37 of the 40 Official Candidates of Miss World Philippines 2019 were announced during the Final Screening held yesterday at the C3 Events Place in Greenhills.
Familiar names who made it are Michelle Marquez Dee, Ilene de Vera, Kayesha Chua, Kristi Banks, Ruffa Nava, Patrixia Sherly Santos, Sammie Anne Legaspi and more. I will update you on all their names in my next blog.
Two new titles will be given this year – Miss Philippines Tourism (in partnership with the Department of Tourism) who will represent the country abroad in a still unannounced competition and Miss Teen Eco International Philippines which is open to ladies 16-19 years old.
More activities will happen for the ladies before the Press Presentation. Grand Coronation Night will be at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on September 15.
More than two years ago today – the 22nd of November 2016 to be exact – Catriona Gray, who was then the reigning Miss World Philippines, was given her official sendoff to Miss World 2016 at the C3 Events Place Greenhills. I was able to corner her to sing a few lines in Tagalog (or Filipino if you will). Watch the first video above.
Now if you click the second video below, she gave her greetings to the readers of normannorman.com.
Just imagine, had Catriona won Miss World 2016, then the right photos of her as Miss Universe 2018 (courtesy of The Nation Bangkok and PentyDynamics) would not happen and there just might be no BIG reason for the Philippines’ major celebration in pageantry.

Earlier in the afternoon, Miss World Philippines 2015 Hillarie Danielle Parungao was given her send-off to Miss World 2015 in Sanya, China at the C3 Events Place in Greenhills. She will soon depart for the resort city to join more than a hundred delegates who will vie for the blue crown on the head of Rolene Strauss.
During the past number of days (since November 9 to be exact), Hillarie has been extremely busy shooting her Beauty With A Purpose (BWAP) Project video in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya where she had a well-received motorcade and a formal Charity Gala Night that recognized her achievement in the national pageant for the whole province.
Members of the Press took the opportunity to get precious photo ops with our Sanya-bound Queen, as well as to ask about her preparations for Miss World 2015. And more than just answering light questions, she zeroed in on the need to make a concerted effort in spreading her Press Release for the pageant that will help in her bid to win the Multimedia and BWAP challenges of the competition.
From all of us here at normannorman.com, we wish you all the best in the tough mission ahead. Make everyone proud out there, Hillarie! 🙂

Miss World Philippines 2013 Megan Young won’t be leaving for Jakarta until Tuesday, September 3. But her formal send-off at C3 Events Place last night was such an emotional gathering where family, friends, beauty camp sisters, fellow candidates, showbiz ties and pageant enthusiasts attended to give her the much-appreciated moral support and endless wishes of good luck for her Miss World 2013 journey.
Our beauty queen was moved to tears, especially when Ms. Cory Quirino told her of our ‘fat chance’ of finally winning our first Miss World crown, and added that even MW franchisees from other countries are stating the same.
Norman’s Blog wishes Megan all the best.

Bring home the crown! 😀
