BPCI Chair Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta joined the Binibinis when they dropped by for the last stop of their Store Tour at Taco Bell in Cyber Park Tower.
The ladies were thrilled to have even a short and casual bonding time with Madame SMA, as well as enjoy the company of the invited members of the Press who took photos of them around the place. They even tried their hands at playing billiards before calling it a day.
Here are photos I took at Taco Bell:

I was in a close huddle with Mario Dumaual of ABS-CBN and Lhar Santiago of GMA-7 during the Press Presentation of the Mr. & Ms. Republic of the Philippines 2017/2018 Official Candidates earlier. The Kapamilya correspondent was quick in telling me that he has already been calling me twice but no answer. I was busy covering the event so my iPhone was on silent mode. His question came in fast.
“Is it true that the Miss Supranational franchise is moving to another organization? And I heard its going to be both Miss and Mister Supranational?”
I fell silent.
I have been sounded off more than a few times in the past few weeks about the rumor. And I am not confirming anything right now. I don’t want to preempt any kind of formal announcements from either parties – where the franchise will depart from and where it will make a landing soon after.
By now, some of you – dear readers – are already well aware of the details of the alleged transfer. And I am certain that you most likely know more than what is stored inside my head.
What I clearly can say is that a Press Conference is being scheduled within the coming weeks. By the alleged new owner/s, that is. I cannot push the envelope any further and divulge more specific infos.
P.S. This topic should keep you busy till my next “In the Spotlight” entry tomorrow morning.
Unlike previous years, the selection of Official Binibinis for this year’s edition is taking a slightly different route that – in my opinion – makes a lot more sense in comparison.
You see, this week will be spent with the applicants undergoing a string of interviews with the Legal Team of BPCI in order to check and double-check on all their submitted requirements, existing contractual obligations and any or all essential matters that could be considered less desirable for the organization. Once the ladies successfully hurdle this part, then they will be given calltback instructions for the one-day, all-day screening that will yield the Official Candidates on Monday, January 15. By then, the ones who will screen in front of the panel are already qualified and given the green-light by the lawyers. No more surprise disqualifications or casualties after the Binibinis have been announced.
Every aspirant wants to get that chance to present herself on Screening Day. So it bears a lot of interest to see which ones will finally show up at the venue. And who will make it as one of the forty (40) anointed candidates. BPCI prefers to get just thirty (30) but ABS-CBN wants to go for forty (40) instead. At the end of the day, production concerns will prevail, in my opinion once more.
Here are more photos from screenings in the past.

So many are called, but only six are chosen. But that’s getting far ahead of the story.
For now, get ready for the start of the search for Bb. Pilipinas 2018. The first deadline for submission of applications will be January 8. Extensions are certain, but not the full stretch I reckon. Everything will happen earlier than usual.
Watch out for more!
Welcome back, Rachel!
Rachel with Gines of BPCI
Home is really where the heart is, and Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters is back home after finishing in the Top 10 of Miss Universe 2017 in Las Vegas. She was seen at NAIA Terminal 2 by BPCI Officials, friends and supporters who showered her with congratulatory messages for doing us proud and continuing the country’s placement streak in our favorite beauty pageant.
This week will be super busy for everyone. And we’ll keep you on the loop with all the upcoming Miss Universe-related activities. Have a great week ahead, dear readers!
Today, at around 3pm, the last big send-off for our Bb. Pilipinas 2017 Queens will take place at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center. A strictly invitational affair, it will be a 3-in-1 media gathering for Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters (who needs to be in Las Vegas by the 13th at the latest), Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2017 Chanel Olive Thomas (who should depart for Poland soon) and Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017 Katarina Rodriguez (who still has a little more elbow room to prepare herself for Sri Lanka).
This is a must-coverage for normannorman.com as BPCI expects Joy Arguil and I to be present at the event. And we will bring the happenings to you as soon as available.
In the meantime, below is a BTS video clip of the latest photoshoot of Rachel with Raymond Saldaña as recorded by Ron Angeles. Just to whet your appetite. 🙂
This is how Charmaine Elima looks right now
This was how Maine looked like during Bb. Pilipinas 2017
The caption on her latest Facebook update says it all: “when was the last time you did something for the first time? 😎💇🏻👌🏻
Bb. Pilipinas 2017 1st Runner-Up Charmaine “Maine” Elima now sports a significantly shorter hair that begs the question: Is this her way of telling everyone how she really feels about not getting a title last April? Or is she just going for a totally “wash-and-wear” look to give her long hair a rest from all the constant stylings during the competition?
We know that our reigning Queens (including the two runners-up) have long tresses to frame their faces in a more feminine way. And with Maine’s new cut, her public appearances will be the talk of everyone. Not that BPCI will reprimand her for doing so. After all, she won’t be prepped up for any international pageant as 1st Runner-Up.
Are you liking the short hair, dear readers? 🙂
