Misters of Pilipinas 2015: The Baby-Faced Hunk from Floridablanca

imageimage Back in 2014 when Patrick Santos joined Bodyshots Philippines, he was still this unknown dreamer who took the competition with a mix of fun and drive to succeed. His name and face did register to a good number of followers. And while it did not translate to an anticipated victory or placement, the whole experience did not totally dampen a deep-seated eagerness to do well in his chosen career. He moved on quickly and tried other contests, until Misters 2015 The Pageant where he screened, qualified and was finally casted (with the photos above and left courtesy of Dennis Natividad) to represent his hometown of Floridablanca, Pampanga.

Still a child at heart, Patrick has instilled a relatively more serious disposition in him now. The baby-faced youthfulness is still ever present, but with a stronger will to do a lot better this time around. Read his Q&A now.

1) As a Misters of Pilipinas 2015 candidate, give me a 30-second intro about yourself which will make followers show more interest in you.

I am Patrick from Floridablanca, Pampanga. At my age, I still have that childlike side of me giving interest to apps and games like CoC (Clash of Clans). Perhaps with this kind of interest, everyone can still relate to the things that I love, young or old..

2) As one of the candidates, what image do you want to show the others?

The image I want to show is that of hardwork, just like how I look physically. I work hard to maintain a beautiful body. However, physical appearance is not enough, one should also consider hardwork in terms of achieving your goals and dreams.

3) In Miss Universe, a popular running line is “yellow is the color of joy”. What color best represents you?

Black would perfectly represent me! Because besides the negative notion that that black represents darkness, black is the presence of all colors. Colors that can signify unity in whatever race, color, culture or religion one may belong to.

image 4) Not everyone can win a special award in the competition, but if you are qualified for the following, which would you prefer to win: Mister Friendship or Mister Talent?

Honestly, I would like to have them both. Aha! But if I have to choose one, it would be Mr. Friendship. That’s more than an award for me because it’s a measure of your character and a distinction of who you are to others.

5) If you win one of the titles, people will expect you to be a good role model. How will you start building that image if ever?

I really do hope it will happen and if does, I might start thinking of rebuilding myself! Less is always more!! Less vice and less mistakes, that’s a good way for me to start being a good role model!

6. Having joined a nationwide modeling search (Bodyshots) last year, what difference do you expect in terms of handling the competition? Will you adopt a new gameplan?

I really don’t have a gameplan! I just give my best effort to everything that I venture into, be it a pageant or life itself. I always make sure to give my best shot to win every game and achieve my goal.

7. How do you expect your life to change after being named an Official Candidate of Misters of Pilipinas 2015?

Not that much. I might be a little popular due to social media and the press, but I’m still the same Patrick Santos, but this time more confident and looking forward to becoming a better version of me

8) Any message to your followers, Patrick?

Could Arcel be the Next Top Model of Misters 2015 The Pageant?

I can clearly recall the announcement of the chosen candidates of Misters 2015 The Pageant during the final casting at Fisher Mall. Host JP Anonuevo called out the name of Arcel Yambing last among the 17. After that, the loudest cheers filled the entire Atrium area. This guy from Bacolor, Pampanga has a lot of fans and supporters, which no longer came as a surprise. He has the eye-pleasing oriental look that can instantly hook the audience. And the minute he took his spot on the centerstage, most everyone is in agreement that this could be his most important journey to date.

A crossover from the local fashion world, 25 year-old Arcel has paid his dues on the ramp and developed himself into a very reliable model with a string of assignments from Philippine Fashion Week to various editorial shoots to more runway bookings with some of our noted Designers. And you can tell in his stance and smooth swagger how much he has improved that the other candidates can only observe his style and maybe try to emulate a bit of his signature walk.

But don’t think even for one second that the glamour of being a fashion model has gone to his head. Arcel remains grounded and shows his humility without hesitation. In fact, he continues to help out in farming the family’s parcel of land in the province. He doesn’t mind getting all muddied up at all.

But let’s do away with the tinge of drama. Time to focus now on his Q&A.

1) As a Misters of Pilipinas 2015 candidate, give me a 30-second intro about yourself which will make followers show more interest in you.

I’m Arcel Yambing, 25 years of age. I come from a farming family that lives a simple life in Pampanga. Whenever I’m not working in Manila, I make sure that I spend most of my time with them. I know how hard life is that’s why every piece of harvested rice must be treated with much importance for me.

2) As one of the candidates, what image do you want to show the others?

My image should be like that of a choir member singing songs with a lot of heart. In Tagalog, it means simple pero malaman ang puso.

3) In Miss Universe, a popular running line is “yellow is the color of joy”. What color best represents you?

I can say that Gold is the color that best represents me. Matapang pero hindi masakit sa mata. Its like standing out but showing fairness and balance in glitter.

4) Not everyone can win a special award in the competition, but if you are qualified for the following, which would you prefer to win: Mister Friendship or Mister Talent?

I prefer to win both Mister Friendship and Mister Talent because I know that I am capable of getting the two awards. Joke lang po. I would be happy getting any of the two. But if not, it’s only because there are others who are more deserving than me.

5) If you win one of the titles, people will expect you to be a good role model. How will you start building that image if ever?

No one starts showing his good side just because nanalo siya or something. The more important thing is to continuously show the good attitude expected of a Misters 2015 winner or candidate, manalo man o matalo.

6. Having joined a nationwide modeling search (Bodyshots) last year, what difference do you expect in terms of handling the competition? Will you adopt a new gameplan?

I’m expecting a higher level of competition, more challenging than Bodyshots. At the same time, I hope to enjoy the whole ride with the other Misters and the people behind this because I can learn a lot, like how to improve my self-esteem. I plan to train double-time to improve myself better.

7. How do you expect your life to change after being named an Official Candidate of Misters 2015?

It’s like being the member of a new family that can mold me into being a good man as well as learn new things for my improvement. Sa totoo lang po, it must be like I’m some sort of celebrity in a way.

8) Any message to your followers, Arcel?

To my followers, I will never get tired of thanking all of you always. From the start, you have been by my side, laging naka-suporta, win or lose. Please stay with me in this new goal.

Misters 2015 The Pageant: The Filipino in Foreignoy Karan

image Standing at a verifiable height of 6’2″, Karan Singhdole could be the tallest candidate in Misters 2015 The Pageant. And while some other male pageant seekers would quip that he doesn’t have a drop of Filipino blood running in his veins, this 22 year-old was born and raised in the Philippines and is now proudly representing his hometown of Sta. Rosa, Laguna in the competition. He speaks Tagalog like a true local, and can never be faulted for not getting himself ‘Filipinized’ enough to be taken seriously as a contender for one of the titles at stake.

As an international model who has walked the ramps in India and the Philippines, Karan knows too well that such credentials are not enough to prove his worth. His stint during last year’s Bodyshots won’t be much help either. But after joining the ‘My Foreignoy‘ contest of GMA-7’s Eat Bulaga some months back, TV viewers have started noticing that, indeed, this guy is very much Filipino in heart. Sure, he doesn’t eat pork, but that is one small detail that will never set him many steps back.

I subjected Karan to my Q&A. He is a young man of not so many words. I can definitely sense the pride in his joining, though. He is not easily ruffled by criticisms at all. Read on.

I’m Karan Singhdole. I’m 22 and I represent Sta. Rosa, Laguna. I’m an international model and a pure indian born and raised here in the Philippines and I can say that I have a Filipino heart.

2) As one of the candidates, what image do you want to show the others?

Yung image ng isang humble na tao. Ako po, kahit na may marating man po ako, may mapanalunang mga pageant or contests, hindi po ako nagbabago ng ugali. Kung sino man po akong nakilala ninyo, siya pa din po ako ang humble na taong mas lalong makilala ninyo.

3) In Miss Universe, a popular running line is “yellow is the color of joy”. What color best represents you?

Red as a man’s strength. It shows power and determination.

4) Not everyone can win a special award in the competition, but if you are qualified for the following, which would you prefer to win: Mister Friendship or Mister Talent?

I would prefer to win the Mister Talent because it simply means that I have confidence to show my skills.

5) If you win one of the titles, people will expect you to be a good role model. How will you start building that image if ever?

I will prove them that even I win the title, I would not change kung sino ako na nakilala yun pa din po ako – a humble and down-to-earth person. Popularity is just a bonus.

6. Having joined a nationwide modeling search (Bodyshots) last year and a regional pageant earlier this year, what difference do you expect in terms of handling the national competition? Will you adopt a new gameplan?

Yes, because if I win, I will represent the Philippines and it’s a big responsibility for me and that’s what I expect of Misters 2015.

7. How do you expect your life to change after being named an Official Candidate of Misters of Pilipinas 2015?

I think after the competition there will be more work and opportunities that I really wanted for so long.

8) Any message to your followers, Karan?

I hope you keep supporting me guys. Kaya natin to. Sana hindi kayo magbabago and salamat po. See you all!

Let’s give Karan a fair chance for Misters 2015 The Pageant. After all, if we take pride in seeing full-blooded Filipinas taking part in national pageants of other countries, then it should be a parallel analogy of sorts in the case of this sociable Indian hunk. 😉

bodyshots2014ab At the Eclipse Bar/Lounge of Solaire Resort & Casino earlier in the day, I was invited to the Press Presentation of the forty (40) hopefuls vying to win Bodyshots Philippines 2014 – the model search that has spawned the careers of many successful names in the local fashion and showbiz world such as Marina Benipayo, Ricardo Cepeda, Joann Bitagcol, Hayden Kho, Patty Betita, Eric Quizon, Rhea Santos and Zanjoe Marudo.

Among the female candidates are a few familiar names and faces we have seen during Bb. Pilipinas 2014 such as Racquel Kabigting, Ednornance Agustin and Leonalyn dela Cruz and another one – Vina Openiano – who took part in last year’s Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss World Philippines.

bodyshots2014abc Calling all interested good-looking guys and girls who want to jumpstart a modelling career. Here’s the potential chance to shine in this year’s edition of Bodyshots. Organized by the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines (FDAP), screening dates will be on April 14-15 to be held at the Sky Dome of SM City North Edsa. There will be another one on April 21 at Solaire Resort & Casino, a day before the final screening on April 22 in the same venue. Give it a try!
