nurse from Pampanga who took a chance in screening as an independent, fortunately got selected to be an Official Candidate and is now a proud Aces & Queens bet.
And Binibini 10 Jeslyn Santos of Hagonoy, Bulacan, one of the several second-timers in Bb. Pilipinas who has been significantly re-trained by the JDV camp for this edition.
Who floats your boat among them, dear readers? 😉
Bocaue, Hagonoy and Paombong – all in Bulacan – are beautifully represented in Bb. Pilipinas 2016
Bulacan Represent! And I couldn’t be happier that the province (where I also come from
) is significantly bannered by three (3) Binibinis in the ongoing Bb. Pilipinas 2016.
There are Binibini 6 Candy Castillo of Bocaue and Binibini 10 Jeslyn Santos of Hagonoy, both from the JDV Camp. And then the tallest at 6’0 – Binibini 21 Jessica Gonzales of KF – is also there from Paombong.
This trio of Bulakenyas show how rich and diverse in beautiful Filipinas the historical province can really be. And I am looking forward to seeing how well they will step up to the tough competition in the nationals, because at least one of them is very likely to soar high in the coming weeks and months ahead.
Who do you think it will be, dear readers? 🙂
These five ladies are the ones who were selected to replace the five (5) of the forty (40) originally-chosen Official Candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2016 but were disqualified mainly due to height concerns.
Binibini 6 Candy Del Castillo (JDV) who was previously blogged as the charming private school teacher from Bocaue, Bulacan.
Binibini 8 Karen Ibasco (KF) who has a Masteral degree in Applied Physics (Cum laude) and once worked as a Medical Physicist at the St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Binibini 24 Niza Sabrina Sophia Limjap from Bacolod (Independent) who once hosted a morning TV show in her home province and was previously connected with the fashion merchandising team of Rustan’s Department Store.
Binibini 34 Sarah Christine Bona (KF) from Iriga City in the Bicol Region who was 2nd Runner-Up of Miss Bicolandia 2012 and holder of a string of regional beauty titles to her name.
And then there is Binibini 39 Sissel Ria Rabajante (A&Q). Need I say more about this beautiful lady?
Candy, Karen, Niza, Sarah and Ria are the replacement Binibinis for Daziella Gange, Marlann Flores, Tatiana Maher, Aniger Wiji Cruz and Loren Artajos.
Here comes Candy del Castillo from Team JDV
If all teachers would look like Candy del Castillo, then expect the students to score perfect attendance records in class. You see, this Team JDV girl graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and is currently practicing her most noble profession in a private school. For now, though, she is setting aside the lesson plans (and chalks and blackboards
) to fulfill a sweet dream of joining the nationals and becoming a Binibini in Bb. Pilipinas 2016 which will start screening tomorrow afternoon at the Monet Ballroom of Novotel Manila Araneta Center.
And why not? She is 5’8″ tall with a whistle-bait figure and facial features that are very pleasing to the eyes. She was also runner-up during Reyna ng Bulacan 2013 where she represented her hometown of Bocaue. But don’t expect her to stop at just being a pretty woman walking down the corridors or the canteen of the academic institution where she teaches in. There are grander plans ahead being plotted by Candy herself.
And soon, she will find out if her fate has something special in store. Being Official Candidate? Better. She wants to win a crown, of course. 😉
